New striker and new right back is imperative in January I think we all agree.
It seems to be the profile of player that we disagree on.
05 Sep 2024 07:54:51
We have 4 strikers for 1 position? We also have sterling and the new boy who can play and I expect are both better than Tav? Are you sure those two positions are the priority for January?
05 Sep 2024 08:08:07
Yes Dado, let me explain.
Dessers- best we have but is the one fans want rid of.
Danilo- too unreliable and has potential Roofe syndrome.
Igamane- too raw to put all pressure on.
New striker needed.
Tavernier- best we have at right back according to opinion of last 7 managers/ caretakers. Past his best and needs replaced. If sterling was the answer there would not still be a question to ask.
05 Sep 2024 08:12:38
We have 4 players Dado IMO none of them are true strikers, what a shambles, and now, Matonda (Roofe 2) could be out for up to 6 weeks, total joke of a backroom staff the length of time our players miss through injury.
05 Sep 2024 08:19:21
How do you know Danilo is unreliable? The fans don’t make decisions at the club? How often have you watched Igamane to stat that he’s too raw? I’ve never seen the lad play other than you tube and I’m sure like me your not judging him by you tube?
Dessers will score 30 goals this season (zero against Celtic) .
In fairness, the new boy wasn’t available for all of those managers and Tav from 5 year ago is not the same as Tav we have today, not really a level playing field for comparison is it?
05 Sep 2024 08:25:15
can't see us buying a new striker just because the fans don't like Desser. It may be that PC wants an upgrade. I also think it depends at RB on how the new dutch lad does although he does also play DCM and CB so might play there. Is he the new ball playing DCM we need.
Personally I think an experienced number 6 is our priority in January.
05 Sep 2024 08:32:51
Sterling also not great injury wise.
05 Sep 2024 08:52:45
Dado i am unsure what you are trying to put across.
Last week not 5 years ago Clement had a choice tavernier or sterling. He chose Tavernier. Quite simply Argument over.
Igamane to raw on common sense he wasn't even ready to train properly.
Danilo- unreliable based on clear evidence of availability again quite simply argument over.
A number 6 would be fantastic but again we can't agree on profile.
For example I prefer a Kimmich type 6 over a Rodri type.
05 Sep 2024 09:17:36
Need a striker asap Dado, for me that was the priority close season, a threat! Someone who can take the moments in big games and hold it in when we are under pressure.
They have someone who didn’t cost the earth and does it time and time again especially in the big games.
We are pinning a lot on this young Moroccan lad,
Think you’re referring to Lovelace aswell? Not featured in the first team much and Danillo is not fit after that bad injury then he’s still to prove it, that could be another bad transfer.
Dessers is very limited as we have saw, I’m trying to be fair to the big guy but plain to see we need much better.
05 Sep 2024 09:37:50
Asathor if only football was that simple
We are now in September just how unfit was igamane
Tav was selected but was it the right call
Danilo unreliable seems a bit of a harsh tag, the guy has had two serious injuries and is being slowly returned to first team duty, still hoping he turns out to be the player we hoped he would be.
The player we need is simply a character big enough to demand performances from those around him don’t care what position he plays.
05 Sep 2024 09:45:03
Dado are you being serious how is Danilo unreliable? He has hardly played because of injury
Who’s the 4? Dessers Danilo and igname? That’s it.
05 Sep 2024 09:45:46
Interesting seeing the argument/ chatter above.
For me;
1.Striker will only come if he ‘replaces’ Dessers (who has already declined offers to move) .
2.Assume in terms of right back all mean a ‘right back’ 4-4-2 style rather than a wing back (in which case I concur)
3. CDM - if as many believe we are too porous front to back then for me this midfielder needs to be able to protect the back four/ disrupt opponents midfield and link with our own wingers/ strikers (and in this case I would take a swift, intelligent player like claasen)
4. Wingers? If we are seeking a new winger it means first moving out some of what we have (Matondo/ McCausland) . Have said before I actually feel Jefte could provide a more old fashioned winger role. He has pace, power and good aerial ability. This how would mean adding a ‘left back’ (much in the vein of the RB above) .
As for injuries, great to have players back quickly, and you can debate the quality of injury treatment, but we cannot legislate for on pitch injuries.
05 Sep 2024 09:45:58
Shankland in January then?
05 Sep 2024 09:52:49
I don’t agree that the sole decision on right back was Tav was fancied more than Sterling, our lack of options in mid field was the bigger driver. Sterling was pushed into centre mid and the Dutch boy had just signed. The choice of right back was between Tav and Devine, Tav (as the current captain of Rangers) was favoured.
The real question on PC today is who he’s playing at right back within the next few weeks. I’d like to see Tav on the bench and Sterling playing right back. This is purely a personal opinion.
Igamane is now training with the first team and having a short transition period getting up to speed. He actually played on Sunday against the strongest team in the league, this doesn’t not suggest a player too raw to play? That’s common sense (not a person opinion) .
Danilo had two brutal injuries, not because he is fragile like Roofe, the a number of centre forwards would have backed out the header against St Johnstone, he was actually really brave to score the goal and take the broken cheek bone, certainly not a fringe or unreliable player, I’m sure Roofe was out due to a hair transplant at one point.
With the up most respect, we’ve said ‘I think we all agree’, surely you understand you can’t state this and expect people not to provide their opinion on the topic? What are you trying to achieve by doing this? I was under the impression you wanted to get peoples views and engage in a discussion?
I’d suggest a centre half and centre midfielder are higher priorities than centre forward / right back. We can’t keep player Souttar and Dio appears to be lacking a lot in confidence, perhaps he’d benefit from a break however, we’re too low in numbers to achieve this, he’s guaranteed a start regardless of form which is a real issue for me.
05 Sep 2024 09:55:12
I’m thinking a new centre half is a priority.
05 Sep 2024 09:59:44
Tav is passed it ovously don't think sterling is the answer at RB, Well known sterling crossing is hopeless at other teams playing at rm final pass was bad aswell, would just drop tav pulling alsorts a player's out a position should a loaned him out at least, not judging young players yet when captain can't own his position no rebuild with him still in the team lol.
05 Sep 2024 10:10:10
Storm he had a broken cheek bone and a bad knee injury, does this make him a drug or player? I’m not sure it does. We’ve had players in the past (Roofe and Jack for example) who were simply always out with niggling injuries. From what I can see he’s had two large injuries which have kept him out. He played with a mask on during the cheek bone injury, I don’t think frigle players would do that do you?
05 Sep 2024 10:11:15
Angus Clement will know Dessers not the answer he does not need the fans to tell him that.
05 Sep 2024 10:41:17
Go back to january we all knew we needed a striker and defence upgraded. Neither have happened imo. We got to summer and we knew we needed an experienced tough CDM - we didn't get either. We all wanted the RB changed and well.
Hopefully by the next window or 2 its more straight forward to get upgrades knowing we don't need to bring in 10 players.
05 Sep 2024 11:19:39
Rosevale I hope he does ?
Danillo is unreliable due to the fact he looks injury prone which has been the case so far
Cortes unreliable as he too looks injury prone proven so far
Dessers not a big game striker prefers the Motherwell and Ross county games etc
Tavernier is captain until he’s not I don’t see him being dropped unfortunately
Raskin to affect also been quite injury prone and not looked at the races when he does come on
Igamane if player is not fit enough to train him on earth does he pass a medical is fitness not part of it does the player not keep himself in good condition such as it should have taken a couple weeks to get up to match fitness?
what am I missing here guys?
Or should I say what is recruitment missing?
05 Sep 2024 11:20:38
We are far too east to play against so a solid CM to play alongside barron and dio is imperative and a solid mobile ch because the ones we have are average and although it's early to judge Propper he looks very slow and not the most physical, if you don't concede many goals your always in the game.
05 Sep 2024 11:31:29
No Rosevale what you are saying is that fans (all of them? ) don't see Dessers as being the answer and surely Clement must see the same. he scored 22 last season and is on 5 this season. who would come in and hit the ground doing that and continue. what is needed is better service creating more chances for him and also others chipping in with high single figures/ . double figure amounts. When was the last time a midfielder scored 10+ goals for us.
so when Dessers or Tav doesn't score who does and we risk draws or defeats as a result.
05 Sep 2024 11:39:54
We need a centre half with pace am faster than souttar and proper and am in bits.
05 Sep 2024 11:56:07
Asked same question how did a 20 year old player arrive so unfit he was not able to even train correctly, you could not make it up.
05 Sep 2024 12:11:16
Stig he will need to drop Tav soon if this continues, or or the manager will take the brunt.
As we have debated on here I think it might get more toxic if he does not.
05 Sep 2024 12:22:13
Sterling should be first choice RB. I don't think Clement has the balls to drop Tav.
05 Sep 2024 12:22:48
How can you blame the backroom staff on Matondo getting injured again. He had a history of missing lots of games before we signed him . The people to blame are the guys who have repeatedly spent our money on injury prone players deciding that's its worth taking the risk because we are getting them cheaper . Its happened ever since Gerrards time with Roofe and even Wright who missed lots of games with the sheep. It has continued with the likes of Matondo, Dowell, Lawrence and Davies. Hopefully the new management team has realised this and makes availability one of the key factors in signing players.
05 Sep 2024 14:05:11
CB CM ST RW LW are the priority positions. What we currently have in those positions won't win us titles!
05 Sep 2024 14:16:50
Storm I’m in hospital had a Hip operation. I would get by Propper on his showing against them on Sunday ??????????.
05 Sep 2024 15:20:52
Take care, Cunny.
05 Sep 2024 15:30:46
A think dessers will have to do for this season, get a cb and a cdm make us hard to beat then add firepower next season.
05 Sep 2024 15:35:35
Asathor. you may actually be right but I think your mistake was to assume that on this forum that everyone would agree ?.
05 Sep 2024 16:30:57
Better service?
He can’t hold it up how do you answer that, who’s to blame, said it before these stats don’t tell the story, every fan I talk to are all in despair with him as Rangers striker.
It’s your opinion but I don’t need his stats I’ve watched him.
06 Sep 2024 02:08:08
Cheers MPH. I’m getting home today ?????????.
