Ehl, I just read further down u thought the referee was excellent on Thursday.
Is that correct?
19 Apr 2025 21:55:03
Sorry Stevie, I know you're a good fan and a regular poster - but after a few of your comments last week I've opted to stop interacting with you - noticed you've mentioned me a couple times, so wanted to let you know.
19 apr 2025 22:37:57
opted out ehl, hope your doing well bro
stevies all right, bit excitable but aren't we all
hope you can let it pass mate.
19 Apr 2025 23:00:08
Ahh we'll. you're prerogative mate.
Comments I made were fair, however I'll apologise if I've hurt your ego. People can disagree with u mate, you're probably the best poster on the site so I wouldn't purposely offend u but what point I put across last week whatever it was. Can't even remember but it was fair at the time. Just cause your highly valued mate doesn't mean u can't be disagreed with.
The ref was honking were denied 2 pens and a red card. Absolutely robbed blind.
Anyway. Life goes on.
19 Apr 2025 23:07:50
Have to say i'm suprised on this thread. I Like both posters and would hope we can just move on without falling out. I've learned over the 10 years or so I've been on here to just move on and not post if I don't agree, lots of folks make the world go round and my ego is deflating as the years go by, not that i'm accusing anyone of having an ego its jsut me.
19 Apr 2025 23:12:50
Stevie it wasn't a red card tho dessers was not denied a goalscoring opportunity. It was a pen but only a booking.
19 Apr 2025 23:31:44
Oh dear! There's some amount of thin skin on this forum. Seriously, some of the grown men on here need to stop taking themselves so seriously and stop acting like wee lassies. Throwing hissy fits because someone questions you is not a good look.
19 Apr 2025 23:33:20
Cheers Tom appreciate the words mate ??
No offence was meant to u Ehl. Genuinely wasn't.
19 Apr 2025 23:47:33
Storm, it wasn't an attempt to play the ball with the last man. That makes it a red card.
19 Apr 2025 23:55:35
Storm I think the ruling is if the player doesn't make a genuine attempt for the ball then it's a red card, which the player didn't, it's was a blatant pull back, I'm not trying to cause an argument here I just thought that's what the ruling was/ is.
20 Apr 2025 00:12:35
Correct RR.
20 Apr 2025 00:19:27
Yes if outside the box. If the referee deemed there was foul play then a penalty kick would be awarded and a yellow card.
Double jeopardy rules dictate this.
20 apr 2025 00:36:12
as i said earlier
had he given the pen, he would have pulled out the red card., without a doubt imo.
20 Apr 2025 00:47:41
Last man. I'd argue it was a goal scoring opportunity aswel. But that's arguable so simply the last man, and as the lads have pointed out with the rules they know as well
End of day we didn't get it but I'll never change my opinion that the ref as payed off or something offered to him In the Future. He blatantly
Cheated. What about var did they not have the tellys switched in. That was a blatant cheat. We were robbed.
20 Apr 2025 08:33:50
Royal, why was the Madrid player only booked against Arsenal the other night also? It's only a red card if they have a chance to score or opportunity to get a shot off which dessers never had.
Stevie you can argue all you like but it wasn't he wasn't getting to the ball so last man irrelevant and it's not a goalscoring opportunity if he ain't getting to the ball either.
We never got the pen anyway but it wouldn't have been a red card anyway if given.
Lastly the other lads that pointed it out like yourself are wrong as well ?.
20 Apr 2025 08:15:11
There is no last man rule it is denying a goalscoring opportunity. However it doesn't count as it was in the box. so yellow if an attempt is made to play ball, red if there wasnt. so if it was a penalty then red card as well by my interpretation.
however ignore the shirt falling apart and say again whether you think that the force of the pull and the duration of it was still sufficient for a penalty.
I did hear though that the referee was on 1 week in Lisbon if he denied us a penalty and 2 weeks if he gave them one as well ?. VAR didn't think the ref made a clear and obvious error.
always makes em laugh this "always cheated, never defeated' you might not like it but does that sound familiar.
20 Apr 2025 08:17:41
No worries Stevie - have no issue with disagreements / debates, think the forum is a better place for them.
Personally I have a line in what I think acceptable, and rather than clutter threads with non-football related responses I find it best to skip by certain members posts.
20 Apr 2025 08:24:26
It was very borderline for me. At the time, in the stadium, I was screaming for a penalty and a red card.
20 Apr 2025 09:05:59
It was a red card, he was the last man and Dessers had a chance.
20 Apr 2025 08:34:30
Going that's only if he has the ball he never and wasn't getting to it how do people not know the rules?
20 Apr 2025 09:58:06
Double jeopardy only applies if the defender tries to play the ball. That wasn't double jeopardy it just wasn't an obvious goal scoring opportunity. Maybe the referee should have seen it but he didn't so VAR should have brought it back.
20 Apr 2025 10:41:47
Nothing to do with last man he wasn't in control of the ball or getting to the ball Angus that is why it's a yellow and not a red if given.
20 Apr 2025 10:44:37
How would anybody know if he's getting to the ball. or not as he is tugged back? Pen and red card all day.
20 Apr 2025 10:54:10
Its a pen and a red, go and read the rules. There was no attempt to play the ball. Its 50/ 50 between the Gk and Dessers.
