I said last week that we missed a trick with this friendly. I thought today was totally pointless as that mob where no better than a scottish 3rd division team and paying them a compliment.
The only benefit I can see is maintaining the player match fitness.

It certainly didn't improve the match sharpness as they could have all played in 3rd gear and walked that game.
What did SG learn from today game, that we can pump a rubbish team in third gear.
Imo none of the players where tested today

As I said last week a team from Portugal or team that play a similar style to Braga, imo would have been better at pushing the players and taking them outside their comfort zone. Every game from now on in is a cup final, with teams fighting for every point and that game today certainly never prepared any of the players for that fight. Rant over

Ps some good goals.

Stewart I may be wrong and no offence but i'm assuming you don't play. I've got good experience over the years in many sports. Trust me no matter what you do in the gym and on the 5 aside or practice games when it comes to playing any competitive games you will be blowing out your arse after 20 minutes on a full pitch against any team. Aerobic fitness drops off in any athlete very quickly even in the space of 2 weeks. We have to be ready for st mirren, today and Stranrar should have our 1st eleven almost back to normal.

Scoring six goals and dominating can only help keep the positive mental attitude in place for restart imagine the Braga like team beat us how does that help? I’d rather be coming back off back of a dominant display.

Agree with TJBB 100% - also my experience and living!

Remember Progres Niederkorn, never underestimate any team, today was a decent tempo performance from us, and extremely valuable to keep the boys ticking over for next Friday, just enjoy us humping any team;

Stewerty, you should send your cv into the board . you seem to have all the answers and solutions to help a team who is not floundering to not flounder 🤔.

Just my opinion guys. TJBB yeah I did play. Junior football for 6 years ruptured patella ended that. I'm 54 and still play. Can you re read my post mate. Match fitness and match sharpness are 2 completely things.

As I said playing against a poor team you don't learn anything and It doesn't prepare you for when you come up against a better standard of player. don't you agree that SG would have learnt more if we had been tested today.

This month is going to be fight on all fronts and I just feel that playing a better standard of team would have prepared us better for that fight.

Spot on stewartyyblue. Played the game myself as a midfielder and totally agree with what you say pal!
I actually gave up playing in my much coveted midfield position, due to a bad cruciate ligament injury.
Missed playing badly back in the days in my late 20's at the time, but sort of over it now. 🤔.

I played Amateur Football when the ball had laces in it, and was agony when you headed it on a cold wet afternoon, the players nowadays are pampered, but, good luck to them.

A right few good players on the site now and Stevie G must be shaking in his boots🤪😭🇬🇧.

The point of playing even though it was crap opposition keep us ticking over . last year the shutdown done us damage hopefully it won’t this year . hopefully we will keep momentum going.

Hi Stewart. When I disagree with somebody I try and do it with respect so no offence, all just opinions as you say.

A tough game was not what was needed, we’re about to play 17 games in the next 70 days, the boys just needed to tick over.

12 Jan 2020 14:26:20
'what did we learn'? The same as we do from all friendlies - NOTHING. And that's the point. It's about fitness and training, nothing else. What we probably learned as fans is the players the manager isn't interested in.

I played at a time when the mould master ball was all the rage. Lost count of the number of times I was nearly knocked out on a cold day. Will never forget the nappy smell bringing me back to life! How many of you remember the mark of the ball on your leg and how badly it stung?

I played up front and scored a good few goals with headers. My dad, who played centre half professionally at the highest level used to say to me 'Aye ye're no' bad'. Said everything really lol.
