Ed, on your earlier words on gps data and tracking players work rate etc your completely correct in that many players differ from many others in they’re genetic makeup, there are plenty of examples around although you arguing with the coldo fella is very worrying, you have really confused us up here, I thought he was the editor, only working more hours, anyway a classic example is Paddy Mcourt, much as I hate to say it the guy could embarrass beckenbaur and both Carlton’s together in a phone box, but no amount of training could help him run the length of the park, there are many others, none more so than the Romanian prosenicki I think but could be wrong, I can picture him passing Celtic off the park but scarecely moved 20 yards, because he couldn’t, a good example on the other side is Alan Hutton he can put in a hard tackle, a great cross and go down expertertly when he needs to, but spurs paid so much because of all that and his engine, he could naturally go box to box for 90 mins, a modern full back, and he used his assets well, , I’ve never heard a bluenose talking about Coops work rate

Tom.

{Ed001's Note - Prosenicki (Croatian by the way) smoked heavily, a bit like McCourt, which is why he had no fitness. You are right though, the game has changed, you only have to look at how Ozil is slagged off for not getting back and making slide tackles to break up every attack by Arsenal fans, yet they adore Bergkamp, who never tracked back.}

Who was arguing with the ed tom? If you read the thread you will see that we were discussing what gps tells us about players, no arguing at all. Genetic make up is obviously a factor but so is your lifestyle. Gps will tell you distance speed, when you peak and tire but it doesn't tell you that a player should have made a run in behind in a certain situation. As the ed said that information is used collectively to assess a players game. Which was my original point in the thread. I don't see where you get arguing from? Why would you make that up tom? 👍.

Coldo, think Tam is confusing work rate with your comment that Ojo is lazy.

Of course you meant he was hard working but just not very good - easy mistake to make but I’m sure he’ll be much better when all fans, teammates and coaching staff tell him how pish he is - worked with (just as well we didn’t sell him for £5m though) so why not Ojo?

26 Oct 2019 13:32:46
Dk, did you see how we played the other night without ojo? Why would you put him back in the team after that? He might get better, he has too but until that time comes then its the bench or preferably the stand for ojo.

As I have told you before tough love never did anyone any harm and yip it did work for morelos. Gerrard said after the old firm game at parkhead the he couldn't defend morelos anymore. That statement tells us that gerrard laid the law down to morelos

Who said sell morelos for 5mil? I think you'll find that I said an offer between 12-15mil with a 10% sell on would be a realistic offer. I also said during last season and the summer that there was certain areas that he had to improve on to become the 20mil player everyone wants. He has improved on the areas that I mentioned therefore I have stated that he could easily break the scottish transfer record.

Why do you keep going over the same ground time and time again. You are wrong mate, it doesn't matter how many times you post it. Morelos is a completely different player from last year, because he has changed his attitude. The difference is night and day, its there for all to see. And ojo just isn't good enough. 👍.

I would leave Aribo out for now too. When he was injured we were slaughtering teams 5 nil. He comes back against Hearts and we draw. He is left out of the Porto game and we put in the performance of the season. Coincidence? 🤔.

I do like aribo, but I have said for a months that he is too slow with his link up play C. We couldn't have played that fast one touch tempo like we did the other night if aribo and ojo were in the team. 👍.

Tough love has had its day, young players are usually inconsistent but professionals can see potential and hopefully coaching will improve the player (Morelos as one example) .

Even Sadiq looks to be transformed despite a poor time with us.

I have never said that Ojo should start any particular game.

The team picked should reflect the tactics employed against the opposition.

The team should be rotated to keep it fresh and fit and to ensure those underperforming are pressured to keep their place.

I think we have only 3 or 4 guaranteed starters for every game when fit.

Sometimes flash players full of flair just don't suit our game. A midfield full of grafters like Jack, Arfield and Davis is the way forward. If you don't have a bit of dig about you, you will be quickly found out. Like you I like big Aribo and I am really rooting for him to do well. I just feel we are much more dangerous without him.

26 Oct 2019 19:56:22
If our midfield are all grafters who is going to unlock stubborn defences?

Last year we had too many draws against teams who sat back so everyone shouted for a more creative midfield.

26 Oct 2019 21:50:18
All 3 are more than capable. We have been pumping teams left right and centre. How much more unlocking do we need lol.

26 Oct 2019 22:37:41
Coldo and I barely agree on anything and I still think Ojo has something there but he should now have to WORK his way back into the side he’s definitely talented has goals and assists in him but if he’s allowed not to work as Baker etc the other night he’ll never appreciate his Jersey! The other night was a Stunning performance from all the players especially out Rolls Royce of a LB 💙.

ED I stand corrected, and ashamed, as I spend 3 months a year in Split Croatia. And of course your correct, Zagreb I believe when Prosineci and viduka ran Celtic ragged one night, he scarcely left the centre circle, what a player, and although I love Hadjuk Split I enjoy creation football and it is a very good centre of excellence. Thanks for your input

Tom.
