If everyone's fit what's your starting 11?
After today's game I'm really struggling to pick, especially in the midfield area?

In my opinion, their won't be a regular starting 11, Gerrard will have options to work with throughout the season, rotating for European nights, cup games midweek etc.
If you're asking me who I think our strongest 11 are from what I've seen, it would be as follows.

Guys, Aribo is the missing piece, as far as I can see. We haven't had a player like that for years. He is head and shoulders above anything out there at the moment. I am sure the manager recognises this too. Believe me, he is a superstar in the making.

I agree with you Pdot. From what i've already seen, joe aribo looks terrific and like you say, the missing piece of the jigsaw. He most definitely looks like he's going to be some player for us. He is box to box at times, can play those little deft,
intricate passes, that can help us open up the most tightest of defences, he can link the play. No wonder bowyer was going ballistic about the thought of losing him for the especially low, bargain price of 300k cross border fee. What a bargain already he's looking.

Having 3 solid centre halfs will allow us, on occasion to play a more attacking line up.

Defoe will not start more than 40% of our games - he will be used as an impact player when we are struggling to break teams down.
Unless we get a huge offer (I don’t expect it) Morelos will not be sold and will remain as our main striker this season.

I agree on Defoe, some here getting carried away with 36 year old. If Morelos not sold he is the starter all day long.
Aribo looks like a fricken bargain! Davis is back to his very very best. Ojo is a cut above and Jack is starting to show he could be the midfield marshall.
It’s all very very early but it also a tremendous start to the pre season. Our passing, movement and work off the ball is impressive. Our pressing is superb but more importantly our fitness has stepped up a game.
I’m not sure we were that good or Marseille were that bad today.

GDog10,I agree with you to an extent mate, but IF morelos remains with us, he won't be starting every game.
We now have the luxury of having a quality squad and there's a lot of games, so certain games will be more suited and earmarked for certain players. I like both defoe and morelos, but tend to agree with coldo that we play better football and are more potent with defoe in the starting 11.Last season pointed that out to us all. I actually think we need another striker to replace lafferty as well as having defoe and morelos. Morelos likes to run the channels more than defoe, but we now have brought in more players who can do this. that's why IMO, defoe will start a good number of games for us this season.

A wee mention for steven davis yesterday. Again he was instrumental in all good things we did. This wee gem of a midfielder, is going to be a helluva important player for us this season, irrespective of him being 34 years old now! He'll pull the strings for us and set the tempo. Still very fit and IMO has easily another couple of years left in him, up here in scotland. Since davo got matchfit from the latter of last season, now continuing on to this season, he's been superb for us. I'm delighted for him, as he was one of my favourite players, first time around at rangers. He's a superb midfielder.
