Something a wee bit different to get the old memories flooding back. We can all remember great Rangers teams and great Rangers players but what is the best performance you have ever seen from a visiting player. Not the best player that's visited, the best performance.
Mine is Juan Roman Riquelme for Villareal at Ibrox. The guy never left the centre circle but completely controlled the game. He always had space and his range of passing with both feet was outstanding. He left the pitch that night with his strip as clean as when he first put it on. What a performance.

Del piero when juventus humped us 4-0 at ibrox in 95. I was in awe of him he absolutely terrorised big gough and co at the back I left the stadium that night disappointed but absolutely blown away by the way they played their football, a joy to watch.

Franz Beckenbauer playing for B Munich at Ibrox 1971. Think was first round tie and we drew 1-1 before losing narrowly in Germany. Was my first big European match and thought Beckenbauer was playing a different game from everyone else on the park, hardly breaking sweat and pinging passes from central defence and always finding a teammate. Amazing performance.

1961, when Dundee beat us 5-1 at Ibrox and Alan Gilzean scored 4 goals. Dundee went on to be champions that season. Gilzean is the best centre forward I think I've seen when in his prime. I was only 10 years old.

I'm of the older generation when footballers where real men and didn't roll about screaming, when they feel a wee tap on the shoulder. Now back to the question. I would agree with most that have already posted, however all of those great players above played in great teams, with fine players around them.
So my choice on the best performance against us comes from the late great david cooper. Tore our defence a new one on three occasions in the matches rangers vs the bankies. Esp the game at ibrox. Unbelievable performance. I was young and because of performance clydebank became my second team. Did any of you fellow bears manage to see any of the games. I was at all three.

I didn’t know Kempes played against rangers just looked it up I was 1 😂 can remember watching reruns of 78 World Cup what a player.

Weeblueguy, i remember the cup game against the bankies in the 70's with all the replays and the late great davie 'super' cooper playing against us for clydebank 👌He was outstanding against us and gave us a torrid time 👌I was at the games with my dad, my uncles, pals and cousins ðŸ‘Coop had some skill and you're spot on to say this about him playing agsinst us! All the wonderful players named above, we're all superb against us, but for me coop had as much skill as anyone of them and it was little wonder we bought super cooper from the bankies not long after we eventually put them out the cup 👌 What an unbelievable talent cooper was 👌 Even the world class ruud guilit said he was world class and could have played for any team,
in any league, in the world 👌🇬🇧.

Bankie, Beckenbaur and 9 or 10 of the German international team playing for Bayern, got turned over at Ibrox following year. Derek Parlane, in for John Greig, scored, some night, especially as what happened across the city same night.
As for players Del Piero was a wee bit special, and never seemed to break sweat.

DOIGER you’re right about Alan Gilzean what a centre forward he was. I remember him scoring the winner v England in 1964 I think it was.

As The wee blueguy and myself have been reminiscing about coops performances for the bankies in those legendary marathon cup replays of the mid 70's against rangers, surely both TT12 and John25 can remember these games 🤔I thought we were never getting through 😂.

Weeblueguy, Particularly remember the fist game, a 3-3 draw at Ibrox when Cooper, Larnoch and Fallon were excellent. I was in the old Copeland Road end and the Gers fans around me could not believe what they were seeing. Cooper was wonderful player and recall he travelled to South America with Scotland that season before signing for the Gers.

You've got the perfect name 'bankie'ðŸ‘🇬🇧Cooper was an incredible talented footballer and i felt privileged i got to see coops playing for us, in the flesh 👌 Spot on bankie ðŸ‘, coops was superb against us and wasn't long after those marathon games that we bought coop from clydebank and did the deal in the car park i believe with the bankies jack steadman 🤔Was it not 100k we paid for coops 🤔.

Hi all, great post regarding all these players, I was at the Rangers v Clydebank game and Cooper was brilliant, the cup game just before that I was working in Methil and went to the East Fife v Clydebank cup game which Clydebank won 6-0, Cooper was electrifying and I said to my mate I would love to see him in a Gers jersey, the rest is history, Oh and Larnock scored 3 that day but Coops was MOTM by a street mile. Oh the good old days, so it's Coops for me.

Coops, yes £100k for Davie Cooper. At the time Aston Villa wanted him badly and they had earlier had great success in the Scottish market with Andy Gray. Once Davie knew the Gers were interested he was going no where but Ibrox.

MiOCBear, believe the other goal that day was scored by a certain Andy Penman., then a young winger at Dundee and future Gers midfielder. Think Andy was on the bench when we won Cup Winners Cup in 1972.
