Who on here actually thinks this group of players are good enough to win the league? Be true to yourself, i think its about 5 starters short of a title winning side.

At the moment were not good enough to win the league. We have some good players but for some reason Gerrard plays them out of position and at times his substitutions are left late or he doesn't seem to change the format to be able to compete with indivdual teams. So, some quality is very much needed over quantity.

I would say 3 class acts short and we've proved we're a good team sweep1 and capable of beating them!
Its consistency against the smaller teams that sit in are our problems. I believe hagi and kent playing in his natural position, will be the key this season, of getting down the sides with kent opening them up and centrally with hagi in the no.10 role opening stuffy teams up!

A lot depends on whether we lose Morelos and Barisic. If we do then I would agree that we need five, maybe even six first team players. Otherwise three or four genuine quality players should suffice although I would like us to make some money on Kamara since I don't see him as having the fighting qualities needed. I would like to see us sign a quality holding midfield player, a quality striker, two if Morelos goes a quality winger and a centre back / sweeper. I suspect that we see a better player in Kent, Aribo and Hagi this coming season but for me, Davis is well past his best and it worries me that he could be muscled out of the game against Aberdeen first game of the season!

I think a decent manager could win the league with this team. The players have shown they are a match for anyone on their day. But far too often they come up against a stubborn defence and out manager doesn’t have a clue on how to break them down. Far too often games run away from him and everyone can see what’s happening except him. We have no plan B.

Listening to some continual doom and gloom merchants on here Snell, we would be as well not taking to the field. Not a chance do i see it that way, as the ANTHILL MOB are honestly nothing special and football doesn't work in nae chance as our good friend DSGERSFAN puts it! Get behind the club for god's sake and wait and see who we sign and what unfolds throughout the season. Honestly snell i think we'll win the league ðŸ‘.

I think we will see a bit of Transfer activity during the remainder of this month. I am sure Ross Wilson and Steven Gerrard are doing a lot of work behind the scenes. Wait and see>.

We showed them how to do it until Christmas and most felt that we were favourites at that point.
Our form and confidence then dipped whilst Celtic became stronger.
For me we need two or three max unless we sell our best. One attacking midfielder who can score 10+ in a season, one midfield general to sit in front of the defence and one striker to challenge Morelos for the whole season.
Davis will not last the season, Defoe should be an impact sub.
Then we still need an extra man through the tough times to encourage the players - supporters not of the sunshine variety.

Personally don't think in doom and gloom only facts. The season finished with us being 13 points behind (with a game in hand) . I can accept that we could have caught Celtic and won the league. However SGL - can you accept that the more probable ending would have been us finishing around 20 points behind Celtic and SG getting the sack!
If you accept one version of what could have happened then you surely have to accept the opposite as well, because let's face it. That was more likely being in mind the form we were in - losing 2 of our previous 3 matches.
personally I think SG has got what it takes to become a great coach, but he far from the finished article and makes the same mistakes over and over and over again!
Tell me how many times he played Kent as a No. 10. Then tell me how many times he had a good game in that role. Everyone of us could see that he was rank in that position yet he kept playing the lad there. That isn't good coaching or management - it's anything but. He shot that kids confidence to hell!
In club football if you haven't got the personnel to play a certain system then change the system. There are plenty others out there doing that exact thing. Even over the city, they changed it a few times over the season, keeping the opposition guessing and getting the best out of their squad.
Not us - same formation and style time and time again. And when it isn't working, make a like for like change with 10 min left and pray we get a penalty - Oh and don't start me on penalties!
Negativity over with - let's hope he last year and how to become a better manager and succeed this season.

Guys i'd love to be proved wrong but when it comes to scottish football well i personaly think SG is clueless with his tactics or still underestimates our league just hope he doesn't bring anymore young boys from liverpool we need hardened pros.

SGL - that nothing special team were 13 points in front of us before the season got cut short, so what does that make us mate? We need more quality, we need commitment for 90 mins, for every game of the season. I do think we'll get some great signings, some big name Defoe signings perhaps.

Tommy I think sgl loyal is referring to the fact it would be 9 3/ 4 if the unwashed were to win meaning the following season would be the final before they reach a landmark as no title was won by them last season just awarded ðŸ‘ðŸ‘
On the debate kja9 you think exact same as me need 3 players to go straight into the squad and possibly a few decent loans or acquisitions to strengthen our bench.
I think for starters dykes and Ferguson will be 2 bought for the bench, possibly a premship Cb loan, and 2 quality signings none of us would probably guess, due to cv I doubt they'll be massive amounts of movements in the transfer window so be prepared to start backing our current players if they don't leave ie morelos, tav, Kent, aribo, Goldson to name a few.
Sgl loyal yep I reckon with a slight attitude or mental adjustment in a few players, Gerrard learning a few lessons and the unwashed losing a good few players so far and quite a fair bit of rebuilding, this season will be ours.

our first team pick is good enough, it proved it was good enough up to new year. unfortunately the back ups arent. we took a few injuries into the new year and it all fell apart. so we need better quality coming off the bench or better as first team and use those replaced on the bench. we don't have players on the bench when the squad is depleted that are game changers.

Totally Agree with Gerrarg substitutions. I end up shouting for him to make them early when it isn't working and more ofter than not first sub is 60 mins.
Whats the fn point when it hasn't worked in the first half. Love the football Gerrard but if it doesn't work change it early.
