My dad is a Clyde FC supporter and was trying to get me to follow in his footsteps but hearing Mccoists name on the radio all the time because he scored goals and then watching the goals on Scotsport when I was too young to go to the games myself was what made me a Rangers fan. Meeting Mccoist when I was 8 years old one night at the Speedway at Shawfield also helped seal the deal for me.
Romario again was just a born goalscorer and I loved watching Brazil. He seemed to score every game.
Strange that its 2 strikers that were my heros and I ended up playing midfield. Zinedine Zidane a bit later on was a bit of a hero too.

TEAM: Alan Gilzean (Dundee) Baxter (Rangers)
NATIONAL: Pele
Born in Dundee, before I was old enough to travel to see Rangers my Dad took me to Dundee's games. Gilzean was the best centre forward I have seen. Then when I was old enough to follow Gers, Slim Jim was my hero.
Pele is without equal in my view, a totally magnificent player.

Club- Gio or Barry Ferguson. Gio was the model pro and Baz just made me proud a local lad could hold his own in some very good company.
International- shevchenko, born goalscorer, my step dad was an AC Milan fan and I looked (and I feel played 😉) like him growing up!
