I expect no support whatsoever for this viewpoint but I’m not done with Clement yet. I still back him to turn our club around. For too long we have had managers adopt a sticking plaster approach, thinking only of short term gain in order to stay in their jobs. Now we have Phillipe Clement, a man of integrity and substance, who is trying his guts out to turn our club around.
His approach is the reverse of what we’ve seen in the past and I will accept short term pain for a more sustainable and successful club over the medium and long term. I understand why people want him gone because we are all hurting at how bad things are at the moment. I am trying to look beyond the current moment and I really hope and trust that things will get better.
Now, I’m off to lie down in a dark room.

You're perfectly entitled to your opinion 1872BLUE and i can relate to your points mate ?I remember a couple of years ago arsenal supporters wanted mikel arteta out but the arsenal board refused to bow to supporters pressure and gave him much more time than originally anticipated and look how that turned in the club's favour and let's be honest, that could possibly happen for clement at rangers ?Not let me be clear, i'm not saying it will but nobody can say fully ?% that it isn't possible ?.

Optimism or Delusion? Its a fine line.

Cheers SWS - Arteta is a good comparison and I’d love it if PC turned it around.

Walter, I get your point about Arteta however its not relatable to our situation. You could see what Areta was trying to do and albeit progression was slower than expected at Arsenal with Arteta, you could see it. We have regressed to the point where we are not even in a race for 2nd with a team on a 5th of our budget. No amount of time will save Clement. We were told we would see the fruits of his labour come October. There has been no sign of improved performances, no style of play or even a hint of how he wants to play. Our signings are mediocre at best. His interviews make no sense. He should have been sacked after the Killie game.

I sort of agree. With the state of the club currently and limit resources available I don't see a new manager making a huge difference and the good managers probably wouldn't touch us. Someone like Mcinnes might steady things but I don't them progressing us. We have taken the risk of changing the manager before and it hasn't worked so maybe this time the risk worth taking is sticking by this one.

1872 - good post.
I admire anyone that can look past the current malaise and see a positive putcome (potentially) .
Its thinking with the head and staying 'in the adult" rather than the heart and being 'in the petulant child'.
Both are valid and real responses to something we all care about.
Im somewhere in between and probably change by the hour!

Arteta hasn't won anything at Arsenal has he Sir Walter?
01 Nov 2024 23:23:23
Arteta has won absolutely nothing, if that's what striving for then good luck . Class at being 2nd is all he is.
02 Nov 2024 00:40:33
Arteta hasn't won anything yet in a league that's a helluva lot harder than the Scottish league. We're now 3rd in a two horse race. I'm at a lose at the minute so I'll shut up. Apathy has got the better me I'm afraid.

Supporters of Manchester United wanted rid of Alex Ferguson after a season too. If we get a response on Sunday, the team plays well and we get a result, that allows him to do what he did last season and put a string of results together. It's the only way. I basically agree with you.

Arsenal collapse every year so i can see the comparison.

Arsenal are pushing at the top of debatably the best league in the world, irrelevant if he wins it or not, they are competing and playing excellent football.
