Al keep this short play our strongest team possible on thursday. U wouldn't hear teams say rest ronaldo or messi incase they get injured. I know our players ain't on tht level but our main players are important to our team as they are to theirs. This tournament has the whole of europe watching so apart from winning the group giving us extra income it can also improve the valuation of our players. N thts not even mentioning scotlands co-efficient and possibly an easier tie in the next round. in gerrard we trust.

Agree Broxxi, we have a strong enough squad to be able to safely rotate a few players who have proven they can come in and do a job. Seen a few say they would take a "glamour tie" in the last 32 which could include the likes of Man Utd or perhaps after tonight even Real Madrid, and whilst that is appealing for me let's top the group and try and navigate a better tie to progress. No point in having glamour ties if we can't get in to see them.

Just one point, yes you would hear of Barcelona or juve resting Messi or Renaldo, against lesser teams or when they’ve qualified, I could just imagine Messi out for years after playing in a meaningless game against the cup winners of Melgravia, but anyway I personally would rest a few and try something different, that’s just me and I’m sure my stalker and a few others will have a different view.

I’m sure roofe suspended tomorrow so will get a rest helander not travelled nor Jack so we r limited on defensive cover, I’d play Paterson.

Manager said he hopes to have helander Jack available for Sunday. Add roofe, Defoe, kamara plenty rested.

Well if Stevie makes changes tomorrow, it will look as if I and a couple of other people are quite correct in saying changes should be made, if he doesn’t then he has decided we are wrong, personally I think it’s simply a no brainer to rest a couple of players, and I think Steve will think that too

I was talking about the guys who were on about playing the same 11 every game, to me a ridiculous thing to say at this stage, having qualified, entering winter and having a good lead to protect in the league, we pay good money for players to step up and we need most of them ready for future games, and if this isn’t the opportunity for different things then a League game certainly isn’t.

I can't believe some posters stating we shouldn't be fielding our strongest 11 in Poland and that we need to keep our powder dry for the Dundee United match come Sunday. There's a massive cash incentive finishing top of the group and we might face a weaker team in the next draw. We've got a powerful bench to thump the United lot.

Kfraser the biggest incentive for rangers is league title. I would rather be out of Europe and able to concentrate solely on league just like celtic will do. They won't have any possibility of main players getting crocked from now on unlike us. There are some hard matches coming up for us in Europe.

Have to say I would be tempted to rest one or two. I think we have already achieved our target of qualification that the board and management set out and in all honesty the league is the priority. Pretty sure they get an extra slot, was this not done afywr Liverpool won the CL and didn't qualify thru the league, then they campaigned to get winners auto qualified to defend the trophy?

{Ed001's Note - no, the winners always automatically qualified for the group stages, but the English FA decided to force UEFA to give an extra slot to England by putting forward Everton (who had finished 4th) as the 4th entrants from England and Liverpool were to be in it as the champions. When it had happened previously with Real Madrid, the Spanish FA had just dropped out the 4th placed team, but the English FA is too arrogant to compromise. Instead of entering at the group stages, UEFA made Liverpool enter through the qualifiers. The rules were then changed to fix it at a maximum of 4 places per country.

It has changed again since about 2 or 3 seasons ago to appease the clubs looking at starting a European superleague to the way it is now with the winners of the Europa League gaining their country an extra place in the Champions League. It was much more recently than the episode you are thinking off in 2005.}

I was thinking more along the lines of players like kent John, I know he gets taken off when we are winning comfortably for a rest. We lose someone like a key player like kent to injury and it could have a huge impact on us. You are right though the cash is a huge bonus to us and much needed. I would play a stronger team v st mirren because we need to beat them to qualify. We don't need to beat lech but as you said the money is an incentive. Like everyone else I want to win every game. Maybe just a bit worried about injuries taking the wind out our sails🤷‍♂️👍.

John, Kent Kamara Davis Arfield Barasic Goldson Tav McGregor fredo are our best players. The other CB and RF position is where others are likely to come in, although Roofe is starting to make that his own. Helander or Balogun and that is our best and strongest eleven👍.

6couties have to disagree with you mate, one last European game tomorrow night until February I think and from what I gather what the gaffer has been doing thus far seems to have been working just fine, so why change a winning mentality by making too many changes and potentially coming away from Poland without a positive result which could have an effect on the team going forward? This season is huge for us domestically, but we are in good enough shape just now where we can go into each game with a strong XI and look to win.

its not just the extra money gives being the top of the group but the chance of getting at least 4 games rather than 2. (i know there is no guarantees) but let's take the easiest route possible rather than making it more difficult. Plus the more coefficient points we get the better since the Dhims aren't going to help our cause much.

So you aren't resting key players, all you doing is tweaking the team for individual matches which has happened all season so far.
What's so difficult to understand?
Now if you replace all 9 of the "key" players then that is obviously weakening the team.
Hope that's cleared it up for someone who said that the Cup Final against Celtic last season wasn't important and that we should play a weakened side. 👍👀.
