I was talking to a hearts fan in the pub the other night and he was saying that shanklands performce has dipped this season as he no long wants to be at hearts and was hoping that a move to rangers would have come last summer, i think if we can get him in on bosman signing and then pay a small fee for him in january would transform our season as he can score goals.

I’m not his biggest fan but I agree it’s a non brainer. One thing it worth calling out would be the impact on the way we play, he does not work as hard at pressing and closing the defence down. Now, if he’s scoring goals then I’m sure we wouldn’t care but, PC is he’ll bent on playing a set way and I could see this causing issues.

Its amazing how fans nowadays always know what's in a players head and can tell that someone`s loss of form is down to him not wanting to be there or downing tools or whatever. From what I read the guy has been carrying an injury and playing in a poor team won`t help either.
The questions are, do we really want him if he`s the type that downs tools, or if he`s got in injury or if his goals have dried up?
I think Dessers needs replaced but he wasn`t that far behind Shanklands goal return last season considering he doesn`t take our penalties and despite the fact that he has been mince this season again, he has scored a lot more goals than Shankland.
Is Shankland really the upgrade we need?

Yeah I agree about Shankland if we could get him for a small fee in Jan he would not only bust a gut for us but would give us a focal point upfront which we don't have.

Not very professional or of the standard required. Plus he was never worth the figured being quoted - proven by the fact no one else came in for him.
I would have thought the opposite would have happened - work harder to make sure the move you crave happens.

Hubby, plenty said Dessers was better than Shankland but you're right only a few knew that wasn't true and said so.
A lot of people wanted Morelos to sign a new contract after he threw his toys out the pram when he never got a move mr potato, was that professionalism or of the standard required? . Players do all sorts to force moves, unfortunately its a
part of the game since the bosman
ruling came in.

Hearts have basically cut their own throat on this one. Just like we have a few times, they decided to hold onto him when they could have easily made money on him. Again, just as we did in the past, when we thought we could make more, and thumbed our nose at lower bids made, they will most likely lose him for sod all, or at the most, a fraction of what they could have made. All this crap about putting a value of over 5m on him, and sticking their noses up at bids of 1.5 - 2m (which they would have got), has come back and bit them on the arse.
Just as well they're in the black, eh?! Oh, wait, they're not!

Gotta laugh at some comments. let's not sign a Scottish predator striker as he's at a smaller club. Kris boyd springs to mind. Predator strikers can only score goals created by the team. think enough said in reality eh.

Hearts haven’t cut their throat. There has been no approaches for Shankland to date. That includes from us. Maybe we will move for him but to say Hearts have refused offers is just fantasy. Best to deal in reality than just make something up to suit your narrative.

I loved our record European Goalscorer, BigDado.
?Morelos? was unplayable at time in Europe.
The 2 legged tie against Antwerp where he scored or assisted 7 of the 8 goals ( and was already substituted when we scored the 8th ) was an all round magnificent display.
But one of many in recent years who found out the grass wasn’t greener elsewhere.

SS hearts haven’t cut their nose off as they apparently have had no bids for shanks. There old sporting director said they had no bids last jan for shanks. Don’t think think they were any bids for him in the summer either.

Nobody in this thread has said don`t sign Shankland from a smaller club .
Its easy to pick out strikers we have signed from smaller clubs, and by the way you missed the best of them all Colin Stein, but just remember there are others who didn`t make it at Rangers too, Sandy Clark to name but one .
