Like you Onewaltersmith, i would not be surprised in the least, if ryan kent was player of the year this season. Playing in his natural role,
there's not a shred of doubt that kenty has the quality to destroy teams and be player of the year. He's a talented player!

I’d like SG to try him on the right wing. Think he would be more effective and would certainly get more assists if he can hit the bye line. Cuts inside into too many players all the time on the left.

Baz the bear, I was saying that all last season, he has loads of talent/ trickery but when he's on the left the effect of it is lost when he has to stop and cut back in onto his right foot. I too hope he's given a place on the right.

I really hope so guys because last season he looked way off what a player of his price tag should be. Tbh I always felt the fee was way too big but that's not Kents fault.

Remember his first game back he got injured after 30 mins or so and was out for weeks. Not making excuses for him but it definitely could’ve had some sort of baring on his performances. Hopefully he can start the season fit and firing on all cylinders. He is definitely a confidence player!

Beale and Gerrard like the guys to cut in on to their dominant foot, more an inside forward than out and out winger. That was the plan last season, may yet change this year! See the idea that we need wingers to stretch teams- especially when they sit with so many men back.

I envy your optimising boys. Out of curiosity, from a Rangers point of view where did you rate Kent’s season last years. From a Rangers point of view I have him behind Morelos, Defoe, Jack, Davis, McGregor, Tav, Borna, Goodson and Katic. So roughly our tenth best player. And Celtic have another 11 better than those.
But you all have Kent for player of the year before the season has even started?
For you information, Kent may have a lot of skill but he doesn’t have any game intelligence and is extremely predictable.
He must be a dream for opposition managers to come up against! Put 3 men on him and he runs straight into them, doesn’t have the intelligence to pass the ball and drag the players away with a fake run.
I thought Dorrans was the worst Rangers player I had seen come here with a big reputation - but if Kent doesn’t get his act together he will be taking that mantle.
He (like others) are in desperate need of good coaching.

Kent was poor last season no doubt about that but for your information most folk on here remember how he played 2 seasons ago when he won young player of year.

Yeah I remember him getting young player of the year also. Did he get enough goals that’s season for a Rangers forward - NO. Did he get enough assists that’s season for a rangers forward - NO. A rangers forward should get double figures for at least one of those!
What’s your point other than he is going backwards in his development under SG?

SGL - I want players to play at a high level for an entire season, not just a game here or there, whenever they feel like it. That’s not the Rangers way.
But far too many on here are happy with mediocrity and more and more are celebrating failure.
The fact is atm Kent is not consistent enough to be a starter, week in week out.
I like you hope he develops into something special. But I just can’t see that happening at our club, I don’t see any evidence to suggest that we have the staff that can take a raw talent and polish them into the finished article.

Candeias wasn't good enough because he didn't score or assist enough goals. Kent has to do better as do all the forward players.
I don't think it's a coincidence that is the case with our set up.
4-3-3 is great against teams who also attack but not great when teams sit in and compact the last 3rd.
4-2-3-1 or 3-5-2 would be better in my opinion. Having said that, you've got to trust the management team.

I totally agree that wingers are best utilised when the opponents push the defence up to the halfway line and attack, this is why Kent’s best games last season were against Celtic and the Braga away game, 2 of our toughest games on paper and he flourished for that exact reason, I totally agree.
