Good idea from John Gilligan today to reach out to Dave King asking him to conduct his business in private and stop publicly ripping our club apart. As a club this should be a time for recovery and everyone must get onboard and get behind the club.

Disharmony with the world watching on isn't a good look. Tough decisions will have to be made at Boardroom level and the Season Ticket Holders deserve better. King can be a positive force if he puts his weight behind the club. He has business contacts who I am sure would be looking to invest in our great club and return it to it's rightful place.

Just read his comments Blue, measured and sensible and all very reasonable and to the point. ??.

If Gilligan "reached" out to him asking for him to conduct his business in "private" then why did he do this in the full glare of the public/ media?! Talk about being a hypocrite! If he wants things to remain private, then having a pop at King in public is not the way to go about it. How in God's name did he think this was a good idea? Knowing King the way he does, does he think he'll sit back and agree/ accept this? Not a chance! I understand Gilligan's sentiment, but not the way he's went about it. What a mess!

I never thought of that SS, was more looking at what he said tbh, but now I think about it your correct?.

23 Sep 2024 18:09:48
I think he knows Sunshine that King has some more bullets to fire and warning him off the scent. King appears to have the fans onside by telling them what they want to hear. His story about Rangers forcing Gerrard out is a joke. Gerrard couldn't wait to get closer to the Liverpool job. Unfortunately that plan failed miserably. Gillighan, Bennett, Park and King are all dyed in the wool bears and they must find common ground for the good of the club and our supporters.

23 Sep 2024 18:36:06
My take on it was the Gilligan had to make a public response. King made his complaints public and the media took his 'leadership' as gospel. Gilligan basically said we are here, and doing the job and King can come to us in private. Decent response really without any escalation.

23 Sep 2024 18:56:42
Agreed blue, he seems a good man with the club in his heart. Hopefully he has a plan as some much needed positivity off the Park will allow the players time to gel.

23 Sep 2024 18:57:00
Dave King went public with his comments he left the chairman no other option but to reply publicly. Its disappointing to see someone who is a fan of the club behaving in a way that gives our many foes more ammo to fire at us.

Don`t think Gilligan is a hypocrite, he has fronted up for an interview and addressed the question of King very calmly and sensibly . He hasn`t criticised King or responded to any of his wild accusations, he has just asked a major shareholder to talk to the board in private. Nothing wrong with that, voice of reason, much needed.

23 Sep 2024 20:09:46
Don't recall him saying he had reached out saying that he asked King to do things in private, he was asked if he preferred King do things in private to which he replied YES but that he wouldn't sit there saying anything bad about King. If you are to comment slagging the man off then get the facts right and watch his interview for yourself.

He came across very well and handled it with dignity and had to face some stupid media questions.

23 Sep 2024 20:32:29
Totally disagree SS king made it like this with his Bs and Gilligan had to address it don’t see what he done wrong.

23 Sep 2024 20:33:37
Good post bigblue.

23 Sep 2024 20:56:46
Try reading my post again bigblue, but this time, try reading it right. The o/ p was the one who said reach out hence why I put "reach out" in inverted commas. C'mon, it's right there in black and white! ? And as for "slagging" the man! What? FGS, talk about being overdramatic, and sensitive! ????.

23 Sep 2024 21:13:55
There is no way King will join forces and bring investors to the table as long as certain guys remain on the board.

23 Sep 2024 21:14:27
I thought gilligans interview was ok. Although the "investment is coming" part i believe is a lie. If that was true it would have been done in the summer when we needed it and may have qualified for CL. If its investment for running costs or some other project that's not what we need. Clement needs backed.

23 Sep 2024 21:18:36
Gilligan is 100% correct … King needed to be told and the way to do it is publicly . That way if he ignores it he’s shown up for what he is .

23 Sep 2024 22:30:23
Lisbon that is my thinking, said it before some fans will have digs at Rangers when not even called for.

23 Sep 2024 23:04:22
So he should go to the public and criticise someone, for someone going to the public and criticising him? Pot/ kettle springs to mind.

24 Sep 2024 08:47:40
BB4 just watched the BBC website 40 second extract from his interview where he is asked about Dave King 'shutting up'. he doesn't criticise him, or at least I don't think it critical and seems balanced. he does say that he wishes as a shareholder he should keep these things quiet. that is the only part where some might think it is critical.

more has come out today from the full interview which is interesting where he talks about CEO position and investment, catching Celtic. Comes across again as very sensible. also comments on how PC was put forward as figurehead for the club when it shouldn't be him and JG sees himself doing more of that in future or future CEO. that sounds how it should be as well.

24 Sep 2024 12:08:25
Sunshine he's answering a direct question from scotlands poison media. What did you want him to do he's just been honest.

24 Sep 2024 12:21:51
What Gilligan did reaffirm is that while the board is open to investment they will not allow one man to own the club ever again. They said that when they took over and it was a reference to David Murray and the trouble we found ourselves in when he lost interest in the club. A single owner is great if you get the right one but football is littered with big clubs brought to their knees by having the wrong one. Its a risk they won`t take.

24 Sep 2024 13:04:24
Foolmonty which board members you want out, also u do know at present king is actively trying to sell all his shares

They were offered to the brothers just before his latest rant.
