A question for you the covenanter and i'm asking your good self, because you were a coach yourself mate. As we all probably know, our reserve coach peter lovenkrands and our under 18 coach kevin thomson, are highly regarded at the rangers training centre. I know one of the coaches very well at our training centre and he rates both very highly and actually did say to me that kevin thomson could well be a future rangers manager. Now we all know that could/ would only happen if he went to manage another club elsewhere first and was a complete success at it! I like a good few and i've said before on here that i also think current dundee utd manager robbie neilson is a good manager/ head coach. what's your take the covenanter, do you rate any of these 3 and do you think lovenkrands, thomo or nielson could be future rangers manager's mate? 🤔.

What about the motherwell manager coops. I think he has been the best manager about and the job he has done at motherwell has been brilliant.

Have to agree fauldhoose bear and i did say to some jambo pals of mine that hearts should have went for motherwell manager stephen robinson instead of stendel, when they were contemplating levein's replacement!
Robinson has continued to lose his best players at motherwell and keeps rebuilding his team back to a good level each time. I think he's rebuilt about 3 times now. He undoubtedly should be given the northern ireland manager's job imo. He's proved he's a good manager.

SGL, I don't know much about Lovenkrands as a coach but I've heard Thomson is very good, but lacking a bit in imposing discipline and would need to add a ruthless streak before being talked of as a Rangers manager. I had the privilege of coaching Robbie as a kid and I knew his dad Ian well. He was at Ibrox from the age of 10, then was an 'S' form but at the last minute the club decided not to sign him despite him being recommended buy the junior coaching staff. It broke his heart and has rankled ever since, so unless he has forgiven and forgotten, Robbie won't be Rangers manager either. As for Robinson, I wouldn't let him in the door.

has the ability to be a future rangers manager/ head coach, putting his heartbreak as a youngster aside for a minute the covenanter? 🤔A lot of young rangers players that have been rejected/ let go in youth forgive and come back, as those things often happen at every club at times mate! Its all part of football i suppose.

Robbie Neilson wouldn’t be for me although naming a future Rangers Manager would be hard. Even if StevieG was to go he has left the whole club stronger than it was. Big year ahead for StevieG✌️🇬🇧.

SGL, I don't believe Robbie has it in him to be Rangers manager, mate. And while loads of boys are disappointed when they aren't signed it was the manner in which we dealt with Robbie that he and him family found disgusting, and a couple of others like me, to be honest.

Guys keep your pants on! 😂I'm only asking the question, i'm not saying neilson, robinson have the ability to be the next rangers manager! From what i've heard from my mate ie. one of the coaches at the rangers training centre, our under 18 coach kevin thomson is very highly thought of/ regarded within the training centre and the corridors at ibrox. If he progresses the way they think,
then trust me a good few in there think KT is future rangers manager material. For the record as you all know i rate steven gerrard and i'm still totally backing him and believe in him, but everyone has to leave one way or another, one day and i think the next rangers manager after gerrard will be gio van bronckhorst and i'd honestly bet a decent amount of dough on that!

There is a train off thought within Rangers that Defoe will be the next gamble as manager 2024.

Morning fellow bears. With all this talk about which strikers to sign, we all have our own opinion. I have just read an interesting piece from a former rangers striker (and a very good one at that) Billy Dodds. He thinks that Lyndon Dykes would be a very good fit. Billy is a guy that I would certainly listen. Thoughts Bears.

Dykes is untested against teams that dig in. He will never have faced that at Livingston. I am not totally against him signing but he would be a big gamble and at anything over 500k I wouldn’t be interested!

Ger4life and SGL. There is always risks attached with new players. Like others, my opinion is that Rangers need four good strikers that offer different things to the team so that Gerrard can mix it up when needed. Dykes could be one of those strikers as I think he offers something different from what we already have. I thought he played well against us at Ibrox. And at the end of the day if he comes in and does well everyone that has doubts will move on. If he doesn’t do well or fit in then he will become like Greg Stewart. I suppose the question to ask ( and I don’t know the answer to this) is there a better alternative available, someone better or with greater potential for the price?

The Stuck, i have many years experience following rangers everywhere pal and let me tell you this. I would never except being runners up to them at tiddlywinks,
let alone football! 😂 Over the years i would love to have had a penny everytime when we went to sign a player from a smaller club in scotland, for the amount of times i've heard the negative comments from people like yourself spouting that he's not good enough, he's alright playing for them and not us etc, etc! Every transfer has a degree of a gamble attached to it. I'll also tell you that over the years and players we've signed from other scottish clubs, there's been a helluva lot of good signings, with them improving even more when they came to us. I also have seen failures and also big name foreign failures!,
So we don't know for definite if dykes would be a good signing or not my friend! I personally think he would be!

dykes and a speed merchant. can't see how 6foot + would not be helpful against clubs that sit in. makes no sense i'm afraid.

For every Billy Dodds there will be two or three who differ, just like on here. I differ completely from Coops, for instance, I can see little to suggest Dykes would improve enough, quickly enough to offer us a real striking option.

I am now 51. I also had the great pleasure of working with the head grounds man at Ibrox for 12 years. Keep following my friend.

It was called Forth all right and I also have connections with the village, my Grandfather was born there! As for all our backgrounds, I first saw Rangers in August 1958, which is almost 60 years of follow following. My mother was born in Paisley Road West and legend has it that my great grandfather on that side actually saw the team play at Kinning Park and was really put out when they moved along to Ibrox!

SGL, I tend not to get involved with speculation mate, although I will post wee snippets and rumours I hear occasionally. I prefer to wait until it is presented to us as a fait accompli, it's more exciting! However, any striker we do sign will be, I think, about two levels above those currently quoted on here.

i was born in blackburn street in kinning park in 1948 and i don't remember ever been told they had played in kinning park, i am not saying it never happened but if anyone has any info on this i would be interested to know.

True blue, we started at Glasgow green, move to Burnbank, Govan and thereafter played at Clydesdale cricket club, in kinning park. There after Cathkin park, then first ibrox before the first disaster.
It was extensively rebuilt and expanded on the site we occupy today.

Just shows how corrupt Scottish football is when they call the league early but then want to play out the scottish Cup imo can't be done unless they U-turn the calling the of the league and play it out as well.

just feels like this is a frantic attempt to try and ensure Celtic get the scottish Cup as well as there's no other way they could just award them the S.C. just stinks to high heaven they should just have held off and played out the season like the other associations are doing now or they should have null and voided the season and awarded European placed on current standings.

I agree they should have waited but let's be honest we were never catching them. Why do people persist on going over the same ground. Mathematically it was possible but there is not one fan who would have put a grand on us catching them. Move on👍.

Aye ready can I just say 2 things 1) if we had beaten a piss poor hearts team, we would be in the semi and 2 games from winning the Cup. (2)Its 3 games max not over 100 games the league had to play and the SFA will get the money from sponsors if played out-let's move on to more important things like trying to win this league.

According to media reports this morning, it may be a straight fight between lyle taylor V lyndon dykes, that rangers sign to become their 3rd striker and adding to already there alfredo morelos and jermain defoe!

In various media reports billy dodds gives a glowing reference on dykes and chris erskine who's played beside both dykes and taylor, stated any the two of them would be very good signings for rangers. If it was simply between these two strikers fellow bears, which one of the two, would you prefer rangers to sign? 🤔

its getting goals from the others that's important. we are too reliant on Morelos or Defoe. we need goals from the wingers or midfield to make the difference.

Ceferin has said that games that have nit started ie no first leg will be played over one game. He then said likelihood is al. Games ties need to be the same.

Fredo scored 29 goals in 46 games this season.
Defoe scored 17 goals in 32 games this season.
I think we do need a couple of different options up front this coming season but goals from our strikers hasn't been our biggest problem.
Goals from midfield
Defending better as a team. If we can improve on these things we'll have a good season.
If we change formation I can't see it being 4-4-2 that often.

Correct MrGrumpy. Tactics weren't the only issue.
Too many players returned after the winter break out of form.
The defence conceded too many soft goals down to individual errors.
Too reliant on our main strikers for goals with our wingers and midfielders letting us down.
And not enough leaders in the team when the going for tough which was a disappointment considering you have McGregor, Davis, Jack, Arfield etc.

My post was about Fredo being first choice, backed up by Defoe who has done a good job but offers nothing different if plan A doesn't work. Then a third choice that's hardly prolific. If we go in with those three as only options and keep one up top we likely end up with the same result, which if neither of you have noticed is second and miles off the pace. It didn't work this year so what makes you think it will next?

Also Defoe is another year older and do you think he has the legs to be a top back up for another whole season of 50/ 60 games? They scored 25 between them in the league this season, where they going to get the other 25 in the few games that were left to take them to this magic fifty?

Having the option of a TM in squad is a good idea though.

Hi guys, quick question, all this talk on strikers for next season just now, how confident are you that Morelos and Defoe will provide the goals required, to my mind, it's all down to the feeding of our strikers from the Middle and wings, that's where we lost the league this season. If you look at Celtic, they had 5 or 6 players scoring vital goals in tight games, we had an occasional goal from midfield and out wide. We need horses for courses to win this league, and that means players with SPL experience, anything from England or Europe that works for us is a bonus.
