i used to have two vans on the road, always remember a wee kid asking what he could get for 5 p and i gave him an empty ginger bottle, the look on his face was forever memorable.

I love old yesteryear . I delivered the evening times on a Sat, got paid 10 bob then went to the chippy for a half pizza supper

I was lucky, I always had cash, my parents had a shop in those days and they sold everything from the papers to fruit n veg, and I delivered papers every night and about 2000 on a Sunday, in those days every house bought at least 2 Sunday papers, then we would gamble all day, cards up a close then everything from moshiee to wally and even gamble on kerby and who could nip mary Smith, I went on to play football for quite a few clubs and sold my parents business to start my own when I quit playing, now I have to remind myself of those early Sunday morning and gambling so much cash in 1974 when ordinary working people were struggling, but i only ever heard laughter and banter, and the occasional fight, oh to be back there.
