Five things I think would improve Scottish football for all. Players and supporters alike:

1. Summer football. Feel free to argue the semantics but let's notionally say Mid March to Early December.

2. VAR in the top league but a simplified version which confirms:

- Goal or not (ball over the line)
- Penalty or not.
- Offside or not
- Red card or not

Nothing daft like down south i. e. - was there a foul 5 mins ago in the build up to the contended throw in!

3. Minimum number of home grown Scots in the squad. Contentious maybe but maybe good for the wider game long term.

4. Referee interview post match to explain key decisions as they saw them. Not expecting every decision to be right or scrutinised as it's a tough job, but any key decision could be clarified.

5. Do away with replays. Games played to conclusion on the day. 30 mins extra time then pens.

We could throw in league structure, youth players, colts teams but I think this might distract for the moment. Interested to hear thoughts for and against and respect all sensible and constructive thoughts.

I4M.

sounds plausible.

Good conversation to get going. Immediate reaction is I don't think number three is legal? Maybe insist on youth but not sure there is an employment issue with nationality? Someone probably knows better than me! Also number 4 would never be allowed to happen unfortunately!

referee interviews -brilliant---what a rubbishshow that would be watching them explain their screwups.

post referee interviews would be a comedy show---that would follow the comedy show on the pitch---great post ibrox4me.

What I'd like to see.
1.No summer football but shutdown moved back into jan/ feb
2.VAR as per OP
3.Match day squads to Inc 3 academy products who must still be u21.
4.Cup ties played to finish.
5.League restructure, 3 leagues with a 4th league of U21s sides from any club of suitable size, with 3rd tier to include top 4 Premier U21 teams in 1st season then Promotion between 21s sides between league 3/ 4 2 up 2 down regardless of where they finish in league 3.
6.Removal of artificial surface in top flight.
7.Top flight split removed.
8.Home and away alternate weeks more often.
9.Any postponed games to take place in next available free mid-week.
10.Ref monitoring by ex refereeing panel set up to score and promote/ demote referees in a league basis.

1 . No
2.full var or nothing
3.no
4.refs would be stuttering wrecks getting interviewed after a rangers game
5.domestic cup games yes. europe no.

How could you do football from march to December, when every two years there is either a world cup or European championships. Not suggesting for one minute scotland would be there, but we do have foreign players playing for us who's national teams could be there?

After reading about VAR getting used on Thursday, it sounds it already is only used for what you described.

18 Feb 2020 16:58:17
Igglepiggle, there's already no replays in Europe mate.

18 Feb 2020 17:56:49
If you watch a lot of premier league games in England then you will see var is not all its cracked up to be. I initially thought that it was there to assist referees making decisions but its not, its TELLING them what decision to make. I think it should be re-named VIR, video instead of referee!

1 yes, but needs some thought. Other countries do it, and would get our teams up to speed before Euro qualifiers
2 yes, but needs thought and no silly decisions like in England
3 done it before, Souness era I think in Europe, that's how Pessley Wilson and others got a game
4 Will never happen
5 Definately.

Haha refs would be stuttering wrecks, either that or constantly coming down with laryngitis 😂🤣.
