Interesting story in The Times that Rangers and Celtic WOMEN might get invited into the English WSL. (Apparently 2 year notice period required to SPWL) . Unfortunately no suggestion that the men's teams being offered a similar pathway.

i used to think of would eventually play in england

i now dont, i always thought it would happen in my lifetime, that's no going to happen, i niw think the epl would need to be on its knees to offer us a shot.

Tom they don't need us with the money in the PL. Only way out of Scotland is through a European league.

14 Jan 2025 22:16:15
They don't want us in epl. Whos giving up there spot. Even if we started at the bottom. Imagine going to league 2 games. Thousands leaving glasgow every week. Be a lot if trouble imo.

probably correct ows,

it is to do with the 4 home nations and how they each have a vote in UEFA. If the Scottish teams applied to join the FA then UEFA want the home nations to merge and this would cut the voting powers so unlikely to happen as along as that is the case. If the 4 home nations women associations join then not the same issue really if that event even would exist.

Do any posters think we should have went to England in 2012?

14 Jan 2025 22:56:31
One thing that may be possible is to involve the SPL Teams in The FA Cup, and they would drop out of The League Cup with all other Scottish Teams competing for that trophy, just a thought/.

14 jan 2025 23:54:51
i think that would have brought untold problems and danger mark imo.

Cardiff and Swansea play in English league and home nations still have 4 votes.

15 Jan 2025 07:18:36
Cardiff, Swansea, Wrexham and Newport have all agreed to participate in the Welsh league cup I believe meaning we could potentially see Wrexham play in the Europa conference league if they were to win it from their position currently in league one. Not sure when this is due to start next season I'd have thought but it's food for thought that there could potentially be a conversation to be had with the English fa at some point about us participating in their league cup down the line.

{Ed001's Note - the English don't need the Scots, but the Welsh FA are desperate to get the big Welsh sides competing in their trophies. Also, they are Welsh teams that will now go back into a competition they used to play in. You are Scottish and it is has been 100 years since you Scots decided you didn't want to play in the English cup any more and wanted your own competitions.}

15 Jan 2025 08:16:40
So why's Celtic in our league? they're convinced they're O'irish????.

15 Jan 2025 10:03:56
So because of that then you English won't even have a conversation at some point down the line about any further inclusions?

{Ed001's Note - why would we want you and the problems you bring? Rangers fans destroyed Liverpool city centre when you played us in the Champions League, no one is going to want you in England. You are not worth the aggro. You just bring too much trouble. Sort out your sectarianism and maybe you might be welcome. Otherwise, the only reason to have you would be if the big clubs left to join a super league. Then you would bring income worthwhile for the clubs left behind.}

15 Jan 2025 10:42:35
I've been down south to Sheffield Wednesday, Derby etc following the team and not one bit of trouble. Not saying there hasn't been because of course there has the point i'm making is despite your grievances don't you think the fa would be open to a conversation for something like entry into the league cup at some point down the line? Bit rich to tar all with the same brush though mate when all I see from England away at international games is trouble and violence no?

{Ed001's Note - not sure what international footie has to do with it. You are making no sense there. You are missing the point, your teams don't bring enough money to make dealing with the problems you bring worth it. Along with that, the FA are not going to be interested either, as FIFA would love an excuse to cut the home nations down to just one. Again, you simply don't bring enough money to make it worth the risk.}

15 Jan 2025 11:10:22
That's all I needed to know, if money talks then money talks.

15 Jan 2025 11:35:52
Well we are Scottish who cause bother, but because its predominantly English fans at internationals causing bother they get a free pass, get your point about money and FIFA, but ger88 has a point regardless imo. So because the F. A have money they can deal with a national teams hooligan element. English league teams have a hooligan element also, not as prominent but its there. But it's OK cause they have money but we don't, what am I missing here.

{Ed001's Note - you both are missing the point. Neither are asking to play in someone else's league are they? You are the 'guests' who want to enter the English league, yet you can't be trusted to behave and don't bring in enough revenue to make it worthwhile putting up with the extra bother. What the England fans do or the English club fans do is irrelevant to this conversation and just shows the typical whataboutery crap that is why Scotland is still living in the Dark Ages and full of sectarian idiocy. You just point the finger and say 'but they do it', rather than fix your own problems.}

15 Jan 2025 11:55:15
I have bever been sectarian in my life, wasn't brought up like that, sorry Ed you brought the Your Scottish and You Scots into it, yes I agree we have an endemic problem, but England fans are English they also have similar problems regardless of international or league, it's not whataboutery as u put it, it was a genuine question I was asking, but fine carry on bud, think your off base here, so bad behaviour elements from English fans is irrelevant? And sorry but I'm not missing "your" point.

{Ed001's Note - omg are you not reading what the question is? It is irrelevant whether you are sectarian or what the English are doing. The question was about the Scottish teams joining the English game. Anything else you are talking about is whataboutery, not my fault if you can't understand that and you are just wasting my time now arguing. I am done with this.}

15 Jan 2025 12:07:07
Fine that's your choice, I'm aware that its about league entry, but when you include the problems we bring, expect to be challenged on English fans behaviour league and international. Apologies if you took umbrage, not my intention.

{Ed001's Note - I answered a question, but you had to bring whataboutery into it. You are just proving my point. You will never change because you all point the finger elsewhere, just as you are doing.}

15 Jan 2025 13:08:54
P. s I never mentioned anything about entering the English leagues, I mentioned one of the cup competitions as a starting point, but whatever.

{Ed001's Note - oh give up. You even said it yourself - a starting point. What else would it be a starting point for?}

English supporters are the words worst known facts.
