Here we go, from now until the takeover we are going to hear lots of foreign managers being touted for the job. Guys who probably have never set foot in Scotland, have no idea of the conditions or the way football is played up here are any of them going to be better than the failed double title winner.
I really have no idea who could be our new manager but we definitely need someone who understands the game up here and the physical requirements to win at these away grounds.

BT this is my biggest concern regarding the appointment of a new manager. I know I have said it plenty times but we can't afford to appoint another manager who has no idea about our game. We saw it with PC, Beale, GVB, SG etc. They all played a style of football and signed a lot of players not suited to our game. 1 league title, 1 SC and 1 LC in all of those years is not good enough. How many times under those I mentioned have we saw a variation of 433 that was boring, slow side to side football and where the opposition worked us out quickly. Far too often. That's why we have saw Celtic win treble after treble.
We need a manager who knows our game
and the type of players required. A manager who can adapt tactics and build a squad with different types of players able to adapt to different set ups and tactics. Example, have Target Men if we need to go route one or overload the box. Have players who can get down the line and Cross. Players willing to roll their sleeves up. Right now our squad is too one dimensional with players not suited to our game.
I have my doubts about Koppen's ability to identify these players and I think he should be relieved of his duties.

What formation does Rodgers play with the team sitting at the top of the league coldo?
All managers always have a favoured formation, Rangers will bring in a manager used to playing the way our club wants to set up in every department of our formations right through to boys club.

Dgers, my sentiments exactly. That's why I think SG will be top of any list of managers. So one that previously came in when we were a mess, built a decent team and won the league.
Also agree with NK, he needs to up his game big time. Feel free to explore potential prospects but we need 1st team ready players ready to drive this team forward. Not the likes of Propper, Bajrami etc.
Senior players need to be an upgrade on what we currently have.

Gio didn't get any players he wanted. He was treated badly by the club and some fans.

EB you are right Gio did play in Scotland, that's why its surprising that he did not know our game as well as he should have. That's why he failed.
Barcelona play a variation of 433 as do lots of teams including Celtic. Their variation of 433 is not slow boring side to side football with players who can't play that 433 system. I guess that's why they are successful and we are not.
I'm glad set formation has been replaced with favoured formation, I explained the difference yesterday and why. That's obviously stuck.
If we bring in a manager who has a rigid set up and won't adapt then we will continue to fail just like SG Gio Beale and PC. I would like to think that as a club we have learned and will not repeat the same mistakes.

Can we please give it a rest with the "must understand our game up here" biggest load of BS I have ever heard.
Ange came to Celtic from Japan with no knowledge of "our game" and dominated. Most top teams in most leagues play teams who sit with 10 men behind the ball (it's not just our league) only difference is almost every team plays like that against us.
We just need a manager with a particular style he plays but must be able to actually have a plan B that isn't just do plan A better.

Southend you could argue that all of those managers did not get the players that they wanted. A managers job is to find a system to suit the players we have. All of those names I mentioned tried to play a system not suited to our players and our game and ultimately that's why we failed. A top manager would adapt. Look at Amorin at Man Utd. His ignorance and stubborness will be his downfall. He does not have the players to play his system but he does it anyway. That is a sign of an incompetent manager.

BBJ Celtic kept their usual backroom team who knew our game inside out. This helped Ange adapt and learn. We have continually replaced our backroom team with the managers own staff, mostly with little knowledge of our game. So please explain why having knowledge of our game is BS.

I agree they do need to know our league. Look at the last 2 winning teams in EPL who had Klopp and Guardiola as their managers.
they obviously knew the league really well which is why they were able to be so successful.
oh hang what is that you are saying: they didn't have any experience of the EPL. well they must have kept on the backroom staff from previous eras to give that experience;
what they didn't do that either
well they mustn't have played 4-3-3 or a variation of that,

oh and with Barcelon Xavi was there 4 years and won 2 trophies so if he didn't know the demands of La Liga then who did. and to have John Kennedy and Gavin Strachan as the reason why Celtic were successful is just plainly laughable. not criticising the 2 gents but if they were that good how do Cletic always employ someone above them.
oh and knowledge of the league up here: BF and his 3 mates, GVB, Alex are amongst those who would know the league.

Oh wow he had the backroom staff who told Ange exactly how he should set his team up. He wouldn't of listened to any of them as he never once changed his style even to their detriment in CL and even now at Spurs. He have people who know our league right now and look how bad our results have been since they took over. So yes BS as many don't have knowledge and come here and do fine.
