Not much going on just now, so would like to ask after watching the Scotland game last night.

Who was it that was reprimanded along with Our goalie McGregor for giving the vickie sign to the cameras a while back on the world cup.

Was it Barry Ferguson? .

Agree0 Disagree0

Sure was Bill, silly gesture, very childish, but sometimes we forget

They’re football players,

26 Mar 2021 17:37:04
Thanks Tom,

Was not sure or even why they did it, as you say they are professional football players and should have known better.

Cheers mate.

Yip, your correct. He also went in a huff when he found out Arteta was getting paid more than him.

26 Mar 2021 18:06:55
No wonder as baz carried rangers himself in parts of his illustrious rangers career and i actually rated and liked mikel arteta!

26 Mar 2021 18:37:32
Fergie and Arteta were superb in the middle of the park for us, absolutely loved that pairing.

26 Mar 2021 19:18:22
Ferguson couldn't hack it, he was captain and getting paid less than Arteta, that's the only reason he left for Blackburn.

26 Mar 2021 19:19:23
Barry Ferguson left Rangers for Blackburn Rovers .

Rangers for Blackburn Rovers

For more money and fight relegation every year.

Back up the road after a few years

Still one thing you can say about Ferguson someone wanted to buy him and play at a better level . You get some players who stay in Scotland their full careers because SPFL is there level and comfort zone ie Scott Brown.

26 Mar 2021 21:26:43
Barry was sold by Rangers to rovers because they needed the cash to appease the bank urgently, Barry was offered big money by rovers and signed, helping Rangers and his earnings.

26 Mar 2021 22:00:24
Was it not Souness that was manger of Blackburn who signed Barry .
McGregor and Barry accepted the drinking session but Scott Brown there as well got off Scott free.

Spot on tomthumb12 some people have short memories and are not doing their homework before posting.

27 Mar 2021 08:51:13
Double standards again TT?

Barry and McGregor act like petulant children and get banned - they’re just footballers

Bassey, Paterson etc go to a private party breaking C.V. restrictions - hang them from the nearest tree, they should never play for Rangers again!

Diehard Rangers fans think it’s important to gather to celebrate 55 - they are not fans, shoot the lot of them

You have family around to your house under lockdown - that’s fine cause you are poorly and your niece works in healthcare!

Everyone entitled to an opinion but a bit of consistency of opinion makes for better debate.

Ferguson was a good footballer but a bellend of a guy. He could make 50yrd passes but no one else could as he'd run over and take the ball off his own player from 2ft away. When in possession the key is to expand your pitch and narrow it out of possession. Ferguson would continue to close in his own player to get the ball. Not because he didn't know this because as much as I don't like him the guy was a technical player, it was because he thought he was more important than the team and the principles of play. I know folk love him but his petulance and attitude surely must come into it when being a legend. Richard Gough never once acted like a wee child on the pitch and Gough was world class. Cooper stayed when rangers were crap and Gregg tried to play football that didn't include coops, when durrant was cut down by that animal he never gave up and walked away even knowing he was no longer the same player. These men are only a tiny example of the men who carried themselves with grace and dignity that our club demands. Ferguson isn't liked by some because he didn't behave like that. We have underperformed in youth development and believe me a Barry Ferguson running across the pitch screaming at you to give him the ball from 2ft away and only him didn't help youngsters develop. Why has Barry never been offered a job at the club. Reason he'd try and take over and it would be all about him. At no time do I think he wasn't a good footballer but he wasn't as good as some think and especially as much as Barry himself thought.

TT12, exactly mate, baz was sold as rangers very badly needed cash absolutely nothing at all regarding mikel arteta allegedly getting more wages than him 😂😂.

Great Post Livibear, I think that can sum Barry up pretty well. I know what u mean about taking the ball off his team mates at times he also done it for Scotland. It’s something I noticed and remeber well. But wouldn’t u put that down to a will to win and a desperation to get the ball and move it forward and perhaps knowing others didn’t have the same technical ability as him to do just that? He was desperate to succeed and be the very best. Desperate to win. Perhaps at times his heart rules his head without doubt it did actually. I agree the reason he hasn’t been brought into the club in some capacity is he would try and takeover and would try and undermine managers coaches etc as he’d have his eye on their job. I agree on that. Only part I don’t agree is that he was indeed as good as he thought and perhaps better. He was world class before his knees started going and even down at Blackburn I seen him controlling a game against liverpool one day from start to finish. Pure class act. He recently said billy gilmour is a better player than he was at that age. So he is also not as up himself as u say. But I like your post mate 👍🏼.

{Ed001's Note - it was a fashion at the time for the playmaking midfielder to do that, I used to get really annoyed with Jamie Redknapp doing the exact same thing for Liverpool. Thankfully it died out quickly.}

27 Mar 2021 10:41:16
Utter nonsense. Ferguson left because Arteta was getting paid more than him. He argued he was the captain of Rangers but he never got any more money. That is a fact.

27 Mar 2021 12:02:22
If Ferguson left because Rangers badly needed the cash, why did we buy him back for £4.5 million?
Great player for Rangers but hardly a world beater with his choice of move to Blackburn and later Birmingham.
I never seen any of the top clubs in the world come in for him?

27 Mar 2021 12:05:39
Hopefully not the same niece that was at George Square celebrating Rangers title win. 😲.

27 Mar 2021 12:25:40
Should never have been brought back, was the invisible man.

27 Mar 2021 12:53:56
You're a really funny guy BIGIKS, so you are pal😂😂.

27 Mar 2021 21:06:57
Dik, utterly despicable , utterly shocking,

27 Mar 2021 22:04:25
Pathetic.
