I have to say, fantastic performance and result last night!
I thought all the players put in a good shift with some very good performances.
Every single Rangers player on that pitch made an error that could have cost us the points over the 90 minutes, yet some on here consistently obsess over the odd error from Tav.
Last night was the classic example of this with all the glaring chances missed by individuals to finish off Malmo and the Jack Butland short pass out that could have cost us a goal.
Any how, tin hat on and that's my rant for the day.
Despite this a fantastic shift and performance from all and more importantly a fantastic result, onwards and upwards.

I have got to admit, I feel Butland gets off scot free from many on here, even though his performances have been very sketchy. If Tav or Dessers makes a mistake they get rinsed, whereas, if it's Butland, then there's not much said about it.

I still think Tav is way past it now, and receding at a rate of knotts, from where he was last season and beyond, and that won't change.

CO2,nonsense, so all our players made mistakes last night, Tavernier has made MASSIVE mistakes in his last three games, good teams punish his mistakes but Tavernier had one of his better games last night.

Tavernier is in the natural regression stage. He is making more mistakes than any other player each game we play. We should have moved him on in order to progress as a team however we didn't and we will continue to see his mistakes when he plays. After last nights game I was impressed with young Kasanwirjo. He is a natural RB and I see him taking over from Tav very soon ??.

I am and always have been a massive Tav fan but even I can see a decline. It was noticeable that even though we have a new player playing out of position on the other side all of the attacks from Malmo came down our right. I'm just no sure Tav has the legs to do what we ask of our fullbacks, it is sad to see from someone who I consider a club legend.

there is no doubt he is regressing, its natural and he should have moved on i agree with all that. does he deserves the bashing he gets, no he doesnt. what happened to the "if he wears a rangers top he will always get my support".

Why was McCoist so critical of Dessers last night. I am old enough to remember misses and mistakes he made when playing.

27 Sep 2024 11:33:29
Tav needs a break. Missed most of preseason. But with sterling seemingly struggling with fitness and Jefte suspended last night there was no option. I expect Nara to get a start soon.

We should not be singling out any players negatively after the result last night. Some people on here would have been happy with a draw.
We beat them on home sole and could easily have been 0-5.
Great performance around and EVERY player did their job. Well done rangers, onwards and upwards!

I honestly think the hatred of Tav has gone beyond the sense of reason for a lot of our fans and it's pretty clear it's beyond any hope of redemption.

Shame really, as although he's far from his best - he still offers a lot.

27 Sep 2024 13:34:12
I just don't think he brings what he used to for the team. His attacking output is definitely going down naturally and he's not suited to being more of a defender. At some point i expect it to change. Compare the energy jefte has on the other side up and down it sort of reminds you what the role should be. Tavs obviously been told to reign it in a bit but we are now a bigger threat on the left than the right (cerny jury out also) .

My star,
Firstly, I have to say I totally agree with a lot you say on here and you’re insights on the rumours page are a good read.
I thought we were excellent last night but without really poor finishing in front of goal, the match should have been over at half time.
On Tav, I agree that time’s starting to catch up with him and let’s be honest, he was always better on the front foot than defensively.
What I noticed last night is that the Dutch right back playing on the left will push Tav for the position as I’m not sure Sterling will be a regular in that position.
What I’m saying is that I will choose to appreciate Tav for the short time he is still playing for us rather than obsessing about his mistakes while choosing to ignore others mistakes in order to prove a point.

Sxmccr tbh think he called it as it was critical when he missed and praised him when he did well.

27 Sep 2024 13:56:29
Tav won the most duels and had the most interceptions out both teams last night.

27 Sep 2024 14:02:42
CO2,yes we were excellent last night mate, but we can all see Tavernier isn't the player he was a couple of seasons ago, we will improve more as a team but Tavernier will be took out the side very soon.

27 Sep 2024 16:22:33
Also Europa put tav in team of the week and gave him a 7.1 out of 10 performance he done decent so did dessers and butland in my opinion.

27 Sep 2024 16:31:15
See Raskins stats re Tav last night. yes they maybe did target his side but they try to get overloads on one side with their style of football but our fans read into it as they see he is the weak side. if they were targeting the weak side then they would have initially have targeted Kasanwirjo making his debut, i. e. the right footed left back. Is Tav getting poorer attacking wise or is Jefte now being encouraged to attack so Tav sits back more, like Barasic did in previous seasons.
Yes Tav is getting older and may not be as great as he was but the hyperbole around this is ridiculous in that every Tav mistake is massive and will lead to a goal against better teams, but no-one else's does. It is all based around his performances against Maeda and getting beaten by Celtic. PC sees him as the answer and TBH no-one else's opinion here matters much.

27 Sep 2024 17:59:29
Angus I don't think it's just his performances v maeda, he's got a huge mistake in him every time he steps over the line and for our highest earner and captain it isn't good enough. I've yet to see any team attack so much down the one side as against malmo, you can spin your comment around and say yeah kasanwijro was playing in his first game for us, so why was tavs side attacked every time? Because other teams are seeing exactly what most of us fans see, it's so obvious mate.

because they play a relational form of football trying to build numbers on the one side so they can then switch the ball to pick on the weakest full back. it leaves a 1-2-1 which they can exploit. It didn't work her anyway. looked it up to see if there was another reason why they might do it and found that.

Tavs also has the largest percentage of key passes in the league last season which might mean he has some which go astray as it is more risk to play that type of pass than a side to side one. yes he has made 2 passbooks which were short in last 2 games but how many goals resulted from them.

however I can see he will never win as there is a perhaps growing agenda on the way he plays. we advent won anything, . he has been here all that time so therefore it is his fault. prefer to do my own thinking though rather than follow the norm.
