Good to see our standards are getting higher and higher as time goes by.4 latest exits of players who just don't cut it is another step forward . I would now like to see Roofe gone as he is milking us imo . His loss. Either bring in a striker now or promote an academy player and slowly blend him in is my choice as our window thus far has been excellent. If Kent remains defiant with wage demands then he must be sold . Great player on his day but his days are very frequent . Too bad as he is exciting to watch when his mind is not on his goatee.

Agree0 Disagree0

We NEED to do whatever we can (Within the currect wage structure) to secure the future of Ryan Kent.

Deceee good post.
Re kent I’m not sure he is being defiant, my post re bonus is what I believe to be true and would not like to think u want him moved on based on what I post

I would be delighted if he stayed for another three years, we all realise football is a short career, look at ofobhor, haller et al

He seems very happy now his lady is back up here, I get that.

The thing about Kent is that I feel his numbers can be deceiving. Yes, he should be scoring more goals and, whilst his assist numbers are pretty average, how many times does he make a key break and assist the assist? This is a stat that isn't really published but he is a player who regularly makes a difference in my opinion.

26 Jul 2022 14:38:43
Thanks john25 . The positives outnumber the negatives with Ryan. Renew the contract and sell him next year after he shows what he can do in Europe . I was a winger and loved getting inside and having a pop. he doesn't do that often enough imo. but when he does he is the real deal. time will tell. cheers.

26 Jul 2022 15:31:47
Decee I see him getting more goals like the West Ham game. Lawrence and matondo will be good for kent imo.

26 Jul 2022 15:44:09
Ryan kent does need to add goals to his game 1872BLUE and should be hitting into the double figures but common pal, his assists are much better than pretty average ?His assists are good and i believe 22 last year ? Doesn't need to brush up on his assists as they're on the money for me?.

26 Jul 2022 15:49:25
Assist the assist? We are getting desperate now!
If he contributed as much goals as Sakala, I’d be a happy man.

{Ed001's Note - they actually give the 'second assist' as a stat now.}

26 Jul 2022 16:31:11
Thanks for the info Coops, I didn't realise he had contributed so many assists last season; I thought it was in the teens so I stand corrected. How did he compare against the likes of Jota and Abada because those on the east end were going crazy for their statslast season?

MPH, sometimes assisting the assist (or 2nd assist - thanks Ed) can be a more telling contribution than the assist itself, I don't think it's desperate to give weight to key moments in a game.

{Ed001's Note - to be fair it was what David Silva was so good at.}

26 Jul 2022 17:32:27
Walter 20 assists and 3 goals. So many only credit him with two, forgetting his goal at red star.

26 Jul 2022 17:37:53
I didn’t know that, Ed001.
I do get that, 1872Blue, about a telling contribution.
But it’s his goal scoring ( or lack off ) that is more concerning.

{Ed001's Note - recent thing MPH. I don't personally like stats in football as it is a team sport that involves multiple moving parts and they give no context and so no actually idea of how good or bad a player is. That is why Brentford dumped their recruitment model based on stats and went back to a scouting model. They merely use stats to help identify players to scout now.}

26 Jul 2022 18:27:25
Agreed MPH. Thanks for the info Ed.

{Ed001's Note - welcome.}

26 Jul 2022 18:39:38
Ed1 this is a model that is favoured by rangers now.

{Ed001's Note - the scouting or pure stats one?}

26 jul 2022 18:47:34
i totally agreeed, stats on players can be extremely misleading, mph stats are great reading often, but actual stats on assists and suchlike are very hit and miss, an assist can be accidental or even a slightest touch. i don't even read them.

26 Jul 2022 18:54:59
Scouting.

{Ed001's Note - ok cheers. much better method.}

26 Jul 2022 19:16:31
J25 if I read you right I wouldn’t be surprised if Rangers are going off Stats. I said to my mate last week I feel lie Ross Wilson is living the movie Moneyball.

26 Jul 2022 19:23:18
I agree Ed never been the biggest stats man that’s why I don’t know much about how many players have assisted etc…. I see the point in goals but assists not for me.

26 Jul 2022 21:18:04
Rangers use stats to allow them to target who they r to scout. It’s really the first sift.

26 Jul 2022 21:40:10
The only meaningful stat is the Goals Scored being more that the goals conceded, how many games did we dominate last season and drop points.

26 Jul 2022 23:00:09
I'm with you on that storm. goals scored is a vital stat, assists involve too many nuances and are far less relevant.
