I like McLean. Hope we do get him. The more good Scottish talent the better . I know he's had terrible luck with injury, however I am yet to be convinced by rossiter. Massive season for him.

10 Jul 2017 13:21:27
Our trouble is we have a terrible track record of keeping talented midfielders fit, Ness, McCabe, Macleod and now Rossiter. To bring an injury prone player in is a huge gamble.

If we can keep Rossiter fit this year then we will have won a watch as this boy can play, yes he keeps it plain and simple and he is not going to run by 3 players and put the ball into the top corner but for me the team is missing someone to take the ball off the defense and use the ball wisely and allow his team mates to create and score.

Massive season for Rossiter but back to McLean. its a no from me, we got the best player Aberdeen had to offer so that will do me fine thanks.

10 Jul 2017 16:59:11
Talented, Bazza? Plymouth Argyll, Sligo Rovers and Brentford?

10 Jul 2017 22:22:55
Bazzabear do you really think we got the best player aberdeen have to offer? I don't know one aberdeen fan who was sad to see Jack go. The same aberdeen fans have all said they would be gutted to lose McLean to us. McLean is a much better player than Jack albeit different types of midfielders. When we signed Jack I assumed he would be used as a squad player not a first team regular.

11 Jul 2017 09:52:00
wee-ecky - All 3 players were great talents when they came through our youth system and looked the part when they came into the first team, but injuries hampered their development. Lewis MacLeod was fantastic and I was sorry to see him go.

Jack has been Aberdeen's most consistent player for the last few years and to captain them from such a young age must mean he has a good head on him. Yes I stand by the statement that he was their best player and he has performed well for us since he joined.

If Rossiter stays fit for next 2-3 seasons and performs well for us, we will make a good few millions from him.

09 Jul 2017 16:44:55
Do we actually need McLean, I don't think so, we've got Rossiter, Jack, Pena and Dorrans all as 1st choice central midfield players, we only play 3 in the middle, I obviously haven't seen Pena play but McLean isn't better than any of the others.

I do think we need Jamie Walker tho, If Barry McKay went for 500k Hearts can't really expect double that for him.

09 Jul 2017 18:51:42
I really don't see what anyone sees in rossiter absolutely terrible if you ask me. Looks tiny, brown will do him in the first old firm game if he makes it.

09 Jul 2017 19:35:34
Rubbish, the boy Rossiter has great potential and will become an outstanding player if he can stay fit and develop.

09 Jul 2017 19:37:03
We also have young Barjonas who plays CDM and hopefully Pedro will give him some game time depending how things go. Would like to think he would be used for Lge Cup games same for Atayaki and definetely Alnwick. Always think the back up Keeper should get that Comp. These lads need to get on and Lge Cup is perfect stage.

09 Jul 2017 21:38:23
Haha brilliant. "He looks tiny", what do you think of Messi? Rossiter gets stuck in more than most, he's one of the only players we have that is good at pressing players when we don't have the ball

10 Jul 2017 11:19:15
ever heard of Billy Bremner, one of the hardest midfielders ever, all 5ft 6inch of him

10 Jul 2017 15:31:06
I'm not talking about his height. I've seen more meat on a butchers pencil. The guy is rank rotten and if any of you can come on here at the end of the season and tell me different then fine. How any of you actually know how good he is, is beyone me as I've never heard of many people who watch England or Liverpool under 20s. He won't even get a game this year.

10 Jul 2017 16:06:18
Perth, maybe you should try some of your own medicine.
How come you get to voice your opinion but everyone else needs to wait until the end of the season?

10 Jul 2017 16:55:49
Who needs enemies when you've got supporters like Perth. Deary me, get a grip. Rossiter will be the real deal if he can stay injury free.

10 Jul 2017 17:15:38
Of course I hope the boy proves me wrong. But haven't seen anything that leads me to believe he will can't see him getting a game. Maybe I'm being slightly critical but after last year can you blame me.

10 Jul 2017 17:18:59
What do I think of messi? Haha don't really think that's got anything to do with it? I think the role rossiter is supposed to be doing requires someone with a bigger physique but that's just my opinion

10 Jul 2017 23:32:28
Ok then if you want to compare position for position then what about Mascherano, Cambiasso or Davids. All were small guys but get stuck in. Judging by your standards they're too small to have made it in football

10 Jul 2017 23:56:19
N'golo kante is 5ft 8 and is considered the best holding midfielder in the world. Tenacity, positioning and timing more important than height and strength

11 Jul 2017 13:26:39
Haha well we'll see if he ends up in the same bracket as them then, my guess is he won't. I'm not saying the guy is sh*t just because he's wee but the SPL is pretty physical and I think he'll struggle. Only time will tell.

09 Jul 2017 15:50:28
This post may split opinions but I would love to see a new keeper brought in. Wes is decent but nowhere near commanding enough which does not help the defence. Someone like Allan McGregor would bring much needed calmness, experience whilst organising the defence in front of him.

09 Jul 2017 16:38:02
I agree to a certain extent, but if there are going to be any more signings I would much rather be looking at bringing in two full-backs worthy of the jersey.

09 Jul 2017 17:49:32
Same Allan McGregor who was commanding the defence against Lyon at home 3-0 defeat lol watch that on YouTube for a reminder think be enough said on him mate

09 Jul 2017 18:36:04
McGregor was top drawer in his day. Not seen him play for a few years tho.

09 Jul 2017 19:38:57
Yes on his day he could be very good indeed. I recall lots of games though when it clearly was not his day. The lad Fod was our best player last season and the boy Answick last looks to be an able deputy.

10 Jul 2017 08:34:23
Sorry pal but kenny miller was our best player last season!

10 Jul 2017 09:59:13
Too many contributors to this site are calling for another goalkeeper when, we haven't seen Alnwick play yet. OK he has had 1 game. It seems as though they want money spent for the sake of spending. Niven, Ritchie, Klos, Goram, etc didn't command their 6 yard area. I can't remember a Rangers goalkeeper who did - maybe the "Girvan Lighthouse".

09 Jul 2017 12:29:41
I know everybody is hoping that when Alves comes in it will allow tav to attack and sort out the defence but I think that even the best defenders would struggle when the full back is never there.

09 Jul 2017 16:46:59
Tav isn't that good in attack either. Wastes so many balls from promising positions.

09 Jul 2017 18:37:29
I agree he has very limited close control and his balls into box are hit or miss.

09 Jul 2017 20:11:54
Callum patterson was one that got away simple

09 Jul 2017 11:20:59
Genuinely disappointed that we've sold wee Barry thought he could have been brilliant for us anyone else feel the same?

09 Jul 2017 14:19:34
aye and no.

bags a talent but no heart like that keiron tierney.

he was all a bout hairgel and got caught up in the limelight, was to into aw they crap songs some of our less educated enjoy to sing.

a hope we have a sell on fee or we have missed a trick.

anyway europe was a blow but it was our first game

hopeful for second and a cup this year

09 Jul 2017 15:01:26
You contradict yourself saying you want a sell on fee. He was our best player by a mile. I actually don't recall one of our great wingers ever getting stuck into a 50-50 tackle by the way. We lost out here and the manager has handled it badly. There's no sugar coating it but of course plenty of posters will.

09 Jul 2017 17:09:04
I will be very surprised if McKay makes the grade in the English championship at all this coming season in my opinion he is just not strong enough and has been living off his goal against Celtic in the semi final, because he done absolutley nothing last season for him to warrant the big money contract that he was seemingly looking for, I'm glad we cut our losses on him I also think the half million that we got for him is maybe about right for him based on the season he had and his contract situation being in his last year

09 Jul 2017 19:46:44
Sounds more like you are hoping he does not make the grade. Mckay along with Nico was our most naturally gifted player. Think was a major error of judgement by Pedro to let him go. History now but believe he can cut it in england although he will find Forrest a tough gig. Believe the boy was badly advised.

09 Jul 2017 20:13:57
If mckay can't give all in old firm derby what chance has he got way forrest against derby county the boy no heart he will get found out down there

09 Jul 2017 20:38:41
Kfraser - are you trying to tell me that Bud Johnston never got stuck into a 50/ 50 tackle - if you areyou seriously need to stop whatever your on!

09 Jul 2017 23:21:42
Far from it FD I don't want him to fail I just think he won't make it down there in that league because in my opinion he just isn't strong enough mentally or physically, he won't get away with playing the way he played for us last season in the English championship time will tell right enough

10 Jul 2017 10:56:55
Reminds me of time Bud Johnston stamped on John McMaster's head in match against Aberdeen requiring McMaster to receive the kiss of life. Johnston's reaction "I thought it was Willie Miller".
