Just read this and if accurate I am shocked at how much we undervalue our players

"Liverpool have completed the signing of 18-year-old Scottish right-back Calvin Ramsay from Aberdeen on a five-year deal for an initial £4.2m.

The deal for the Scotland Under-21 player for £4.5m also includes £2.5m of potential add-ons and a 17.5% sell-on clause. "

Is the sheep can secure this for Ramsey then it shows poor management for the deal we had for Rory Wilson. Time and time again we lose our players for next to nothing whilst other teams seem to prosper, it seems something in the way we structure our sales needs a long hard look at yet we let Wilson go for £350k plus 10% sell on hmmmmmm

Then we have stories circulating for el buff for less than £7m WTF!

Sorry rant over.

Agree0 Disagree0

Kiwiger, surely you understand the difference? Ramsay is already an under 21 international. At 18che has already played a full season in the SPL. Wilson never even appeared for our B team and the fee was not a transfer fee but a development fee as he was never signing for us anyway. As for your Morelos comment, who said we were considering selling him for that money? WTF indeed!

Kiwi, can u explain how a player ie Wilson who is a free given his amateur contract had expired, who refused to sign a deal is worth more. Remember this lad did not want to stay.
Also Mullholland says add ons will potentially get us another million,
I’m really interested.
What u should be doing is take the beer goggles off and look at the twelve million plus addons, plus 20% we got for Paterson a player Gio described as a reserve player.

Stories re buff has this came from Wilson.

19 Jun 2022 12:38:34
We had no option to let Wilson go as he had refused to sign pro terms with us. The fee for those isn't negotiated, it's calculated.

19 Jun 2022 12:44:57
2 totally different scenarios.
One was still to sign his first pro contract at 16 ( Wilson ) .
The other has played for the Aberdeen first team.

19 Jun 2022 12:46:52
Totally different situation tho. Am sure Ramsey was under a good length contract at Aberdeen. Rory Wilson wasn't at rangers.

19 Jun 2022 12:48:38
We didn’t have Wilson under a professional contract, how could we get more money? I’d love your insight into how you would approach this discussing with Villa? It’s not as easy just to say, we want more.

The price of a player is so heavily weighted to their current contract. Why would any club (including Rangers) pay more money for a player you can approach to sign for nothing in 6 months? Did Dundee undervalue Kemara selling him to us for £50k or did they realise it was £50k or nothing?

Ramsey still had 2 years on his current contract and he’ll probably be sold in the future for more than the £4.2m reported. Even if Liverpool sell him at 21 he is still young.

Alfie, Kent and Aribo need to sign or sell towards the end of the window. The price we get will depend on the champions league. I reckon these three players are worth £45m however, with 12 months on their contract we’ll be lucky (or unlucky) to get £18m

This again is why it’s imperative to sell players at the right time, Bassey for example. He’s a £20m/ £25m player everyday of the week, however, next year if he only has 12 month on his contract we’d be lucky to get £10m.

19 Jun 2022 12:51:44
Where you been kiwiger? Lots of chat on here over last few days and weeks that answers this for you. 2 completely different situations. Cross border development fee is all we are entitled to which is £350k. Wilson didn’t want to sign pro contract with us. Not much the club can do other than try to negotiate some add ins which they’ve done. Ramsey is a pro under contract so Aberdeen can negotiate a fee to sell.

19 Jun 2022 12:52:53
Rory Wilson wasn't on a professional contract that's why.

19 Jun 2022 12:53:14
And couldn't be on one due to his age.

19 Jun 2022 12:54:45
Compare it to Patterson lol not Wilson who didn’t even play a b team game. Silly comparison.

19 Jun 2022 12:55:35
Kiwi - you aren't comparing apples with apples here. Wilson wasn't on professional terms and wasn't willing to sign professional terms with Rangers. We weren't in a strong position to negotiate a larger fee and he's literally just turned 16 and not even played for the B team. A more accurate for Ramsay would be Nathan Paterson. We got £12m plus add ons for him (and he has less first team experience than Ramsay and didn't make the starting 11).

19 Jun 2022 12:57:16
And we haven't sold Alfredo for £7m. So again. not relevant. I really don't care what price tag the media put on players. And try not to worry. Ross Wilson has shown he's able to get good money for players - Southampton did alright!

19 Jun 2022 12:58:52
Wilson never signed a pro deal with rangers so this is not the same thing as Ramsey and Liverpool .

You are ranting about something you obviously don’t know anything about.

19 Jun 2022 13:46:07
Kiwi as allude to many Rangers were only entitled to a developmental fee for Wilson.
So in actual fact to be Abel to negotiate addons with the potential of a good sell on fee is exceptional business from Wilson.
Also credit to villa for in fact playing fair as they were well within their rights to only pay 350k.

19 Jun 2022 14:02:04
Any idea john how much the sell on fee is?

19 Jun 2022 14:19:08
Mark seen two figures. One says 10%. Other in Birmingham news says 17:5 %.

19 Jun 2022 15:07:23
I actually think the Wilson thing is more than just money; does the boy see the lowland league and loan moves as a good part of his development? Playing in England youth levels are far better imo.

19 Jun 2022 15:21:00
We have just received 12 million for our 2nd choice right back.

19 Jun 2022 16:29:13
Sweep you would need to ask him.

19 Jun 2022 17:09:25
I think the original poster just means in general guys
A lot of Gerrards signings left with us making any profit whether they cost a penny too a couple million in wages etc
I think in general it’s a part of the club we need to do better generally.
we’re always happy to pay big wages and pay the transfer fee we’re not so good getting it back when they go.
Just my general opinion with where the club is right now
Will be clearer too see if any first team starters leave this summer no matter what’s left of there contract we have to be looking for proffit and value them approximately for what they have achieved- Europa league finalists and past league winners etc
I think we can all agree it’s an area we need to improve on and this summer could tell us where we are at.

19 jun 2022 18:01:50
on the oother hand stig, there’s people screaming to not sell any of our top players, we cannot have it both ways, only our top players are valuable, we must sell some now.

19 Jun 2022 18:03:31
Stig he clearly mentioned deal re Rory Wilson.

19 jun 2022 18:14:49
no stig, he obviously didn’t know that wilson wasn’t a professional and that he didn’t want to play for rangers, good luck and goodbye, , kiwi should understand that we got more than double what aberdeen got for our stand in prospect paterson

attacking rangers board seems to be a regular thing for some people here,

very very short memory indeed.

19 Jun 2022 22:05:56
Jeez guys I didn’t think that this would spark so much bitching about my knowledge of whether a player has singed a professional contract or not. I was fully aware that Wilson had not signed a professional contract and Stig not the nail on the head, yes I mentioned Wilson but the issue is bigger than one player, Patterson was an excellent sale. But my point is if we are going to let out good players go whether or not they have played in the first team we must look to value them appropriately, and don’t give the “they are only worth what somebody is willing to pay”
We historically have never been a selling team and are quite happy to take on players at a high cost or a high wage and not recoup any money in the long term.
If we are coaching these younger players who seem to have great potential why not play them in early cup games in the first team, get them in the public view and then we can look to command better sell on prices.

20 Jun 2022 07:46:56
You’re spot on Kiwiger, some on here don’t have a clue how ‘selling’ works or should work.

Somebody said the other day 1.5 for Katic was fair! We paid 2 for him! Seriously what a lot of crap!

We are terrible ‘on the whole’ in selling players! And fans in general don’t have a scooby!

A real bug bare for me too! Other example is Buff! Some here think 6/ 8 is good money!

?.

20 Jun 2022 08:28:13
Kiwiger, not sure anyone was bitching

I think they were pointing out the difference between amateur and professional contracts

The facts are

1 - Wilson’s amateur contract came to an end
2 - He didn’t want to sign a professional contract with us
3 - He was not at any point in the near future going to get a game as a striker in the first team

Therefor in my opinion the contract we could offer him would reflect that, which would be in line with a player of his age within our wage structure aprox £2-3k a week

There’s one reason he’s away down south and we all know it’s the £.

20 Jun 2022 12:49:17
Correct Sydney he is just trying to back track now.
