Think some missed the point i'm not saying Barry For manager.

EHL point being he came into a s t show did he not players you said yourself had basically got their previous manager sacked and had stopped playing to instructions on the pitch disharmony within the squad etc.
you've said as much yourself the squad hasn't given their all there's an element of players who basically downed tools and we don't have the best of squads as in 2 quality players per position to replace them with then it was a ? show he walked into
Plus the fact many keep saying his inexperience is showing so he also has Basically L plates on so he should be judged on all of the above.
the league winning experienced Belgian manager couldn't do it Either.

Think fingers of blame lie elsewhere in the recruitment of players and managers that's the real reason we find ourselves where we are in the league.
horses for courses and all that jazz we need players who can play to a high standard in our league not just Europe and we need contentment and players willing to fight for the jersey.

Agree4 Disagree0

I do get it Stig, I just don't agree with it.

The same group of players who were turning up for Old Firm and European games and going missing in league games under PC, are doing the exact same thing under BF.

The players that most were growing frustrated with PC for selecting, are still being selected under BF.

So for me, nothing has changed other than we have a manager with less tactical knowledge how.

As for the blame being with the recruitment - I think that's caused by a misalignment of expectations from fans vs what the recruitment team have been tasked with.

NK has been tasked with creating a player trading model from scratch. If you look at his track record he's been successful at it, but behind the headline deals there are just as many that fail.

Considering over the last few weeks we've been debating if two of his signings will go for £30m or £40m I'd say that's an outstanding start!

Yeah, the young left back we signed for £600k has been inconsistent and may not be the answer and yeah the young CB we signed for free and had never played a first team game before had a mare against Killie.

These are the risks you take with that strategy.

If you think the strategy is wrong, then the issue lies above NK.

It's a false debate discussing any of our players going for £30 or £40m within the next 3 seasons.

14 Apr 2025 19:55:18
EHL is spot on here! Its not an instant fix, these things will take time.

14 Apr 2025 19:56:24
Correct ehl we were still doing well in Europe with PC we beat them at ibrox with PC and struggled against the lesser teams like we are still doing now.

The stig you have championed Barry for the job on here numerous times mate.

14 Apr 2025 20:04:41
Correct EHL and Strøm. We need to trust that the implementation of the process bears fruit.

14 Apr 2025 20:26:00
Ehl, this is something I touched on earlier.

What is KP's remit?

Find players that can compete and can form into a championship winning team and then sell on for big bucks - like Celtic do.

Or find players that can be flipped for a big profit whilst maintaining 2nd - this is what it looks like. The same model as most teams in Europe operate as they don't expect to win the league.

However our fans won't accept that model, it needs to be the former.

We need to build a solid, title contenting league team and run the player trading model in parallel. Sending these prospects out on loan (most of them) and when we see they can replace or at least compete with what we have then we bring them in and then trade what we have.

This hasn't been the case. We have replaced Goldson, Barasic, Helander, Jack, Lundstrum, Aribo, Kent, Cantwell, Bassey, Morelos with inferior players. Yes cheaper but inferior in every single position.

EHL always a pleasure debating with you ?

I have storm I like Barry for who he is wears his heart on his sleeve what you see is what you get.

I don't think he would be any different to Steven Gerrard if he got 3 years in the job and given time and as many players as Steven gerrard got to throw at it

I know it's not going to happen Storm and probably if I go with the head it's the right reasons he won't get it so I do understand where you and many come from
But for me if Barry got 3 years just like Gerrard I think he would get a title winning side I think when we get rid of that bad element within the squad I'm hoping we see some big differences in displays against the weaker teams but maintaining the runs we go in Europe as their badly needed financially first and foremost for the club to continue to operate hopefully when takeover is done and dusted we will build a good squad after we move on the ones we want to go

I will throw in though I'm not a big fan of The manager been banded about Russel Martin I hope it's not him doesn't convince me at al.

Also throw in I'm still maintaining it will be a big summer I reckon we will manage to move a lot on meaning recruitment has a job on its hands not only to move them all on but to bring in players to replace them with

I'm looking forward to the summer to see what unfolds.

Zikos, I think it's important to call out that NK and PC came in to deliver a specific plan - to gradually integrate a player trading model into the already established squad.

That plan was ripped up due to financial issues, and those financial issues have had a ripple effect throughout all areas of the club.

The majority of our energy in the transfer market has been used to move players on as we continue to unpick the mess of previous recruitment and I suspect that will continue for the next 2 windows.

One thing worth noting is that under the new model, singings like Bajrami and Proper who haven't worked out won't cause anywhere near the same issues as the likes of Matondo and co, as the deals and salaries are structured in a way that makes moving them on far simpler.

14 Apr 2025 21:22:59
Likewise Stig - it'd be boring if we all agreed! Although that might also mean we were winning again, so maybe we're due some boredom!

14 Apr 2025 21:29:47
PC for me was a more tactically experienced manager than Barry and was let down badly by the players, as in Barry currently. It was a change not for the better, but to appease the fans.

14 Apr 2025 21:44:33
Barry wouldn't get close to title in 10 years nevermind 3 mate. Just because he is staunch ? it was to appease fans. It didn't appease the fans maybe some just not all and never would.

14 Apr 2025 22:56:51
It was always going to be a tough ask for barry when playera know he's only short term appointment.

14 Apr 2025 23:49:29
The change was made because of results, nothing to do with fan appeasement.
Ve.

Regarding the trading model. What really needs to happen imo is build a experienced spine in the team. That mob have consistently had a excellent forward kyogo/ maeda, excellent centre mid, mcgregor, solid CH, CCV and a excellent keeper. All more or less consistently fit. Plus 4 decent quality wingers. This allows them to slot projects into the team around their core.
We don't have a core spine in our team priority for the window. Should be a experience CH with a good injury record, a experienced no 6, a small nippy forward that most scottish defenders hate playing against and a decent keeper and as it stands 3 wingers. That's 7 players. Keep diom, raskin, jefte, iga, cort and maybe Ridvan as definitely stayers the rest can be sold and replaced on player by player basis.

15 Apr 2025 00:23:00
EHL, I totally get it and for that reason NO is probably doing ok. But I would say, he could be doing better. Although lower salaries, the players you quoted have been costly and we'll most definitely make a loss on them.

He could have recruited players of similar technical ability or even better for less.

15 Apr 2025 07:07:44
Yeah Zikos, don't think many at the club are operating above 'okay' at the moment.

Hopefully we have a few who are capable of delivering more as things improve.

15 Apr 2025 08:02:51
If we look at the salary structure now, it's so much more manageable down to the players Koppen and PC have brought in and fees for future outgoings are just as comparable to the high salaried players we had previously. Great point Storm/ EHL that the players people moaning about are young future projects that cost very little and on low salaries. He didn't bring in Danilo, Lawrence, Matondo etc. Proper may not suit Scottish football but a reasonably small outlay and salary for the Twente captain was a sensible buy, just didn't work out so far.

15 Apr 2025 08:17:13
Barry would win us the league within two seasons.
