This post won't make me popular.
I understand that we are all deeply upset regarding the recent defeats and another year where we didn't make the champions league.
Having sacked GVB AND Beale in the last couple of years we have no option but to get this trading model up and running in order to compete with the lot across the city. Its going to take a a year or so but otherwise we run the risk of getting the same result which none of us are happy about. So as much as we don't like it there really is no other option. If in a a couple years time we are still in the same position then we sack the manager.
TBH nobody else would want the job the way it is and we want to be attracting the best coaches too. Please stick by the team in the meantime and see where we get to. We can do without arguing amongst the supporters or shouting at the captain or manager in the street which the lot on the other side of the city must be loving!

We should never have sacked GVB!

It’s going to take a few years to get trading model up and running.
The majority of the support wanted rid of gio ray.

Gio's style of football was boring and many wanted rid of him.

I know they did stromtrooper and it was a mistake. We should have moved on Goldson, Tav, Lundstrum when there stock was high. They got more managers the sack that trophies won.

I agree Ray the way he was treated by the board and the Snake was disgusting I felt like many others he had enough in the bank from the Europa run and winning the Cup. He also was decimated with injuries to the point our central Defence was Sands and King. Given time he could have turned it around but we’ll never know due to some fan unrest and the snake getting in the ear of board members.

Gio had a lot better players to choose from also. We are effectively at square one just now and fans need to realise that. We all want to win yesterday i get that but just look at both squads its not a quick fix.

We are in a bad place whether it was getting rid of GVB, or poor recruitment over the years, we are in a position of not enough quality players in squad and no money to buy better . We need to go back to basis and buy players who have a love of Rangers . Players who are prepared to give 100% for Rangers. We need to sign players who are blue blooded Rangers players and move away from the foreign market, until we find our feet again.

Other than Barron, who will make us a large profit in the next couple of years?
Butland - unlikely.
Tav will run down contract.
Yilmaz, Diomande, Matondo, Dessers, Danilo will be lucky to get half what we paid.

Oh well then SirSluth!
Dear God!

Ger58, you only need 1 or 2 to make a large profit and that buys you several players. Exactly what Celtic have done with O'riley.
Most of the names you said there have been previous managers signings. Dio and Barron will come good.

Ray, Our league form under Gio was average, his big success was in Europe where he looked at home tactically and this success was driven largely by Tavernier and Lundstram, two players you are saying he should have got rid of. His humiliation in the CL league started when Goldson got injured against Liverpool.
His big problem was recruitment which by all accounts was being done by Ross Wilson which begs the question did he agree with the players being signed and if he didn't why didn't he stand up and say so. To me he just didn't have the personality to be Rangers manager and even though he played here he didn`t seem to understand how to win in Scottish football. Just like a few in the past, a nice guy and a Rangers great but not a great manager.

Yes Wsl, because we had the same core of underachievers! They are the common denominator.
04 Sep 2024 14:20:12
maybe he did stand up and say so and that's why he isn't here. he had the worst injuries to put up with at the start of the CL and recruitment basically was well just wait until your players are fit or else we will have too many. whilst that is correct how should you sack a manager who had more key players injured than anyone. I am not saying GVB would have been our best ever manager given time but feel getting rid of when we did was very poor from our board.

Gio's race was ran, unfortunately.
No sentiment in football.
We've now cleared the decks for the first time in years by getting rid of crocks, the overpaid and some of the underachievers. Something we all wanted.
But most are now greeting and don't have the patience about the reset and rebuild.
Years of mismanagement from a playing perspective when you have limited funds was never going to be rectified overnight.
