Just read the statement from Tav and for me it's shows him to be in the wrong all that rubbish about walking out with his son he doesn't pick the team. He was meant to have injection because he is injured but said he would wait till Thursday for it so he could play. He is injured so in no way should he have started yes bring him on last 10/15 mins but no way should he have started then he admits he throws toys out the pram because he didn't get what he wants.
I ain't Rohl biggest fan I want rid but Rohl done everything correct for Rangers football club it's not Tav FC
14 May 2026 19:45:52
The bit that's upset him is he was told he would be starting and had assurances that he'd get to walk the team out and that decision was changed.
I'd be pissed too.
If he'd been given those assurances and was able to play some minutes, he could have got the first 45.
14 May 2026 19:48:10
Storm, it's just a sad end to a sad season, mate. Rohl has handled it shockingly and Tav has reacted in the wrong manner.
We move on.
14 May 2026 20:02:16
Usually we're cut from the same cloth, Storm (both ages grumpy guys ?), I disagree with you on this one mate. I don't believe Walter Smith would have dealt with this in the same way. He should have had the opportunity to lead the team out with his kids. Just my opinion.
14 May 2026 20:12:58
I am still with you on this and what MPH said before.
It sounds like Danny Rohl could have communicated it better. But it's not like he intended in stopping his farewell, he was going to put him on at some point.
It's hard to say you're all in on dr after the last few weeks, for anyone, but if he could clear out this leadership group he would be worth keeping for that alone.
I have been totally wrong on the mentality argument and now understand it needs to change. Along with a number of other things.
Big summer and big decisions ahead, over to you Mr Cavanagh.
14 May 2026 20:13:38
These types of things should be kept in house. That's what used to set us apart from the rest, sadly the days are gone.
14 May 2026 20:14:13
I agree, Dado, but then again, for me, no previous Rangers manager comes close to the late, great Walter Smith, who would have handled a situation like that superbly. ? ?? Walter was cut from a different cloth. ? God rest "the gaffer". ?
14 May 2026 20:22:44
This is all word-play and semantics. Neither comes out very well from it. The manager knows the impact of his decision making, and the player knows the impact of his decision making. It should have been kept in-house, and there is where this mess falls squarely on the players' head.
None of this should be public. It makes the club look fractured and disjointed. Not impressed on either count.
14 May 2026 20:23:28
Not compared both statements that closely, but it seems as if both agree broadly on what happened re injury, injections and sub/start.
I don't understand why Tav couldn't have led the team out, even if he wasn't starting, other than he wasn't happy with the decision. The laws don't say it has to be the starting captain who does that.
If he was promised to start, then his injury (causing him to come off vs Celtic?) and his performance during that would/could mean he was not going to start.
But if, as he says, no one is bigger than the club, surely he means him as well. He will get a testimonial, and it is before, during and after that when he will get the chance to say his goodbyes to, hopefully, a full house.
Also not sure why they weren't just talking, as he keeps going on about correspondence with the manager. So that might be the area it could have improved.
14 May 2026 20:28:40
Nobody ever will SWS, what a man. Now that's a legend.
14 May 2026 20:39:12
Good to see you back, Angus. Tav can't demand to start any game and Rohl can't just roll over to that. Tis a sad end.
14 May 2026 20:48:30
I am glad you are back, Angus, even though you have me pulling out the little hair I have left. ?
No one will ever know the truth if Tav was giving the promise to start that I will give people.
But it won't change my mind that he had no right to start if he was going to play with an injury.
I want Rohl gone but won't use this against him.
14 May 2026 20:58:16
Don't think anyone comes out that well. Dado Sir Walter probably would have been different, but could u imagine Walter accepting Tav telling him he's not sitting on the bench, or any of the rest of his poor attitude. He wouldn't have lasted 2 minutes.
14 May 2026 20:58:53
Storm, whereas despite you I still have a full head of hair. On holiday next week, so thought I would come on and wind you up. ?
I want us to give a manager, any manager, longer than 9 months.
Not bothered who that is, but thought, with time, a few of the last managers might have got there. Until we give one the chance, we may never know how they finish up.
14 May 2026 21:10:25
That's just too sensible, Angus, won't catch on. ?
14 May 2026 21:15:58
Kaiser, not a chance, mate, but again that was due to mutual respect and an understanding that there's one Alpha at Ibrox.
Full transparency, I've no idea what Walter Smith would have done, but I truly believe it would have been handled better, and I believe Tav would have led the team out.
14 May 2026 21:33:48
Angus, I wanted to give Rohl a chance too, but he's lost the dressing room, mate. Beginning of the end.
14 May 2026 21:36:00
I know Fork but you know me: keep flogging that dead horse.
I did hear, though, that if Rohl does go, they are going to offer it to Tavernier. ?
14 May 2026 21:37:48
Walter Smith would have handled it differently?
The same late great Smith who stripped Ferguson, one of our greatest players in recent years, of the captaincy, after him and McGregor were caught acting like a*******s on the bench with Scotland.
So I'm pretty sure if Smith thought Tav was getting above his station, he would have dealt with him as well.
Rangers should always come first.
14 May 2026 21:52:18
Tav would have gone years ago under Walter. No way he would have captained for 7 years either. Rangers first always. What a great great man. ?❤️??
14 May 2026 21:55:33
Lads, 5 cup finals and we've lost 4 already. I'm sick of changing managers, we need to stick with Rohl or change with a plan of giving a new manager 3 years without fail. Personally, those managers need to be one of 2: the Motherwell gaffer or McInnes. Am I mad?
14 May 2026 21:57:45
Correct, mph, I can believe some people would use Walter like that and using his name over something like this.
Angus, enjoy yer holiday, mate, and come back on when you get back.
I have said it already but will say it again, if Rohl is manager next season he gets my full backing.
14 May 2026 22:17:44
Wishy, if he has lost the dressing room, then I am sure there is someone who can show him back to it. I wouldn't read too much into players liking what another has on Insta or other social media. From what I know most don't even do that themselves.
Just tells the lie to previous stories about how Tav was so disliked in dressing room, or, more likely, players doing what they think would be expected.
I don't think Rohl put his statement out on sm either, so they can't like that.
Cheers, Storm, and good to get back to 'crossing swords' again. Trying to take it less seriously now.
14 May 2026 22:42:39
Crossing Swords. ???
14 May 2026 23:39:53
Fork, I expect worse than that for you. Angus, how do you know I have a sword. ?
That's naughty talk. It's best way also, Angus.
My last post was meant to have said Can't not can.
15 May 2026 06:20:46
Let me be clear here Storm, I would never use the late great Walter Smith's name about anything bad or personal. All superb from me, and I knew him more personally and I'll tell you why. ? My cousin, his ex wife now and their twin daughters stayed very close to Walter and Ethel in Helensburgh and were friendly with them, and I personally met them myself when I was down seeing my cousin many years ago now.
? My cousin was also friendly with Brian Laudrup and his wife who also stayed near them. ? I also knew one of Walter's sons, Steven. ? So when I speak about Walter it's not to use his name for anything bad whatsoever, mate, as I always speak so highly of Walter and his family and absolutely wouldn't have it any other way.
15 May 2026 08:36:34
Assuming he's lost the dressing room, it's just as well about 50% of them will be leaving. The players aren't exactly in the good books in the eyes of fans either, and we know most of them aren't good enough.
15 May 2026 11:08:09
Tav should have got to lead the team out one last time at Ibrox. There is more to come out of this situation. Other players aren't happy with this and Danny Rohl as a whole. They are backing Tav up. More will come out in the next few days ?
