There are too many players not getting a chance. Why has this striker crisis arisen? We've depended on Morelos and Defoe all season The former gets suspended regularly and now Defoe is injured and recovery will be tougher at his age. Why haven't we a young player at the club who could have been brought in? Hardie was a good example (yes, my old mate Hardie).

Never given a chance. Herrera was on our books. We could have recalled him from loan to give us back up at least until the end of the season. Now Jones, Murphy and Barker all seem to be leaving and Middleton and Docherty's futures are uncertain. I love SG but when he latches on to favourites, that's it!

Agree5 Disagree0

31 Jan 2020 08:15:43
Herrera is mince wouldn't even have him on bench without Alfie or defoe.

31 Jan 2020 09:02:04
How are we supposed to compete with that mob and in Europe with the names you mentioned above? Just about every one of them are not even good enough as a squad player never mind starting 11 mate.

31 Jan 2020 09:03:02
Couidnt agree more. As much as I love SG he has to stop this and stop it now. Ulitise our squad. Said it for weeks. Now the injuries have started and if we if we are not careful we are going to struggle. The way he has treated some of your players are shocking. Most might disagree but that's the reality.

31 Jan 2020 09:03:21
Herrera can't be that bad playing in Mexico's premier league. He was never given a chance really. That's all some on here say about other players, that they are mince, rubbish, etc, etc. That's your opinion mate.

31 Jan 2020 09:15:09
Seriously? . Herrera was mince slower than a week in the jail. Middleton and barker are mince. Docherty not quite made the grade hence why these guys are not playin. Btw hardie was also nowhere near good enough hence the level he's playing at now same as everbodys fav cummings.

31 Jan 2020 09:22:22
Our squad isn't good enough to utilse. We have maybe 14 players that are reliable first team players, the rest just aren't good enough. Herrera hardie wow is that a joke doiger? 👍.

31 Jan 2020 09:38:05
Utilise the squad? I think u can see with how terribly weak out bench is. We cannot afford to ulitise. without tav and morelos were barley scrapping by. Add jack to that for next game or 2. Just glad morelos is back.

31 Jan 2020 09:38:45
Coldo if who are saying our squad isint good enough to ulitise then who's faults that?
I agree with Herrera but king, Docherty, Jones, Hastie (loaned), Barker. there's 5 who haven't had a chance.

31 Jan 2020 09:40:01
All the mince experts on here, you must work in a chain of butchers. Middleton, Barker, Hardie, Herrera, Docherty - none have been given a chance. How come Ojo gets a more regular game?

31 Jan 2020 09:49:45
The bench is weak currently due to the injury situation, most of the names above would nt make the squad if we had everyone available to play. We have a lot to get out the door between now and the summer, SG is getting the overall squad quality level up to push the guys in the 11 on to keep places. It’s been along time since we have had a squad this good or even spending money like we have been lately. I would have liked to keep Jones but he obv is nt liked behind scenes and is one of the few fringe guys worth some money so it frees up wages and cash for loans etc. So moving him on maybe best all round. Like us all I wanted it to work for Docherty and hope it still does, excited to see if he produces at Hibs if he goes. i hope he proves himself but if not then we can strike a deal with Hibs etc for perm move of Kamberi if he is successful.

31 Jan 2020 09:59:13
Gerrard has made some very questionable signings i must admit think everybody knew barker was hopeless b4 he signed. Middleton is gregg wylde mark 2. hardy plays for blackpool. docherty i like and is a grafter just unfortunate he's not as good as the rest of the midfielders that are infront of him. Mccrorie still to come back in whos also all round better player.

31 Jan 2020 10:55:09
Name me a manager who hasn’t made a questionable signing?

31 Jan 2020 11:04:30
Yes i know that pacman. Just sayin currently gerrard although we have drastically improved is probably 50/ 50 on his signings so far sucess/ duds.

31 Jan 2020 11:20:40
Doiger I think Ojo has a clause in his contract to get game time. I think he's got talent but he's very lazy. I think we miss dig in the MF and a box to box MF. This boy Hagi looks like he could be the answer but Kamra, for me needs to beef up. Too lightweight.

31 Jan 2020 11:36:15
Pacman more of gerrards signings have been questionable than a success. We have about 14 first team players, the rest are utter dross. When you bring ojo off the bench to try and win a game you know you're gubbed. It astounds me that doiger is still advocating that herrera and hardie should have got a chance. We are still playing catch up to celtic and the players we have now are on a different planet to the players you mention doiger. How could we compete with celtic with they players doiger🤔😱👍.

31 Jan 2020 11:47:44
Paul86 says Middleton is mince. The boy done great esp in some euro fixtures so shows how much Paul knows. All about opinions but his is obvs worth hee haw.

31 Jan 2020 11:49:07
A lot of people here are talking about Gerrard's 'questionable signings'. I think we have to remember the way football clubs operate nowadays, especially ones with our set up. It's not like it was under Walter Smith or even Advocate where the manager 'scouted' a lot of the players themselves (along with the actual club scouts of course) and pretty much had all the say in signings. We have a director of football position. What happens is Gerrard and his coaching team identify positions that need strengthening and pass that info on to the Director of football and the recruitment department. They then compile a list of targets they think we'll be able to get and that meet the managers requirements. Now i'm not saying Gerrard and his team won't of had any / a final say in the signings, all i'm suggesting is that the list of options given to him maybe weren't the best and therefore although 'agreeing' to some of these signings maybe he was never very happy with them in the first place but had to 'take what he could get' so to speak. Is it any coincidence that a number of these players we are now looking to ship out were brought in by Mark Allen who himself has been shipped out? Barker for one was definitely an Allen signing, he pushed for him and vouched for him (and he's been terrible) . I also believe Jones was very much an Allen signing too. Grezda was another signed under Allen's watch. We say that none of these players were ever really given a chance by Gerrard, well maybe he was never really convinced with them in the first place and after having seen them in training and the little time they have had on the pitch made his mind up that they weren't of the standard / attitude he was looking for. Maybe that is why we now have a new Director of football whom Gerrard does seem so far to have a decent relationship with.

31 Jan 2020 11:54:12
Ref ojo being lazy. yeah that might be the case but don’t expect Hagi to offer much more in work rate, quality overall might be a lot better but according to most scout reports etc he is not a track back and high work rate guy.

31 Jan 2020 11:59:57
Ojo must have a clause as there is no other reason as to why he would play, like worrall all over again🤦‍♂️👍.

31 Jan 2020 12:03:12
For players to get a chance they need to show the manager in training and in the games they play, ie the colt games and the like, we have heard the manager say after some games, most players never showed enough in these games.

And all managers have thier favourite players they can trust, but I don’t think any manager will pick mates over winning games and end up getting the sack.

It also sounds like fans have their favourites and get upset when they don’t play.

If they were good enough and showed the right attitude in training they would get played, unless the player in front on them makes less mistakes than the experts on here think.

31 Jan 2020 12:17:57
Last season SG got criticised for making too many changes for games now he’s not giving enough players a chance according to some posters. The team were on a great run before last week he had no reason to change team.

31 Jan 2020 12:21:09
Delma. U r right, every player gets a chance every day in training to impress.
Som just don’t deliver.

31 Jan 2020 12:52:30
Gers1978, nonsense the manager has the final say on signings. 👍.

31 Jan 2020 13:06:41
Coldo, gerrard had no say re candaeas leaving or Barker coming in. Not sure re others.

31 Jan 2020 13:14:49
Herrera didn't get a chance 😂😂tried but he was terrible let's be honest.

31 Jan 2020 13:30:38
Coldo please re-read my post, I said that the manager does have a final say but I am saying that maybe he wasn’t very happy with the options he was presented with and that players such as Jones really weren’t of the standard he was hoping for. And as for the set up I’ve described. that’s exactly the way Gerrard and Mark Allen themselves explained it in an interview last season.

31 Jan 2020 13:39:36
John, then our club is in a mess if the manager doesn't have the final say👍.

31 Jan 2020 13:54:52
Coldo, that was the cast re mark Allen. He thought he ran the place. I was told by. Senior Scottish player at rangers gerrard said to Robertson him or Allen.

31 Jan 2020 13:58:50
Gers1978, again that's nonsense. If the options presented to him are not of the level required he doesn't just take the best of a bad bunch. If that's the case he shouldn't be the manager of our club👍 I know what the set up is, no one is questioning that. Although if the players that are being generated through that set up continue to be somewhere near 1 in 4 of being a success then maybe we need to look at the set up👍.

31 Jan 2020 14:58:24
Exactly coldo, in fact gerrard just said in today’s interview he won’t take a player just for the sake of it.
He says they have a list for every position and if someone is not on the list he won’t sign them.
Also interesting to note he has tracked Hagi for 18 months, but says we could not afford him in summer when Genk bought him.

31 Jan 2020 14:58:56
Hey 1974, you just mentioned 5 players that not good enough Rangers 1st team and I include King in that.

31 Jan 2020 15:09:01
Why do you think Allen has been replaced with Ross Wilson Coldo? And it’s not nonsense. What I’m trying to say is there will be times where we need a position filled and with the options available and the budget available we may take on a low risk signing (ie Jones on a free or Barker for a few hundred thousand) and they may not work out, either because they are just not good enough or they can’t handle the pressure etc. All I am saying is that it’s not as simple as stating ‘Gerrard’s signings aren’t good enough! ’ as there are lots of factors and people involved in picking / signing players.

Some will be top priority signings (probably the ones we really want and are first picks and cost large chunks of the budget) others might be a bit of a gamble (probably lower cost and not expected to be first eleven players) . And let’s face it, out of the players we are trying to ship out or have shipped out, how many of them were either ‘first picks’ or cost us a lot of money (Jones free, Barker couple hundred thousand, King was a loan) in the first place? A number of them weren’t even signed when Gerrard was here (Docherty, Herrera, Murphy, Middleton)

31 Jan 2020 15:19:21
Remember how many duds the blessed Brendan signed. Just saying.

31 Jan 2020 15:29:49
Oh and as for people talking nonsense Coldo, let's look at your statement of 1 in 4 being a success shall we. Looking at the players that have come in under Gerrard, and you're free to disagree if you like.

Successes - McGregor, Barisic, Goldson, Katic, Edmondson, Helander, Kamara, Davis, Arfield, Aribo, Defoe, Kent (ok still to live up to price tag but hardly a failure) Stewart (never let us down when played)

Failures - Grezda, Flanagan, Barker, Jones, King (not a bad player, just never got a chance as luckily we didn't get any injuries)

Jury still out - Ojo (yes not been great but there is talent in there somewhere) Polster.

That's hardly a success rate of 1 in 4 is it? And out of those failures / undecided players only Grezda really cost us anything.

31 Jan 2020 15:46:56
Mcgregor and Arfield were signe before gerrard became manager.

31 Jan 2020 16:00:14
Yes John i know they were agreed prior to Gerrard stepping through the door, i'm merely pointing out the players that have come in and played under Gerrard overall since Gerrard arived. Plus he did state at the time that although their deals were discussed and in place before he officially agreed to become manager he was made aware they were due to come in and he agreed he was happy to have them in his squad.

31 Jan 2020 16:12:05
Take out helander and aribo 78, jury is still out. And the jury retired months ago on ojo. Verdict💩. And that list of failures is much bigger. Worrall, mcauley, stewart, hastie, ojo.

We shouldn't be taking a low risk signing if that signing is not of the level required. That is just nonsense 78👍 when we make a signing the homework should be done by the manager👍.

31 Jan 2020 16:41:17
John25 Gerrard himself said he asked cadaeas to stay and fight for his place but he chose to leave. I watched the interview mate.

31 Jan 2020 17:21:03
Yes every but Allen sold him.

31 Jan 2020 19:48:43
Cant really count edmundson as a success. Think he will be a cracking long term signing but he's played like 5 games all season.

31 Jan 2020 23:39:28
Arfield and mcgregor aren't gerrards signings.
