So, we say we are the best, our fans are amazing and the rest are below us.

Unfortunately days like today point to the fact the our modern day fans are not living up to the traditions of the club - upstanding, respectful and supportive.

Times have changed and whether we thing these songs were once acceptable and relevant or not, they are not now and have not been relevant for many years.

Similarly, we have too many boo boys and naysayers pretending to be supporters but when we hit a bump in the road they are falling over each other to criticise a player, the manager or the board.

Let today be a watershed, we don't want you if you cannot get behind the club, players and managers and show support in good and bad times.

Too many people are sweating hard to put the club back to where it belongs and sniping from the sidelines does not help.

I don't care if you are experts on FIFA financial wizards who know better than our current board.

Keep you negativity to yourselves and help the club back to where it belongs

End of rant!

Well said Sir.

I used to sing these songs, as a kid, on the supporters bus with my dad. Have no idea when I stopped, I think in my teens when I started going by car. Skip forward to the Hibs game trying to explain to my son about the only time 2 kings of Scotland, ireland and England faced each other in battle 17th. century. Findlay (my youngest) "long way to go for a fight dad" after I'd stopped crying laughing I just agreed with him. So my cure for sectarian songs, try explaining them to a 7 year old simples.

Very well put DK19.I have came through all the good times and the bad times and have always given my club, the famous glasgow rangers, my undying love and support, through thick and thin for 40 odd years now. I absolutely adore our football club. Again mate a cracking post and very well put!

Dk if we didn't have the "boo boys" or the "naysayer" as you put it, I prefer to use the term realist. These people that you slate are the very ones who demand the high standards and traditions that you speak off and they let it be known when players fall below those standards. Surely you see the irony in your ill thought out rant👍

I fully agree with your thoughts on the songs. 👍.

Well said DK.

Not condoning the songs nor condemning them because if we are all going to be honest I’d put my mortgage that most of not everyone on here slating the singers has at some point been to a game most likely an euro tie or old firm and got caught up in the moment and sang the songs. Go behind or rough tackle whole stadium goes into a chorus of no surrender. Not saying it’s right and probably should stop but maybe don’t jump on the do good band wagon when chances are you’ve been guilty at some point yourself. Out of curiosity Iv not read as of yet. Does anyone know what songs they are giving the ban for.

Great rant DK, well said sir.

Chrisgf4 - spot on mate we all get caught up in the moment some of us have even married someone who would be appalled at the songs being sung.
However can we not even tweak the words to various songs
The Billy Boys which is great to get the whole stadium jumping is sung in various guises all over Scotland and no one questions it because 3 or 4 words are different WAKEN UP ITS 2019.

I've followed Rangers for nearly 60 years, and I fully endorse what DK has said, we must come into the 21st Century and stop this, why any so called fan would want to hurt our Club I don't know. but it has to stop.

👍yes DK19.

Some very good posts in this lot. This reflects very badly on our club but how do we change it for the better
All it takes is some nutter with not a whole lot of brains to shout Hello Hello at the old firm game and off you go
I was at ibrox at new year game and it was a fantastic day but there was plenty of singing that was offensive
Why can’t we sing Penny arcade and other fantastic songs
Forgot the songs that mentions anything to do with paramilitary or religious wars
FFS let’s move on
If these songs start we should boo them down
I am happy for you to have your thoughts and beliefs
But ibrox is not the place.
My mate has his kid at Celtic park on Thursday for the European game would I go to his house this weekend and call him a FB no would I shout at him No I would not so don’t bring it to ibrox
If you feel the need to shout this P15H
Get the train out to the middle of nowhere and find a field and shout your head off but not at Ibrox as it’s offensive to all of us.

The club and its history and traditions sets the standards. The reason we have such a huge support is because of those standards and traditions.

You do not make people or players better by slagging them off (read any coaching or management book you can find), you do it by training, encouraging and supporting them.

We are where we are, there is no Laudrup, Gazza, Butcher or even a Ronaldo in the list of possible signings so we must make do with who we play at any given time. Booing a player from the sidelines will not make them better but encouraging and supporting him just might.

Of course we will always have players who just ain’t good enough but I guarantee that the manager and coaching staff will support them until the time comes for them to move on.

Now I’ve asked you before, your opinions and thought differ from our managers, explain why you know better.

Would be dead easy to change words btw. Maybe the club should hire a songwriter to tweak some of the more famous ones. Like how hard would it be to change "fenian blood” to "Celtic’s tears” or something like that?
