Renata tapia at right back and push tav up to right wing?
Think this would be good every time tav goes forward it looks like something could happen just imagine if he was going forward there for the whole game I think he would be out standing.

Tav as a winger - apart from fitness no other winger attributes. I think he could do a job in the middle of the park. He has one of the best engines in the team. Very good in the air, can tackle, is powerful and can brush people off and hold them off no bother. Perhaps he is not accurate enough with his passing or mentally quick enough for the midfield position otherwise IMO he would be in there. Maybe that's why he's ended up at RB.

You're right coldo tapia is a peruvian defensive mid, who played against us for feyenoord, in this season's europa league group games mate. He did look a good player tbh.

Covenanter may have a better idea of players changing positions and the shape of a team changing, the shape is the most important thing in any team imo, Gerard got the shape all wrong a few times against selling but changed and ran amok, great pity about cup final as that was a travesty, but I’m not sure about changing a guys natural game, maybe aging midfielder aye,

When will this nonsense about Tav being a midfielder ever end? If your idea was that great surely Gerrard or a previous manager would have tried it out. Tired of saying it, he does not have the attributes to be a creative midfielder, full stop.

Most folks wanted him to be right mid. I suggested center mid as a ball winner with a good engine however ended to say he obviously hasn't got what it takes hence ended up at RB. There is no doubt he could do a job in centre mid or another position for some other team but not for Rangers just now. Please note there are examples of wing-backs in the latter parts of their careers switching to the less energetic role of the holding midfielder.

Guys just reading a few of these posts, 1 or 2 potential green people, I'm really worried now, as our Manager still thinks Tavernier is Captain material, so, somebody's got something very wrong, for me, I trust our Manager and the Board to get it right.

Irvger hits the nail on the head for me. The issue is not Tav the full back, it is Tav the leader. We need a captain that leads by example, that motivates those around him and shows the way when needed. Players like John Greig, Souness, Butcher, Gough, Amoruso, that is what we need! There is not one leader in the team and there is a lack of a winning mentality that needs to change!

Tavs mince we need a right sided Barisic, tav flatters to deceive, he was good going forward the season before last because he and the candy man had a great understanding but he’s never been a great defender certainly not a captain I’d happily take a couple of mil for him.
