I would like to chip in on the chat about Scott Brown. He grew up a Rangers supporter and still was while at hibs. Now Rangers dragged there heals and pulled away from signing him and celtic stepped in and signed him.
So I can understand why he acted in the way he did at his time with them.
It was two fingers up to Rangers.
Now I don't think I could or would act this way towards the team I supported all my life, but I can understand it.
By the way. I still dislike him.

Cant take away his career at the tic but the guy is still a cretin and a fud.

So you can add turncoat to various other derogatory names that spring to mind.

No class whatsoever. More interested in playing the hard man and antagonising opponents. Callum the frog is a chip off the old block. Can’t remember any of our captain’s in my lifetime, who were also decent footballers btw, acting like this.

I’ve met Scott on a couple of occasions and including a night out, couldn’t have met a nicer guy, very humble and down to earth. The pantomime villain character he played on the park was just that…a character.

I see Cole McKinnon has joined him until the season end on loan, good luck Son at least you'll get the chance to show what you can do.
09 Jan 2025 07:56:28
Thats different story to what brown tells. Brown says he was never going to Rangers. Celtic was always his choice. that's how he found it funny when rangers fans were singing his name at easter road?
09 Jan 2025 08:10:27
If he was a crap player then we wouldn't dislike him as much. He regularly did what McGregor did to Raskin in last OF and got him booked by goading him. I didn't like him but could see he was a good player and would have had him in my side. you can dislike what he did and still think he is a good player.
Do we want a young player taught how to play the CM role then yes Brown is someone I would send him to.
09 Jan 2025 08:40:44
Dado he was not a turncoat rangers did drag their heels and signed the celt Supporting Thomson instead.
09 Jan 2025 09:13:16
Kevin thomson a celtic supporter John ??not on your nelly mate and we know tommo ?KT originally from peebles and was a big hibs supporter growing up? He's cousin's with steven mclean and one side of tommo's family are actually rangers fans and the other side all hibees ?.
09 Jan 2025 09:29:09
John, your not often wrong but you've got that 1 wrong mate.
09 Jan 2025 09:42:20
not sure what relevence that is SWS, all my family are rangers supporters apart from one brother who supports celtic, and this is a guy who has went to highest position within the lodge. so just because one or two members of a family support rangers doesn't mean they all do. we are humans not sheep.
09 Jan 2025 09:55:32
Give me some credit geesadodothat we actually know tommo and we've actually been to kelty when he was manager there through an invite and he never was a celtic supporter trust me ?.
09 Jan 2025 10:03:14
We chose to sign Kevin Thomson over Scott Brown and that turned out to be a big mistake.
09 Jan 2025 10:30:04
do I stand alone in that I down actually care which team any player we sign supports as long as they play well for us.
I thought Scotty that we were trying to sing both at the time but memory is probably wrong.

It was that cretin rod petrie of hibs that renaged in the shook hands agreement between him and martin bain of rangers at the time, regarding the scott brown transfer?
Bain and petrie shook hands on a fee of £3.9million for scott brown for the summer transfer and rangers moved for Kevin thomson right away in the january because they were confident of getting brown for that agreed fee in the summer that followed ?So we signed KT as celtic were sniffing about him as we knew, so we thought, that we'd be getting brown anyway that following summer ?But when celtic eventually bid for brown they offered petrie £4.4million and that cretin went back on his word and agreed that fee with them ?Petrie informed bain of the bigger fee from celtic and not honouring the shook hands agreement told bain he'd need to match celtic's offer of £4.4million from our original agreed bid of £3.9million?Thus bain told him what he thought of him and wouldn't raise the bid and pulled out the deal that's what happened ?.

Your right Angus we were.

Cheers Baxter.
09 Jan 2025 11:07:52
Just throw this in guys.
I met Walter (Smith), Ally (McCoist) and David Murray in a car park in Sighthill in Glasgow, ” explained Brown. “They were underneath the flats, sitting in a Land Rover and I blethered away to them. Then Celtic phoned to ask if I could speak to them and Hibs accepted the bid. They flew me down to London to Dermot (Desmond’s) place. I was looking around thinking ‘slightly better than Sighthill, this. I got on really well with Coisty and Walter and being at Scotland with Tam at the time as well, it was really good banter.
No handshake mentioned in this exchange, though it may have happened.
09 Jan 2025 11:12:36
Also this aswell.
Ironically, Murray was trying to keep Rangers on the straight and narrow when he refused to match Celtic’s financial deal for Brown.
Both clubs agreed to pay Hibs £4.4 million for the emerging midfield talent.
Murray, however, point-blank refused to break Rangers’ pay structure to sign the player.
Meeting the £4.4m transfer fee wasn’t a problem, ” he revealed.
“But we were not prepared to pay the £25,000-a-week he’s reputedly on at Celtic.
Just looking a bit deeper.
09 Jan 2025 11:15:49
Rangers matched Celtics bid of £4.4, it was called off by Murray as we wouldn't match Celtics financial package, he wouldn't break our wage structure. Posted more on another stream.
09 Jan 2025 11:24:19
Angus I am with you don’t care who they support growing up as long as they do business on park is all I care about.
Poor deal by Bain then coops losing out on Brian for 500k.
Clubs are always going to take more money also who witnessed the shaking of the hands?
09 Jan 2025 11:31:24
Depends Angus, if they are just a Celtic fan it would not bother me if they were a rangers hating republicans bigot then it would bother me. Also John Thomson was a hibs fan well known. I hated brown when he played against us but I couldn’t care about him now. He was a decent player but anytime he came up agaisnt a proper rangers midfield he was non existent ie Barry or Steve davis.
09 Jan 2025 11:45:04
We did want both but assumed Brown was a done deal and decided to move for Thomson first. Celtic wanted both and the cash they flung at Brown trumped us. Celtic didn’t want us to get both.
09 Jan 2025 12:35:15
Wasn't Bain Storm, it was Murray who called it off after matching the £4.4. He invited the hacks into ibrox to tell them he wouldn't break the wage structure, as Celtic had reputably offered 25k. Easily searchable if you look, a fair bit from the Herald/ Scotsman. There are others also.
09 Jan 2025 13:00:59
We signed Thomson in January, Brown went to them in the summer. anyway bar it for his injuries I still reckon we had the more complete player.
09 Jan 2025 13:59:11
Wishy Is the player Rangers hating if he is willing to sign for us.
also people may not like this but I couldn't give a big brown steamy stuff for all the Irish political and religious crap that seems to be attracted to both clubs. it is a game of football keep all that out of it. I welcome the Irish supporters (in fact all supporters) but not the politics and religion as they are different.
Born on east Coast of Scotland and never been to Ireland in my life. Had a pint of Guinness though so does that entitle me to an opinion on it.
09 Jan 2025 15:10:40
U should go its a beautiful country been there many times.
09 Jan 2025 15:31:46
Fork I have heard it is and mean no offence to Ireland or Irish people I just think that any politic or religion have no place in football. Too many other beautiful countries further afield for my wife to want to visit and drag me to though.
09 Jan 2025 18:15:29
Agree bud but your missing out mate and the people's hospitality is superb, scenery is amazing.
