Barcelona making more history tonight!

09 Mar 2017 01:27:46
By diving and cheating for free kicks and penalties. Unbelievable from some of the best players on the planet. They deserve nothing

09 Mar 2017 06:39:50
RafBob, still got people disagreeing even though history was actually made. Best team in football by a mile.

09 Mar 2017 07:16:39
Bayern will beat them.

09 Mar 2017 07:35:41
aye they could beat them lw, but on their game they are just amazing. that was one of the richest clubs in the world they just beat 6-1

09 Mar 2017 09:10:30
Normally I would be full of admiration for a team that accomplished what they did last night, but not in the manner they did. The way they were throwing themselves to the ground at every opportunity show a complete lack of class and respect. I for one hope they get pumped in the semis.

09 Mar 2017 10:39:46
Ha ha. So a wee dive 93Rd min on Sunday waghorn pen you shall be raging? It's all part of the game now

09 Mar 2017 11:53:50
I would celebrate in the heat of the moment and then once the dust settled and I wiped lager off the ceiling I would quietly utter some mumblings of discontent under my breath. Haha

Seriously though, you're missing the point. They are the best team in the world. They are supposed to be a shining example of how the game should be played, yet they resort to conning the ref for large parts of the game. It's disappointing.

Maybe I'm just bitter because I talked myself out of putting £10 on a Barcelona to qualify and Dortmund -2 double! Haha

09 Mar 2017 13:07:20
Agreed gram was never a foul on Suarez for the pen. When you want to watch a quality game between two top teams leave Barcelona out of it. So frustrating watching them fling themselves to the ground constantly and harrassing refs.

09 Mar 2017 13:17:57
I can't stand Barcelona or psg but Barcelona were on fire last night but when you can spend 100s of millions on player and still dive and cheat what do you expect. Will never forget their game against Chelsea years ago when they cheated and the referee never refereed a game after it.

09 Mar 2017 13:30:00
Everything that is bad in the game regards on-field cheating was on display last night. Disgusting.

08 Mar 2017 21:16:54
I can understand people who want to see a clear sense of direction from the board, appointing a manager etc.

However, on the manager; what is the rush? If we signed a guy tomorrow and he failed then people will be shouting about rushing into it and making poor decisions.

What is the saying about pleasing all of the people some of the time?

I am personally happy to see the team winning with Murty, (although I thought he couldn't cut it) he seems to be able to get a positive response from certain players.

It's just my opinion and I respect those who just want a name now because part of me also wants that, I just wouldn't want the wrong name again.

08 Mar 2017 23:27:20
I think the difference nowadays is that our Club are having to work harder to attract the calibre of manager the fans expect and are used to having. You would never have imagined in the past someone would turn us down in favour of Southampton for example. The board haven't exactly been shouting from the rooftops. I think they are being a bit more coy, ensuring that whatever decisions are made are the right ones. At least I hope that is the case.

09 Mar 2017 03:10:30
Really pleased with job Murty doing in the short term and at first thought give him the season, but if we do qualify for Europe new manager would only have a few weeks to sort squad. Don't want a knee-jerk appointment but need someone in soon to assess the squad and begin to prepare for next season now.

08 Mar 2017 18:52:42
Ally mccoist makes a very valid point in the record by saying what rangers need more than anything is a club well run and well funded and getting a director of football is not going to take these problems away
no point us bringing director of football in if we don't give them money to spend
After hearing about us being intrested in berra mccoist may have a valid point as yet again berra would be another freebie we don't even have a manager but yet we are still wanting another free player our squad needs serious investment not freebies i feel this is reall reason wilson never came cause he wouldn't have big enough budget and mitchell will be the same

08 Mar 2017 18:56:55
I couldn't care less what HE thinks he's went right down in my opinion with his actions towards the end of his tenior

08 Mar 2017 19:31:05
Blueshaun

Well said mate

08 Mar 2017 20:13:41
Mccoist only done what anyman would do if they have a family to support when he was put on gardening leave and maybe the reason he didn't back king is because he doesn't think king has held up his end of the bargain to invest like he promised there is both sides to the story

08 Mar 2017 21:15:03
He wasn't shy lifting his wages while on gardening leave though was he the amount of money that club has given him in his life a can't believe the hard neck of the man. doesn't take a rocket scientist to tell you there was a back hander from green and co while the sh""t was hitting the fan!

08 Mar 2017 23:07:57
Craig8688

I think Mr McCoist had already made plenty of money from Rangers and all his Tv work. Not as if he was on minimum wage and struggling

09 Mar 2017 00:28:19
how do you know a new manager will want berra?

09 Mar 2017 02:56:52
A think you's are been a bit harsh on coisty I doesn't matter if u have £1 or 1m in the bank if u where put on gardening leave u would still be looking for your wage yes coisty took the rains at a bad time not just because he was a bad manager because he loves rangers and he tryed his god dam best for the club when u think of the mess the club was in coisty will never manage a club again he nows he's not manager material so troops don't have a grudge on the man and just remember him for the player he was
SUPER ALLY

09 Mar 2017 03:36:24
Coist affected by running the office and marketing as well as team in dark days. Nothing unusual here.

09 Mar 2017 06:56:30
Strange timing for McCoists comments just after Ashely's. McCoist was an overpaid waste of space as manager and is just another one of the rats like Ashley and his/ her cronies that took as much as they could out of the club without giving anything back!

09 Mar 2017 07:18:23
Here here TOMUSA

09 Mar 2017 09:51:04
Got to admit it is strange timeing but the points he makes about funding are very valid and this is something this board are going to have to address this summer no point bringing new manager new director of football to scout and a buy players if your not going to fund this with serious investment in scouting network and transfer fees for players if this does not happen and we are this amount of points behind celtic again next season then you can be sure there will be massaive pressure on the board from the fans

09 Mar 2017 10:55:46
Who cares what the money grabbing worst ever managers and Pal if Green and Co thinks. He will never work in football again. His photos should be removed frim Ibrox. His legend status died when he told us he didn't know his salary or the plsyers salaries and all the other lies. £850k to manage in tier 4 plus 3million shares. Aye right

09 Mar 2017 11:54:47
Like McCoist or not this DOF is nonsense. Rangers have no money zero or almost zero transfer funds. New manager on £800k so DOF on £1m. So combined £1.8m then Rangers will be lucky to give them £2mill to spend on new players. What can the DOF do with that? So why go down the DOF route? It works in clubs actively buying and selling players usually supporting a quality manager. that's not Rangers. Mccoist is right. Stupid idea.

09 Mar 2017 12:27:40
If a man is employed to do a job then he deserves his wages. What makes this situation any different? You think you're special, you're far from it apart from being delusional.

09 Mar 2017 13:20:03
Ally mccoist said people who think the director of football is going to sort out our problems is garbage not that the idea of one is garbage and he is right.

We have no income, no manager and a board who aren't likely to give us enough money to match Celtic.

Anybody who actually has a go at mccoist and calls him names is an absolute disgrace, one of the many amongst our support unfortunately.

09 Mar 2017 16:29:38
Behave cee and take the blue tinted glasses off the man drained the club as much as the rest of the **** he associated himself with that took there pound of flesh the whipping the fans up to buy season tickets with green hanging off his arse with the promise of a bung at the end of it all pfffft stinking a blind man could see it! And as for being a ledgend haha probably one of the luckiest footballers ever having played in a side with that much quality ma granny could have scored goals in. souness had him sussed!

08 Mar 2017 18:24:59
I Don't understand people Who send in there CV, s for a new job then turn it down when given to them on a plate.

08 Mar 2017 19:16:46
Maybe after finding out what 100% assurances the person has for the job eg How much money are you guaranteeing he gets for new players how much money he will get for a wage how much interference will he get from other people (the board) all things like that they don't know until they have a meeting to find that out

08 Mar 2017 19:21:43
Who do you know sent in a CV?

08 Mar 2017 19:33:40
Big B
Think about it you apply for a job thinking this is for me, you get an interview explaining what your going to be asked to do and what your cash flow is, you then compare it to what you have, old saying Big B ( The grass is always greener on the other side ) but we all know that's not the case with our team!

08 Mar 2017 17:38:28
This recruitment process is nothing short of a fecking joke. we will have a manger this day, that day, next week what's going on. the record seem certain pedro will be the new manger but I've not seen any quotes from him, his club, his agent or even us regarding him and offering him a platform to the EPL after king slated warbs for it. and the DOF should have a say who the new manager is for obvious reasons we haven't even got one of them yet. rangers are making a complete and total utter arse of this.4 weeks ago there was a "plan" well what exactly is it getting more embarrassing by the day

08 Mar 2017 19:03:13
There were no CV, so, interviews or new Manager. Just King and Co leading you guys down the garden path.

08 Mar 2017 17:07:58
Just listened too ally mcCoist on spn and he was bang on by saying it's not a d o f we need it's big investment into the club

08 Mar 2017 17:17:29
Maybe if he had promoted youth when we had the chance instead of signing SPL rejects we would be in a better situation.

08 Mar 2017 18:02:52
If I was macoist I would be lying low not giving opinions on a club he made an utter mess off.

08 Mar 2017 18:26:42
We wouldn't need big investment if he didn't take the wages he did or sign cannon fodder and give them wages of players much better than them, the guy should shut his mouth if he had his way the one guy we could actually make some decent cash from would have be sold to raith rovers or morton. McCoist should become an agent I'm sure players would be queuing up to work with the guy who got Jon daily £5k a week, who can forget the money lee mcculloch was on and even just giving a contract regardless of wages to Kevin kyle was madness. Players if you could class them as that must have thought he was santa claus

08 Mar 2017 18:31:35
Maybe if he had voted at the last agm there would be investment in the club through a share issue.

08 Mar 2017 18:52:26
I find it such a shame that a former TRUE BLUE HERO like ALLY has turned into a total ****er with not a good word to say about the club, he should remember the wages he took while assembling a load of garbage players in his teams at astronomical wages and then walking away to gardening leave with his hefty pay packet, his inability to do the right thing with the vote to support the board at the AGM to my mind was disgusting and here he is saying the club needs investment, he should away and crawl back under the rock in his GARDEN where he now belongs, maybe his pals GREENE and WHYTE will be there waiting for him

08 Mar 2017 23:20:34
This coming from a guy who helped block any chances of attracting outside investment, most likely to protect his almost free preferential shares. Stick to the tv ads Mr McCoist

08 Mar 2017 23:22:16
I don't understand Ally we had a vote at shareholders meeting for the board to allow chosen shareholders ( not Ashley or Easdales) to buy more shares which would have ment investment into the club this would have weakened the grip those lot have on our club and helped the team the vote failed by just under 1% now Ally failed to vote his shareholding would have seen the resolution carried so instead of doing the talking he should have done the voting and helped the club he says he loves!

08 Mar 2017 23:43:25
Promoted youth then what we didn't have a decent youth system so your saying mccoist should have played wee boys for years, single fish. Mccoist is spot on he knows the crack cause he was there at our worst.

08 Mar 2017 23:48:54
Naw we wouldn't we'd still be playing part time teams in the 2nd division

08 Mar 2017 23:51:59
How can he say 'don't blame me for res11 failing' then go on to say we need big investment though? The resolution was going to produce the big investment he's calling for. Starting to think he's on ashley's payroll too, soundbites were awfully similar to the rubbish lambias spouted last week. If there's money in it for him.

08 Mar 2017 23:48:02
King promised investment from his own pocket not through more diluted share issues.

08 Mar 2017 15:06:13
I know a lot of fans are not happy about the imminent arrival of Pedro but can things get any worse for a club like ours? He could turn out to be a real coup for us and he can't really be judged until the midway point of next season after he has had time to put his own stamp on the team . The one thing that does annoy me tho is with me living in England i'm already hearing from supporters of "big" clubs down here stating that he will be using us as a stepping stone towards the self proclaimed best league in the world, I know this could be and probably is true, but I find it laughable the fact a lot of people down here think we r a small club in a small league, how many if the clubs in England would still be getting gates of 49,000 if they were dumped into league 2 . I suppose what I'm tryin to say is that there is enough crap going on in and around the club without people jumping on the boards and the new managers back, this club is huge with the best supporters in the world, so let's welcome Pedro and show him that yes he has took on a BIG job but it's one that he has with the backing of every single blue nose out there and I'm sure he will be a success, . Ps as the Fernando Ricksen tribute match is bein played in my home town I will be attending but was wondering if anyone knew if the new Fernando shirts from lion brand are only available from the website or there will be some on sale outside the ground on march the 25th?

08 Mar 2017 15:30:04
I'm a tad concerned as he is an all out attacking kind of manager. Hope he knows how to set up a defence too.

08 Mar 2017 16:18:43
Yogi, the guy likes to play a counter attacking game. that to me suggests he can set up his team to defend.

08 Mar 2017 17:16:31
Well said Fleetwoodbear, can't believe the criticism on hear of the manager and he's not even hear yet

08 Mar 2017 23:52:39
That's been what we have lacked, the counter, we are much better and more dangerous when playing this way.

08 Mar 2017 13:49:08
I posted last week about about southamptons DOF and how he rejected
It I got shot down, do you all believe me now? .

08 Mar 2017 15:15:49
congratulations on winning your 50/ 50 shot

08 Mar 2017 13:32:14
Would have liked to have seen us go for Georgi Dermendzhiev. Done really well with Ludogorets, has a 60% win ratio and won the league twice over in his two year tenure at the club, in a league similar to Scotland, if not probably better quality. Biggest signing was also only £500k.

Watched them in Champions League a few times and looked pretty solid defensively and very quick and flowing in attack. And managed to give teams like Arsenal/ Real/ PSG/ Basel a good run.

On another note. Don't know if anyone else read the article on twitter from an ESPN journalist discussing Pedro Caixinha. Spoke highly of him. His footballing philosophy on paper and from a sports journo's perspective doesn't sound too shabby if he can't implement it.

From what I have read, he's not overly concerned with possession. He uses pacey wingers and likes to hit on the counter, whilst being defensively organised (which we haven't been) . All sounds well and good, just putting it into practice.

08 Mar 2017 12:17:20
The boy from spurs is on gardening leave hope that is npt a sign of things to come if he comes here.

08 Mar 2017 11:55:11
I see Mark Warburton and the other two are still claiming they did not resign.

Personally I don't think their union would be prepared to go to court if we had written proof they did resign.

It is a fact that a verbal conversation by their agent regardless of how many witnesses were present is NOT legally binding.

I do hope our board of directors end this soonest as it could cost a lot of cash we do not have if they have no proof of these resignations.

08 Mar 2017 12:49:39
if they didn't sign anything they wouldn't go off and find a new place of work, your lawyer would advise you not too.

08 Mar 2017 13:11:09
I think it's pretty telling that McPartland is in at Forest. There is no smoke without fire. Warburton is trying to rebuild his credibility on the back of this as he never expected it to get out. He's all about respect mind, but that's obviously only the public face. The curtain slipped and he's been seen for what he is. Davie Weir is obviously just a daftie that's easily lead.

I honestly cannot see the club having gone to these lengths unless they were confident that they were in the right. They would/ should have consulted their HR department or employment lawyer prior to accepting these resignations. They wouldn't construct such a detailed fallacy to get them out. Far too many coincidences. MW and DW will be at Forest as of the end of the season to join McPartland. Hopefully they will want to buy some of the dross the brought to us.

08 Mar 2017 14:22:12
Think wier has already gone to villa as something to do with the youth set

08 Mar 2017 14:22:23
Verbal ARE admissable in Scotland

08 Mar 2017 16:16:02
Weir's only in a temporary position until the end of the season. He's helping a former coach he knows from Everton out at Villa.

08 Mar 2017 23:19:13
Actually a verbal agreement is legal in Scots law.

08 Mar 2017 23:45:46
With regards to MW and DW surely to goodness we did not let them go without notice etc etc as claimed. It is obvious to a blond man with dark glasses they wanted oot.
Glad that we are not getting anyone in before the big game. I think it wiuld ba a big ask to get the team tofether and would have been slaughtered if we lost. The more I hear about Pedro the more I like only prob is how long will he stay.

08 Mar 2017 23:14:34
Woolybunnet: A resignation is when you or your representative formally tell your employer that you are leaving your job. You can resign verbally, but resigning in writing is more formal.
If you have given your resignation as you are required to by your contract, you cannot take it back unless your contract makes this possible or your employer agrees.
If you say you wish to resign, then this may be taken as a resignation. That's the law.

08 Mar 2017 10:58:28
I realise he's probably well out of our league, but Lassana Diarra has recently been released by Marseille. Exactly the type of player we need, probably wasn't on huge wages at Marseille and because he's been released might take a drop in wages to get back playing again. Don't know his situation but was a cracking defensive midfielder a few years ago and has been in France squads recently.

08 Mar 2017 12:50:33
He's off to china, he wasn't released by Marseille for any old reason, he is desperate for a big payday so went on strike.

08 Mar 2017 22:55:51
Fair enough only show. Didn't see anything about him going to China but that makes sense.

08 Mar 2017 10:46:59
Am I only the only one who's glad kiernan won't be playing on Sunday? (unless his red card gets over turned which ain't going to happen) the guy is an absolute bombscare! He's no awareness of where he's suppose to be or where the oppositions players are at any given time. I'd love to see bates given a go but I can't see it unfortunately. So it will Wilson. I also hope tav gets dropped for hodson aswell as he's nearly as hopeless as kiernan when it comes to the defensive side of things anyway.

08 Mar 2017 11:10:21
No DDB I agree. I will get shot down for this and expect lots of comments from other side about 30 points but I don't think there is much between the teams. I would single out Sinclair as a match winner and another reason why we should play hodson. But other than that I think it is less about any gab in ability between the two teams and more to do with belief, confidence and a good coach. Who knows what GM has got the players feeling but I certainly don't think a win is beyond us and at least capable of a decent draw where we give as good as we get.

08 Mar 2017 11:34:02
Total agreement though I do think Wilson's a player when fully fit. Kiernan has an inability to impose himself and the Scottish Cup final summed him up and arguably should have ended his Ibrox career. Bates must have some major improvements to his game needed if he can't make this team. Going by Rodgers comments on Sunday it seems bottom of the Championship St Mirren must have a better back line than us.

08 Mar 2017 12:12:50
Hi Kfraser,

I don't revel in slagging our own team, but you are absolutely right about our back line. In fact just about every other team we play seem to have a better defence than us.

By the way, if Pedro does come to us (which I now doubt) it seems he has much the same playing style as Warbs had, keeping the ball in our own half hoping to attack on the break.

That tactic was a disaster for us with passback howlers and giving the ball away in our own half costing us dearly.

09 Mar 2017 00:27:19
Kiernan is big and quick and knows how to play offside. Clint Hill should take note.

08 Mar 2017 02:27:27
Kernian isn't even a sunday league player. how he gets a game is beyond me, absolute tube.

08 Mar 2017 09:06:51
Who else you going to play in there? Surely can't be Wilson as he is all over the shop

08 Mar 2017 09:14:20
He is the worst player to pull on the jersey. That said, he has shown some signs of improvement recently so I don't think this is the right moment to have a go.

08 Mar 2017 12:54:34
It's utterly amazing how he keeps getting a game. Completely incompetent player who can't do anything. Hopefully the new manager will get rid of this imposter and finally sort out the defence

08 Mar 2017 13:06:49
I'll tell you why big rob kiernan gets a game meek1916, because he's absolutely immense in training and that's coming from one of the youth coaches at MP! I know that he has to bring his training game to the actual match day games but that's the script anyway mate! It is very obviously a psychological thing with kiernan and if he can overcome that then according to our youth coach we have a very good centre half on our hands! He actually said in training kiernan is by far the best centre half we have at rangers!

08 Mar 2017 13:21:21
when he plays against quality players he is found out to be a sunday league spectator rather than a footballer i honestly think he is the worst defender to put on a rangers top ever!

08 Mar 2017 22:38:29
I think Warburton tried to turn him into something he'll never be, but has looked a bit more assured under Murty. Still rotten though.
