This horrible weather is getting worse every winter so it looks like we are realy going to have to look at the football seasons argument .

I personally feel instead of scrapping winter football we should maybe consider adjusting the break say from 1st January to maybe 1st March giving teams better weather into the later summer season.

Any thoughts on this one guys.

Just to get us out of our teams performance saga for a wee while and to calm us down a bit.

A 3 month winter break you serious.

Yes Deemc, my suggestion is better than a complete end to the winter football in Britain.

I was realy hoping some posters would give suggestions and opinions on the subject tho, that's why I posted mine.

Impossible to then fit all the games in if 3 month winter break. Lucky if get 6 weeks off over the summer by time start euro qualifiers. And were now pretty much don't have any free dates until end of season as it is.

Financially don’t think many clubs could sustain no income for 3 months think it would be hard to re engage after that long as it summer too many other things on
But I’m sure finances would dictate it👍.

Bluebilly, that idea would never work, the only way your sugestion would work is the s. f. a would need to change the league, back to the old set up where teams played each othere once, kome and once away, for by that we would never be fit enough for european football, that's my opinion mate. plus the s. f. a. won't change a winning celtic set up, not until some team stops there 55in a row.

Some good sensible reply's so far guys, was not taking into consideration the EU games tho as no guarantee we would be going very far in it in the future.

Just look how long the mhanks lasted in the champions league before getting the europa consolation prize.

Issue with the winter break is that it is completely at the wrong time. The weather in December and January is never really that bad, I can’t think of a day during recent winter breaks where you couldn’t have got a game on. Mid to late Feb is always the worst, like now when we have the storm or 2018 when we had all the snow. If they insist on a winter break it should be in Feb, but in all honesty I think it should be scrapped to avoid the ridiculous fixture congestion. I’m sure that has more damage on players bodies, trying to play 5 games in 14 days, than just playing through would.

Not really down to the sfa though is it? SFA don't run our league.

Good post about a winter break. I think a break from 1st January to 1st March (2 months) might help, as long as our players don't go to Dubai to mess up the rest of the season! Changing the league set-up is a good idea too, maybe a Premiership of 16 or even 18 teams like it used to be in the old days of Division One. That would reduce league games from 38 to 34 or even 30.

summer football is long overdue in Scotland. It would improve our game and should bring about an increase in TV money as our league will have the only competitive games to screen.
