Wee question for our resident sports writer supercooper. Do you think may 2018 stevie g sat in front of the board and dave king said to him. Right son I want you to improve us in europe and I don't care if celtic win 2 trebles and 9 in a row. If our board are seriously happy with this then we are in big big trouble. I can't remember 1 manager surviving celtic winning a treble never mind 2.

No i don't fauldhoose bear but nobody has a crystal ball and can predict what football holds in the future. I'll ask you a question. I know the expectations of our club should always be to win trophies, but do you think steven gerrard has improved rangers and got them much closer to celtic, i do! We were getting totally embarrassed in old firm games 'till gerrard became our manager, that doesn't happen now pal! So that's improvement! I don't know to this day, how we didn't beat them in the league cup final in december as we totally outplayed them that we have under gerrard, in all but 2 old firm games under his tenure! Gerrard has beaten celtic 3 times in under 2 years as our manager, is that not big improvement or not, you tell me?
I still maintain that gerrard will win the league as rangers manager because although rangers in all probability won't win the league this season, i think gerrard will be here next season and imo can win the league for us. He has a mini rebuild this summer and i truly think he'll bring in the proper personel we need with a few being sold to give him that money to spend also, in his summer transfer kitty! He'll know now the sort of players we need for the scottish league, ie. physical as well as the talented players we've got. We are not far away from ending their dominance again IMO. Consistency is also a major element and we'll be well on our way. Get behind gerrard!

I recall warburton beating them semi final. I remember Murty getting 2 draws against them. I'm sure you said the exact same at this time last season that Gerrard would win us the league this season of that you were 200% sure of. I think he has made almost 30 signins in his time and I'm sure he must have noticed last season that the league was physical. The players believe everything he says according to the ones I have read or heard on tv. So they must believe they don't have the mentality to win as stevie has said this many many times.

Of course they will not be happy but we are not the financially strong club we were, Celtic have had years of champions league money building a squad over four or five years adding one or two quality signings every year, they can out spend us at will, look at the Jan transfer window they spent three or four million on players to just sit on their bench we got two loans so it’s not a level playing field
Let’s just say SG goes we then have to pay up the contract we just gave him what five million then bring in another manager with no guarantees where do we get the money to start again? I’d rather carry on and spend that money on the team we showed up till the break we can compete, whatever happened only inside the camp will know but we need two or three leaders and trim the dead wood they tried to do that in Jan but it’s hard to move players then .
I’d use what left of the season to try different systems and see if we can build confidence again then add in the summer that’s only my view I’ll be there on Wed just like I’ve been for last fourty years.

SGL good reply mate and I believe Stevie will come good if given the chance .

It will be painful if we drop further points behind timco tho.
We have been suffering for many many long years so a bit more won't kill us supporters.

Having said that, providing we give him a chance and he stays I'm convinced we can get to be top again next season.

Twacos. Your always going on about finance and we can't compete with them so what is the solution to this. They built a 60.000 seater to catch up with us as that brings in about 7 million a year more than we make so take that over 10 years. Can we add 10.000 seats to ibrox or can we get someone who is willing to put a 100 million out there own pocket. wee need a brendan Rodgers type signing dare I say it.

S. g. l. I was having a look online sbout gerrards records / per cent, wise compared to pedro, murty and warbortun, gerrard has higher p/ c than the others hands down, this was not for your benifit, it was for the benefit of guys on here saying they done better than gerrard, plus saves me fae posting a new story, lol.

Paulellen, we're hitting our heads off a brick wall here my friend, as a good few of us on here will never get through to Theswagman, fauldhoose bear, the stuck etc, that there's no doubt gerrard has improved us and we're much better than under the previous 3 manager's by a distance overall. They can't see it or don't want to see it, whichever! Granted we've still not won anything, but in keeping faith with gerrard, i truly believe he will win us silverware!

02 Mar 2020 23:11:08
Fauldhouse ; are you saying finances don’t matter? or are you saying we bring in another manager give him two years then even though he can’t match them in the transfer market if no trophies sack him?
We need to circle the wagons we’ve earned somewhere in the region of twenty million from Europe we have to sort out our kit deal we’re due four million I think or close to that from Hummel then next seasons season ticket money and we need two or three winners in the team I’ve been following them a long time I’ve sat in the ground with 13000 fans in it with a team that couldn’t beat Caseys drum but we came back and I’m convinced we can do it again but sacking our manager every two years will set us back.

03 Mar 2020 07:42:48
Guys I have never once said we have not improved but in all fairness I don't think it was difficult to improve. My full point it improving us was not the managers remit 2 years ago it would have been to deliver us some silverware which barring a miracle shall not be happening.

03 Mar 2020 08:30:50
Fauldhouse. Why don't you sit down and analyse Rodgers' signings. Maybe then you will dispel that notion.

03 Mar 2020 08:39:52
SGL. Haters going to hate you’re right pointless trying to reason with the usual suspects.

03 Mar 2020 08:41:25
SGL and twacoos, I wholly agree with what you say. The detractor brigade are only focussed on this 10IAR, I am convinced they would see us go bust again to stop this possibility, my view as I stated yesterday, is that we have to stabilise our Club financially, and hopefully this month we will get an indication of our plans in that respect. Too many also knock back proven decent players from other SPL Clubs as not being (Rangers Class), what is that, what we need is strong, hard players with a decent amount of skill, augmented with 2 possibly 3 higher quality playmakers. We have improved immensely in the last 18 months, both in football and financial terms, we simply just need to plod on until we get that trophy, it'll come soon, but we need to be solvent for the long term good of our Club.

03 Mar 2020 12:56:05
Super, I don't care what your imo is. It is just that, an opinion, no better or worse than anyone elses on here. When your start giving justification for your imo I'll start taking you seriously. Until then, I can only believe that you hope rather than believe sg wins the league at some point.

03 Mar 2020 13:27:40
Ivger; couldn’t agree more we have to sort out our kit deal that’s up to £5 mill a year get the money in that Hummel owe us use the money from Europe this year and season ticket money to buy three or four players winners in the mould of Butcher, Gough or even a hard tackler like Hurlock they don’t need to be Rangers men just winners and guys who will let’s the players know in the dressing room what’s expected but the most important thing is we must stay within budget we can’t go down that old toad again just to stop 10 in a row
We are going through a rough period but if we all stick together it will make us stronger I’ve had a season ticket for over thirty years I’ve seen the great times I’ve also seen the bad but we have always came back two years was never going to be long enough to build a completely new team especially with the financial constraints we have but this year in Europe we have earned close to £20 mill our kit deal is closer to being resolved so let’s stop the moaning I know Sat was very hard to accept but it’s gone let’s move in, there will be other set backs I’m sure but we will get there I’ve no doubt about that.
