Ross McCrorie?

Can we have a sensible debate. My opinion is he is not tall or wide enough to be a Rangers centre back. He is not technically gifted and his passing and vision from what I've seen up to now is not Rangers class. What he has is a 6 foot frame, he can tackle and head. He is very mobile with a good engine.

So where does he fit. I just wonder if SG and his team know he will not fit into a top class Rangers team in midfield or center back and think RB may be an option and the Portsmouth trial maybe a test to see if he can do it. Could he be the next Alan Hutton. Long way to go I know. Just because we love him doesn't make him a future star but fingers crossed.

I think he's vastly underrated as a holding midfield player. He's not a kamara who's going to hold the ball or a Davis who's going to thread killer passes but in the heat of battle when it comes to an old fashioned scrap he's a warrior.

Hes a midfielder for rangers so unsure why you are going on about centre back. Since gerrard been at the club he's always been a midfielder.

Holding mid is his best position. Has the heart of a lion and is a better player than given credit for.

My gut feel is holding midfielder when we’re in a battle, Old Firms, Aberdeen and Inverness / Ross County on a cold Tuesday night. He’s a battler who gives everything for the shirt.

I’m open minded to him playing right back, we’d need to manage our expectations though. He’d be a defender through and through, we’d be stronger at the back but weaker going forward. It’s all about Balance to the team.

I agree J-Zer, MCrorie, can't hold the ball or thread a killer pass which is why he isn't in the Rangers team. Its a bit of an antiquated term in modern game, most SPL teams have this type of warrior player and because of there lack of skill they end up with red/ yellow cards and never progress. A Rangers warrior IMO is anybody in the team who gives 120% with nothing left on the pitch, brave in the pass and respect for the the opposition which includes playing within the rules of acceptable challenges.

I would say he’s a DM but whether he can get into our midfield down the line is another question only time will tell, I like most of us want him to do well and get in the side but we felt the same for docherty and he can’t get near squad never mind the side. This is as strong a gers squad we have now as we ve had in a very long time.

speaking of old fashioned TJBB i believe every rangers player shd give 120% with nothing left every time they pull on the jersey

i agree with your ‘warrior’ point and I actually like the lad mcrorie and think he cld do a job for us but at as a big powerful agressive holding mid who breaks up play and attacks the ball in both boxes

but he has a job on his hands with davo jack kamara arfiejd aribo ahead of him centrally as our midfield was superb thurs night - so proud of our attitude work rate &
application - we kept the ball for long spells 2nd half against top drawer opposition better than I’ve seen for a long time.

Agree trev, our midfield was super, very proud of that performance. Our play was off the charts. 👍.

i am sad to say i don't think he will be in our starting 11 barring injuries etc. i too like him and wish better for him since he is one of us, however sentiments aside we have better and will have better. i don't believe he will get a new contract, hope i'm wrong but can't see it. just my opinion though.

Paul86. don't really know what your point is. i'm not going on and why are you limiting RMs playing history to just when SG started.

To add to my argument for Ross having a future, having him sitting in middle of the park it allows others around him to be braver in attack and therefore strenghtens our hand in that we have that option of using him against teams that would put us under pressure.
