Had a fresh thought about things. Its all been about losing out on money regarding contracts but maybe if board aren't that concerned it's better to keep this squad together even if lose some. I for one have loved some of what we've achieved 55 and Europe. With the way Gio had them in Europe perhaps the best way to gain £30m of champions league is to keep them rather than sell for £30m and hope new players gel quickly. ( could still sell after qualifiers anyway or in Jan for bit less) . think contrast with last season we came back looking seriously demotivated perhaps due to complacency of ease of 55 and Celtic looking a mess and SGs uncertainty. This season a new start, a need to do better, and last chance for some to play in champions league before big move could mean good start. What's to say they don't do a Goldson too? Making money is important obviously but so is keeping a good team together and we've got one. Sell off the dead wood and bring through the youth and looks pretty good to me. Apologies for long text and rare notes of positivity.

And what if we don't qualify for CL or win title 2 things this team couldn't do last year. We need to start behaving like a top football club. Realise our assets at the best time refresh squad and improve it where possible. If any player wants to go sell them and reinvest that money.

i think stevie g left caus he never got nisbet.

28 Jun 2022 09:46:14
If that's why stevie g left the good cause Nisbet wouldn't have won us the league he nowhere near our level.

28 Jun 2022 09:51:08
Not saying we shouldn't make new signings too. A quality CB, a RW and a new ST to challenge or play with Morelos. But don't need the desperation or panic over selling our stars.

28 Jun 2022 10:13:46
Nisbet ??.

28 Jun 2022 10:36:35
I can't see Gerrard taking the huff over Nisbett???.

28 Jun 2022 10:45:04
I for one I'm rather glad we didn't get Nisbet.

28 Jun 2022 11:19:55
Stevie G wanted back to England regardles, certainly nothing to do with Kevin Nisbet. the tipping point was the club banning lennon etc from ibrox for europa league commentary duty with bt. Felt it was bitter and petty and was the final decision maker for him is my info.

Great post @kaisercaullid

The only issue being the disharmony caused by too many people running down there last year

Big Goldson was an exception to the rule as he was professional to his last day

And great point, we can still sell if we get through to the champs league proper

As I said before, also a great shop window for players like Kent and Morelos, who may fetch bigger fees in the last few days of the window.

The team needs refreshed even if that means losing one or two top performers, new contracts or sell them is the only way to go.

28 Jun 2022 12:44:45
Sorry colly, don't really get what he saying. Team needs refreshed, new contracts or sell. New contracts won't refresh the team. I for one would be concerned if we sold more than 1 top performer. How do replace like with better for less money. We should only sell them if we can bring in just as good or better else we are going backward.

28 Jun 2022 13:08:46
Kevin Nisbet may not have been at the level some want, but he would have scored the chance that Ryan Kent had right at the end of the Europa League final.

28 Jun 2022 13:43:39
You need to add "in your opinion" to that DoTheBouncy. How do we know he would have even been in the position to have a crack?

28 Jun 2022 15:11:12
Absolutely correct herewego.

28 Jun 2022 15:49:25
Agreed 100% HWG55 but the bigots in our club all that rubbish up at the time.

If and it’s a big IF SG left because he didn’t get nesbitt than am glad he is away. Not for one min do I think that is the reason tho.

28 Jun 2022 16:23:43
That's really interesting herewego55 and, if true, I have to agree with SG. I really dislike Neil Lennon with a vengeance but, as a club, we should rise above petty vendettas in my opinion. A magnificent global institution like our club should not get embroiled in inane, parochial, playground squabbles.

28 Jun 2022 17:24:29
It's 100% true mate, there had been complaints from sg before this about some of the off field stuff, and what he saw as a lack of class. That was final straw.

28 Jun 2022 17:35:46
Thanks pal, that's really good information and is very disappointing. SG did a lot in his time at Rangers to raise the standards; it's a real shame the directors didn't have similar ambitions to rise above the bile and the noise.

28 Jun 2022 18:12:32
1872 what herewego says is the straw that broke the camel’s back.
Many on here don’t like to hear it.

28 Jun 2022 20:24:50
Thanks John. Do you know if this parochial attitude is rife at senior levels in our club or is it just a few at the very top?

I just find it distasteful and very disappointing as I would always want our club to set high standards and do the right thing wherever possible.

29 Jun 2022 09:08:15
1872. No it is not rife. One or two maximum.

Thanks, appreciate your response.
