Never liked Barton but warbs has made an arse of it from the off this season. Signed too many risky players and has put his trust in players who are simply not capable of playing consistently at this level. I didn't expect us to beat the Celtic team this year but I did expect us to pass the ball well and penetrate the other teams. Should have signed 4 good quality players through the spine of the team instead signed a host of players of which most hardly get a sniff most weeks. Players ain't comfortable with the system and there are no signs of improvement for me. I find it hard to back a manager who persists with players like kiernan and foderingham when there are better players than them on our bench. I think warbs may have lost my vote for this reason mainly.

09 Nov 2016 07:40:52
we lost more than 4 players so how could we only possibly sign 4 considering our squad was already too small.

08 Nov 2016 22:32:23
By the time Barton leaves he will have been paid about £100grand per game he has played for our Club. Could have got Lampard in for less!

08 Nov 2016 21:40:08
Mischief newspapers - bookies quoting Aberdeen and Hearts as destinations for Barton - worst scenario he would do a job for both clubs and hurt Rangers?

Bl. dly hope not!

08 Nov 2016 22:36:04
daily records full of shite.

08 Nov 2016 23:34:24
Maybe he's trying to get into Scott browns league again!

08 Nov 2016 20:28:35
Well, good riddance Joey Barton
Wasted to much time, money and effort to get this oxygen robbing mouth piece.

08 Nov 2016 20:19:30
starting to think maybe Barton manipulated this from the very start just to get cash and make a fool of us. Anyone else thinking along these lines?

08 Nov 2016 20:49:06
That sounds to clever for this man wee bill.

08 Nov 2016 21:13:43
Rfbob, no matter what is written or said about him he IS and always was a big Celtic fan and i wouldn't put anything past him or his devios mind.

08 Nov 2016 21:42:12
Haha so now he is a Celtic fan eh! God a never seen that one coming! Lol. that him back to Joseph Anthony Barton again! Haha.

09 Nov 2016 00:33:37
Nah I think it's well documented that he's an Everton fan. No interest in Celtic I hear. To be honest I don't think MW wanted him in the first place. He will never fit into a 4 3 3 system (Burnley played 4 4 2 last season when he was exceptional) and MW will not entertain a change of formation so seems strange to me that he was signed in the first place. I never wanted him and was vocal in my condemnation of him when early links were made to us. However when he signed I was willing to give him the benefit of the doubt. Now I'm glad this disastrous episode is drawing to a close as I think it is having a detrimental affect on the whole club. Watching the game against County was really frustrating and I just couldn't shake the nagging feeling that some of the players didn't seem to be trying a leg. Maybe there are some players there who sympathise with Barton and have fallen out with other team mates like Halliday who obviously had a big problem with him. I hope that when he goes it is with a whimper and not a bang as I fear he might want to try and unsettle the club with a parting salvo. Please just puss off Joey and leave our great club alone.
Going back to the County game how many of you guys noticed how many times Tavernier hit the opposition defenders on the arse while trying to cross the ball into the box. I nearly blew a gasket watching it! Do modern players never practice trying to shift the ball a foot to one side to try and whip the ball around defenders? Or feign a cross and cut on to the other foot. Players need to check out old footage of Beckham. How many times did his crosses not find their target? He had no pace to beat a defender. He didn't need to. All he did was practice, practice, practice. A famous line uttered by golfer Gary Player when asked by a smart mouthed reporter if he felt he was lucky to be able to get his ball so close to the hole time and time again out of bunkers. "Yeah, the more I practice the luckier I get' was the wee man's reply. Take note Tav.

08 Nov 2016 19:49:53
Joey tweet tweet is gone. wish it had worked out but now glad he's gone and the saga is over.
Now use the cash to bring in Knox from Livi and get this kid fighting for a jersey. Get back to bringing in younger players who can be developed with no Ego's.

08 Nov 2016 20:24:39
All that is needed now is a manager who can develop them.

08 Nov 2016 20:48:39
what cash?

bartons contract will be paid up to 75%.

{Ed039's Note - 2 months wages, you are wrong - please see my reply to your other ridiculous post)

09 Nov 2016 06:37:54
That's what you get kaney ed. Don't be too tough on him.

08 Nov 2016 19:42:49
Just when you think we are becoming more stable off the park, another thing bites us on the backside. What a mess, honestly . Far too many of the signings we have made have been piss poor and are clearly not good enough for rangers.

08 Nov 2016 18:00:59
Barton signed of with stress? what's this guy got to be stressed about? Picking up £25k a week for nothing seems like a good gig to me. He is simply trying to force us to pay him off. As a matter of principle we can't do this. We need to try and flog this idiot in January.

{Ed039's Note - Hopefully he is in the same boat as the rest of us and gets £60 odd quid a week sick pay when he hands in a sick line then)

08 Nov 2016 18:25:45
I would imagine he will get company sick pay.

08 Nov 2016 18:30:00
If u were treated the way he has been you'd be off with stress. Not allowed to park in car park basically a glorified babysitter. Whether u like Barton or not it's clear he's not been treated fairly and rangers are trying to force him out. he's entitled to put a sick line in n if rangers don't handle this properly he may be trying to build a constructive dismissal case.

08 Nov 2016 18:37:16
He is a Kant. We all know what that means but might not get through the Ed's!
Fair play Ed if it does. No harm meant.

08 Nov 2016 18:53:38
Grow a pair bigblue - as p&b said Barton is, a kant - he kant tackle, he kant pass.

08 Nov 2016 19:03:05
A fit and motivated barton is a better midfielder than haliday and holt put together. The club have come out of this very badly.

08 Nov 2016 19:58:39
Wasn't he supposed to be fit and motivated at the start of the season? . Next excuse for the Barton fluffies.

08 Nov 2016 19:51:34
Hes off, agreement been agreed by both parties.

08 Nov 2016 17:16:37
Think it's terrible the way the rangers are treating the young bhoy Barton been signed off with stress deary me.

08 Nov 2016 16:11:48
Just read that Barton has been signed off with stress, that's one way to get out of training with the youth team.

08 Nov 2016 18:07:46
Think it was humiliating for him to be told to train with the youths. No need for the club to be so petty.

08 Nov 2016 18:56:43
Whatever Rangers or the manager does you can bet that Biffo will always, find a negative. are you related to Rev i'm Jolly by chance.

08 Nov 2016 19:40:37
afcw191

Oh your so funny mate what an original thing to say. Well maybe 30 years ago. What's negative about saying the treatment of Barton is petty? 2 months suspended then told to train with youths and denied a car parking space. That's very petty.

08 Nov 2016 21:18:42
Afcw191, massively agree with you.

08 Nov 2016 21:32:45
Biffo is one of the best posters on here as he don't see everything through blue specs.

08 Nov 2016 22:18:27
Let's just be happy this long running debacle is over. In my opinion Barton deserved the treatment he received. He's an arse who thought he could come to our Club for an easy ride and easy money. Getting shot of him could have been a lot more expensive so move on, get over it and put this whole farce behind us. There were faults on both sides. Issues could have been handled a lot better but now is time to draw a line under it. There's more to worry about like trying to get a decent run of results and performances we've not seen in a long time.

09 Nov 2016 00:37:32
Completely agree gon4 55. Great post.

08 Nov 2016 15:58:09
Can fans explain why they want MW out the door before he's even had 6 months in the Scottish top flight?

Is it just so the formation gets changed from 4-3-3 to your personal favoured formation?

Would be an absolute ridiculous reason to give someone the boot. "He doesn't know how to change a game", "Doesn't make the right subs", "Too stubborn to change". Can understand these issues but is it enough to run the guy out the door considering its the most one sided the Scottish league has ever been whilst we've been in the top flight.

It's frustrating to draw to ST J at home and draw with RC away and the performances in both weren't of a great standard. It's our first season back and considering an entire first choice midfield has been injured or otherwise, maybe the fans and the club's goals should be reassessed.

Fans who say "What's he done to deserve the backing". Seriously?

They should look beyond their own stubbornness and think about that for themselves. It's in the club's best interest to keep the best man for the job.

08 Nov 2016 16:22:01
What has he done? Serious question.

08 Nov 2016 17:21:31
How can you say he's the best man for the job? His record since semi last year is appaling! Were lucky hibs blew up as we stumbled over finish line, chucked away a cup final because we can't defend set pieces, we've made our worst start to a season in 30 odd year! His signings have been terrible or what's not required I. e too many midfielders when a blind man could see we needed 2 good cb and a quick prolific striker which we would have got for garner transfer fee. What in your opinion qualifies him as best man for job?

08 Nov 2016 17:59:10
His record is terrible he has the biggest budget outside them but his signings have been terrible the football is boring to watch the ball goes backwards sideways anyway but forward his system doesn't work team now press us high up the park and we can't deal with it trying to play it out from the back we give away possession and are under pressure we have a lot of possession but do nothing with it the RC keeper had not one save to make in the second half on Sun but we could have lost a couple in last ten mins so Thom 76 if you think he is the man you can't be watching the same game as me.

08 Nov 2016 18:10:57
As someone previously said what has he actually done? Won a 2nd rate league with a budget that dwarfed everyone else in the league, There was a bigger budget difference between us and the rest of the league than there is between us and Celtic and they are miles ahead of us already.

08 Nov 2016 18:34:51
That's the thing Biffo, it was a genuine question from me. The continued response to those Rangers fans questioning him is 'how well he has done', or 'how much he has achieved before now'. I genuinely don't know what it is they are referring to.

I see that whilst two people disagree with the question, they have no actual retort. That speaks volumes.

08 Nov 2016 18:43:47
See we're back on our regular tack of Warburton bashing on every available post, eh Biffo. Nobody is saying you're not entitled to your opinion but I for one am still waiting for an answer to my question of last night. If he is not the answer, who realistically is and why? Whoever it is will likely have little money for new players given we will be paying Barton off and would have to pay MW and probably big Davie if they were sacked. So whoever it is would be working with the same group of under performing, inconsistent players. So still like to hear your alternative, Biffo.

08 Nov 2016 18:56:11
But also Liverpool ger, none of you will answer. What in your opinion makes you think he is the right man? Considering all results up to now? I answered why I think he is not the right man, now I'd like to know from you why u think he is the man to take us forward?

08 Nov 2016 19:45:08
He's not just the right man to take us forward, he's the only man.

Folk arguing he shouldn't get more time are the exact folk greeting there eyes out when there were rumblings at the start of pre season he might be for the off, because of what happened after the cup final.

He's should stay at the club for the foreseeable future because he's built a competitive squad from scratch, won us a seriously competitive championship, got us to a cup final, beaten the top team in the country in a SF, added a decent blend of youth and experience, has been ambitious in the signings he's made and because it's only been 12 games in. Most would have been delighted with second at the start of the season and we are one point off of that position just now.

Some fans have to grow up.

08 Nov 2016 19:46:05
Liverpool Ger argument is all about who else could we get. That speaks volumes for the job he is doing he can't come on and say he has done this or that but rather he wants him to stay in the job as there are no alternatives. The results and performances are terrible, Warburton has failed to get 2 decent centre halves and we keep losing the same goals. The players aren't fit enough with some namely McKay and Waghorn looking uninterested and contributing next to nothing.

08 Nov 2016 20:20:34
Thorn76

Who were the people who were greeting their eyes out as you put it when they thought he might be away in the summer? As for being competitive yeah they are against the Ross Counties and Kilmarnocks however given the budget at his disposal I would expect better. Won a seriously competitive league lol. We won a 2nd rate league. Kilmarnock who were woeful last year brushed aside Falkirk comfortably in the play offs.

08 Nov 2016 20:24:00
Big blue ayr, if you've read my recent posts I don't know if he is the right man in the long term but am willing to give him the season to try and prove it. Yet again thoughI'll say if he isn't how the club deals with the fall-out of his sacking (financially) is a real factor and I note neither you nor Biffo have come up with any realistic, viable alternative who would do any better. If you can't I would say you're stuck with MW and like me hoping and praying that he will defy your expectations and manage us through to a reasonable 2nd place at the end of the season even if that doesn't seem that likely right now.

08 Nov 2016 20:41:15
So what people are saying then is, this is just a statistics game and because we have a bigger wage budget and transfer budget, "dwarfs anyone else in the league apart from Celtic", we should be beating every team in the league by fours and fives because our budget is four and five times theres.

Really? We had a torrid time getting back to the top league. We have a manager every single Rangers fan to a man last season, claimed him to be the next big thing, England manager in the future, every job linked with down south and so on.

The teams in this league may not have our budget but what they do have is experience of this league. None of our regular 11 at season start, apart from Miller and Wallace even played in this league before.

As for who was greeting there eyes out. Believe me, had MW left at the start of the season, Gers fans wouldn't have known what to do with themselves and thought the club had made a huge mistake in letting him go. What a difference a day makes eh?

08 Nov 2016 20:46:03
Saying that the Championship wasn't competitive is just bizzare.

Hibs won the Scottish Cup Final and finished third in the championship.

08 Nov 2016 22:27:52
Thorn76

The league also contained Alloa, Dumbarton, Livingston, Cowdenbeath and Morton hardly the cream of Scottish football. Any team can reach a cup final seem to remember Millwall getting there a few years ago. To try and say the 2nd tier of Scottish football is competitive is laughable. The top league in Scotland is considered a back water so the 2nd tier is even worse.

09 Nov 2016 01:30:34
The cup final, and beating Celtic in the semi-final, has been massively blown out of proportion.

For example, Celtic were beaten in the league cup semi-final that same year by Ross County.

The only difference is they went on to win their final against Hibs.

09 Nov 2016 18:12:14
Well common bigblue ayr, let's have it, who's the best man for the rangers manager's job? I'm sick saying this, judge warbs at the end of the season (may), the season doesn't finish in november and never has done. Honestly get a grip and give warbs the full season. Some of our own supporters are really unbelievable! It's going to take time, look where we've been for 4 years!

09 Nov 2016 21:38:25
Liverpool Ger, honestly mate you'd be as well talking to the wall than those 2 (bigblue ayr and biffo) . Negative to describe these 2 is a total understatement! They ask other posters for alternatives ie. what has warbs done but like yourself mate when you ask them who they'd want to be the rangers manager they come up with nowt!

08 Nov 2016 12:06:13
I think it's one step forward and two back sometimes but we need to keep going. I understand frustration as was I on Sunday as it looked a different team from last week but I'm going to keep faith it will come good. Hope he continues with same 11 against Dundee. Consistency will come. King has no cash FACT so will not invest in playing squad with any depth anyway. Look forward to any real financial backing in future.

08 Nov 2016 17:14:55
if king has no cash he has spent plenty along with his fellow directors give the board a break they have worked wonders so far.

08 Nov 2016 17:56:57
No Largebill the Celtic board worked wonders to pull of signing Brendan Rodgers Scott Sinclair Moussa Dembele That's how a board act.

08 Nov 2016 18:17:49
Unfortunately have to agree with dth100 there board has been very proactive since the semi final and have to be commended for getting Dembele who will no doubt be sold for big money. For all people say that Warburton gives youth a chance he hasn't been able to bring in such a player.

08 Nov 2016 20:21:25
Let's be honest Dembele is worth more than the entire starting 11 against Ross County.

08 Nov 2016 22:13:58
@dth100 - the same board who brought in the all singing, all dancing sweeper keeper De Vries who crashed and burned after 2 games? Not everything has worked out.
Too many fair weather fans on this site. We've only had 15 managers in our history ( counting WS twice ) for a reason - we support the team through thick and thin.

08 Nov 2016 08:30:25
Its too early in the season to hit the panick button bears.

I still beleive that when it finaly clicks we will go on a great winning run and pump a few teams on the way.

The project is for a top 3 finish to get european football. Then we can attract better quality players.

King will open the cheque book when we have european football.

08 Nov 2016 09:09:39
who is panicking?

4 years ago if you told me one point of second place ye woulda bit bettys left baw off for that.

we nearly ceased to exist now we are flying high.

08 Nov 2016 10:30:46
I think mw should get till end of season but I see posts that want him sacked but the names that some think would do a better job I don't get. We've had names like macinnis neilson tommy wright what makes people think they would do a better job. Managing gers is on another planet than anything they guys have done . They get cheered off for getting a draw that doesn't happen at ibrox.

08 Nov 2016 11:24:01
I don't get this belief on here about european football solving all kinds of financial aid. what's the likely income from a couple of qualifying ties going to be? because realistically other teams have struggled to get to the group stages and call them pish all you want but we are hardly setting the football world alight. and for those insisting that euro football means a drastic increase in funds Dream on. this journey has a few more years to go and although euro football is a must for our wellbeing it will only be a very small stopgap in the overall scheme of things.

08 Nov 2016 15:11:22
Agree with johnnyG, even reaching the group stages will yield no more than £2m-£3m which does not make much of a dent in the c£5m per annum to run the club. I suppose the main hope is the increase in profile might attract a buyer for the club who has funds to invest.

08 Nov 2016 15:41:05
Jaws, I'm happy to give Warbs the season even though my doubts about him are growing by the week. As for Managing gers is on another planet than anything guys like MacInnes and Neilson have done, well MW's experience as a manager is a couple of years in charge of Brentford, a much smaller club than Aberdeen, where he won nothing.

08 Nov 2016 16:39:10
Naz most people would agree mw done a great job with brentford he took them a game from play off . Macinnis didn't set heather on fire with Bristol city. I can see how fans are frustrated but think it's worth sticking with the guy.

08 Nov 2016 18:19:57
Naz good point and I would also point out that McInnes played for us and understands the pressures of being with Rangers something that Warburton hasn't.

08 Nov 2016 20:29:59
Jaws

Unfortunately for Warburton the only one that mattered at Brentford didn't think he did a good enough job.
