So regarding, PC on igamane and nsala,
He stated when they arrived, we wouldn't be able to afford them in a year or two so we got them early and had to nurture them. I think he's been proved right on both counts and maybe big Phil and Koppen deserve a bit of praise. I believe Cortes and Dio will be the same and a few more coming in.

Agree11 Disagree0

This is correct Bazbear, but what folk will also have to accept is that with this model of signing players when they are young and raw but showing potential, is that not all will turn out to be superstars (or really any good at all) . And when that does happen I hope our ever so tolerant fan base don't start calling for Koppen's head and putting up banners about how terrible a job he's doing. It's definitely the correct player model to go down, especially when playing in a country like Scotland and being able to afford any decent 'finished article' players. But it will also be the case that for every gem we unearth there may be as many that turn out duds.

16 Jan 2025 15:01:25
Totally agree Baz.

16 Jan 2025 15:12:57
Can only see Koppen having great success at Rangers, man knows a player that's for sure.

16 jan 2025 15:17:05
igamanes contract needs revised now, we need to ensure he's happy and protect our investment,

16 Jan 2025 15:17:45
Bazbear, couple of bits of news to give you some insight on to where Koppen is looking to take us.

We have signed agreements with two African based agencies and one Balkan based agency with a view to bringing players over primarily for the B team - ages 17-20.

We're also close to joining a partnership of sorts with a London based club that would see us receiving a higher calibre of player through one of the African agencies with a potential pathway to the EPL.

Unfortunately we have been unable to get a similar deal agreed with the targeted Scandinavian agencies, as they don't see Scotland as a viable pathway for their young talent.

This is a very common model in Holland and something that will take time, but should be a massive step in the right direction.

16 Jan 2025 15:21:33
He's on a 5 year contract TT, the investment is protected.

16 Jan 2025 15:29:32
I'd be making sure Koppen is tied down, his contract is the most important just now.

16 Jan 2025 15:36:24
Much better to bring in players on low wages and then increase them if they're doing well. Certainly beats paying players like Matondo 28k a week.

16 Jan 2025 16:13:25
It seems the young players with potential are the successful ones. It's the more expensive experienced players we seem to have problems with.

16 Jan 2025 16:15:41
It's good to be able to talk about some positive signings and both very young which is a bonus, hard enough to find one youngster that you know will make a fortune and we now have 2. Fingers crossed that Koppen is also a good salesman.

16 Jan 2025 16:18:06
We can probably do that at the end of the season regarding revising igamane's contract TT12? Remember he signed a 5 year deal when he signed for us, so still would have 4 years to run after this season ?.

16 Jan 2025 16:26:09
The way he took his goal last night was just pure class. many times we see some of our players ballooning them over the bar - not this lad. Every game is a cup final now until the end of the season maybe apart from the United game as that may be a bridge too far. but you never know. eyes will be on this lad at Old Trafford and he will respond in kind on that stage.

16 Jan 2025 16:26:31
Diomande (hot and cold)
Cortez❓
Silva ❌
Barron✅
Jefte✅
Nsiala✅
Igamane ⭐️ ?
Propper ❌
Kasanwirjo ✅ (great before injury)
Cerny✅
Bajrami (hot and cold)
Probably missed someone

Think overall recruitment has been really good. And he looks to be going in the right direction with players to get rid off.
So I'll say well done Koppen because he's quick enough to get downed if signings aren't doing well.

16 Jan 2025 16:43:46
Koppen is proven at a higher level than Scotland and to be fair so is Clement. So glad he's been backed and hoping he gets a good run of results to take the pressure of him and the team, I know the team has lost some games they possibly shouldn't have but Aberdeen were in form when they beat us and we were struggling, both Dundee teams got draws against Celtic too so maybe some of them weren't quite so bad.

16 Jan 2025 16:57:35
Gers a bit like our UK lads though there will be some market for them even at a lower level. So you are right not all will be worth 8 figure fees but we don't need all to be forth trading model to work and if we get our money back for the others who aren't superstars then that is a bonus.

16 Jan 2025 17:20:40
EHL is the London club brentford or chelsea, do you know mate ?.

16 Jan 2025 17:22:48
Agree with a lot of the commments. Only thing I would add is all going well (if we were being run better in recent years) we would t be giving so many minutes to the likes of Jefte, Barron, Dio and Igamane so early in their Rangers careers. However due to the senior squad being injury prone and lacking in quality, a lot of expectation has been forced on these young lads, which they are coping reasonably well with, and bodes well for the future.

Ideally though we would only be giving minutes to maybe 2-3 prospect at a time if we want to seriously challenge. Hopefully that's somewhere we can get to in a couple of windows.

16 Jan 2025 17:22:56
He never said that about the young CH but he did say that about igamane that we wouldn't be able to afford him in a year or two.

Come the summer igamane will still have 4 years left so no we don't need to give a new contract that's the whole point of giving him 5 years in the 1st place we done stuff like that with Alfredo look what happened there. Thank god some of you ain't in charge.

16 Jan 2025 17:25:53
They pumped St Mirren and Motherwell though baz. we didn't so maybe we are still as bad.

Deecee the best finish last night was dessers.

16 Jan 2025 18:05:30
Great to see us debating whether or not to give a player a rise. certainly makes a change from us complaining about players on too much money.

16 Jan 2025 18:46:39
Mark that happens when he hits a bad patch. I know we all have an opinion but Koppen seems to be okay so let's leave it to him for wage rises etc.

Storm I agree re no need for new contract as he has 4 years left and that Dessers was the best finish last night. need to go for a lie down now after that admission ?.

16 Jan 2025 19:27:16
Superb post EHL. Another excellent insight. Look forward to seeing this approach bear fruit. Thanks for sharing.

16 Jan 2025 20:50:37
EHL2020 in your post you said Rangers will be linking up with agencies with a view to bring players over primarily for the Rangers B team but haven't you just scrapped your B team today? Just curious how it will work?

16 Jan 2025 22:39:15
Alright Storm, the point was more that neither were ready straight away and PC was right to ease them in, and he's far more qualified to know when they're ready then you, me or the majority of the fans. As for us still going as bad, it's not how I see it, I feel were getting better sll the time and but gor some horrendous defensive injuries, we'd probably be maybe 6 points better off. If you think we're still as bad Strom, then obvs you're entitled to your opinion and I can accept and respect that.
