Very interesting provisional seedlings for next weeks Europa League draw. We will be in Pot 1 seeded 5th out of 36 teams.
We will play two teams from each of the four pots
There will be four groups consisting of 9 teams, four games at home, four away.
Top two each group go through to last 8, mb, anomaly appears that three could go through from a group or in fact a group could have zero go through
Then teams who finish 9-24 have a playoff round
This makes up list for last 16
It's explained a wonderful computer will determine all clubs actual position from the 36 competing
Happy to be corrected on how last 16 is actually determined.

John2561, computer will work out 2 teams from each group that each team will play, 3 points for win,1 point for draw.
One league of 36 teams top 8 teams straight into knockout, next 8 seeded against the next 8, seeds play second game at home .
Bottom 12 teams out of Europe.
Same system in CL no drop down to lower competition.
They recon it will take a couple of days to work out fixtures.

The new format is a single 36 team league, each team has 8 games 4 at home and 4 away generated by a computer. Each team will play 2 teams from each pot. Top 8 teams after all games have played go straight to last 16, the teams from 9th to 24th play a playoff and the 8 winners make up the last 16.

John, the teams are split into pots to determine the matches. However, it is not split into groups for position purposes, it is one big league phase where the top 8 go directly through. 9-24 playoff and the rest go out.

It’s all very straight forward however I think it will prove to be unfair boring and tedious.
I do agree with not having teams drop down though.
Let’s see how it works but I’m not sure it’ll stand the test of time.

I’ll watch Rangers Europa Games and take a little interest in other matches In that competition only because Rangers are in it.
Due to the new mundane format I’ll not take much interest in the CL until nock out faze.
I can’t believe it was a change designed with the average football fan in mind.
All about money but if fans turn off they will panic and re think this stupid format.

Like a few have said 32 team league table, no groups! Top 8 go through to last 16 and 9-24 play a 2 legged playoff to make up the other 8 in last 16. Correct when you said we play 8 different teams 4 home 4 away. 2 from each pot. 6 games will be before Xmas and 2 in January. That’s it in a nutshell!
