Morning Bears. It has been hard to take since after the winter break and I can't fathom out how/ why a team that was really motoring up to the end of the year and in pole position after beating Celtic at the piggery can now be 12 points behind. It is the same team, same players, same manager. So what has gone wrong? Something must have happened in Dubai. I've always been prepared to give Gerrard three seasons to win silverware so hopefully he can get things sorted from now until the end of the season and win the Scottish Cup. The annoying thing is that Celtic are nothing special, but they are grinding out results when they need to. It's never over until the fat lady sings but lose the next two games this week and our season will be well and truly gone.

I think we lost a bit of momentum with the break. I can't believe the posts wanting Gerrard out - not you Doiger - it's absurd. We've been unlucky with injuries to Tavernier, Helander, Barisic, Defoe and Jack and Morelos' suspension doesn't help. One puzzle is the form of Kent.

You are right kfraser. Hardly mention on here the injuries we've had. Good players don't become bad overnight. We are missing Defoe and missed Jack too. Maybe Europa League glory beckons?

what were our stats when TAV was compared to since he has returned?

I am with you Doiger. I still want Gerrard here for a third season and before anyone jumps on the bandwagon and says its just because he is a celebrity I can assure you it isn't. I want him here because of the progress Rangers have made which is clear. We DO have a better calibre of player than before he came in. We HAVE done better in Europe which brings revenue with it and we ARE more competitive against Celtic.

Since the winter break we have been garbage, no doubt about it and the players have to take their share of the blame although I have stated on here before that I don't agree with SG berating his team in interviews. SG is still learning and is making mistakes. His inability to change tactics has been a frustration and his previous reluctance to make early substitutions was equally frustrating although that has improved in the last couple of games. These flaws aside I believe that by sticking with SG he will eventually learn from his mistakes and that he will be a good manager. I don't think his backroom team have the necessary experience at this level either. With the exception of Gary Mac I believe that all the other first team coaches came from youth football and Gary Macs CV as a manager/ assistant manager isn't that impressive. Maybe the coaching team in general are not strong enough or experienced enough to better advise SG.

Just a thought lads.

Not a bad post.

So MOC at the end of the season and just for saying sake we've won nothing then you would give him another season?

You talk about a calibre of player? Yes but don't forget we spent 7m on a player who has been totally dreadful. so I should hope so.

Europe is a bonus and your right we have done well but our league is our bread and butter.

Champions league is were we need to be for the money to role in.

You've mentioned the coaching team. We have now employed 3 rookie managers. Untried and untested. Regardless of what people think I want SG to do well but the job is just too big.

As1974 yes I woukd still keep Gerrard even if we win nothing this season. We have progressed and we are doing better in every competition since he came in. Another 2 reasons I would keep him is because firstly we simply can't afford to pay off him and his coaching team and secondly because I believe he will learn and become a good manager.

Having posted earlier about the first team coaching set up being too inexperienced I did a wee bit of googling. All the staff are very inexperienced at first team level and there is zero experience of Scottish football there. I think that is a big mistake.
