I asked last night this question but got lost in traffic. Asa how do a club put on a valuation for a player. Does that players salary have an impact. If we have a guy on 5k would that affect the fee we ask.

Many factors determine value Walter.
Contract terms ie, salary, length of contract are part.
Current form ie. Demand.
Potential to improve ie. Sell ons
Market saturation also plays a major role.

Mostly I'd say it depends on a player's contract length, wage, recent form and of course the wider financial economy in football.

So if we want to sell ingaman for big money would it be prudent to have him on a longer improved contract to maximise the value?

We have given him 5. years with a year's option, there are built in wage reviews.

He's already on 5yr deal OWS?.

Asa perhaps you can explain why the money a player is on changes his value. I understand being paid poorly could cause them to be unsettled so want them to move and that may affect what we can get but that could be even if they are paid well and want to leave as their agent has unsettled them.
If anything would the fee not be larger if the wage is small as part of the complete package. for of a reverse free transfer where the wage is larger as there is no fee. as we have seen large salary means smaller number of teams can pay it. Sorry but I just can't get my head around it.
