Quick question.
If Steven Gerrard walked tomorrow.
(which I hope will never happen) because I believe 100% he will win us the league, if not next season the one after.
The question is who would you replace him with.

09 Jun 2020 04:53:21
Outlander I don’t know. I don’t see a clear cut favourite. I am torn between a more experienced manager that knows the league and is willing to work within the philosophy and
structure that has been created under Gerrard (E. g. Robbie Neilson) or someone that has been working under the current structure such as Lovenkrands or Thomson. This person would continue the good work done by Gerrard and be able to get the best out of the people and resources we have. If money wasn’t an option I would go for Benitez or someone of his stature. assuming he is willing to work within the philosophy and structure of the club.

09 Jun 2020 06:08:37
Gary Rowett.

09 Jun 2020 06:34:05
Outlander, if Gerard doesn't win the league next season then he'll go so the following season isn't an option. We must win the league next season to stop 10. Many of my mates (and I've read the same arguments on here), talk about this "journey" of where we've came from and if they get 10, then so be it.

I can't understand that argument - 10 should not and cannot be allowed to happen. It's my opinion, that some fans have accepted 2nd best now. Whatever our squad is next season will go down in history as either the rangers squad who stopped 10 or the squad who couldn't.

09 Jun 2020 06:50:24
I know one of the coaches very well who works at the rangers training centre and he raves about both kevin thomson and peter lovenkrands! He's said to me before however that he thinks kevin thomson has the makings of being rangers manager one day. Of course that would obviously be dependent on thomo going and doing well managing another club (s) first and proving he'd be up to that task!

As the covenanter was an ex coach what's your own thoughts on this mate? Do you see a possibility of either thomson or lovenkrands being the rangers manager in the future mate? 🤔.

09 Jun 2020 07:42:25
If he doesn't win it next season he will be gone.

09 Jun 2020 08:10:51
If he doesn’t win it next season he has to go.

09 Jun 2020 08:51:22
Eddie Howe would be my choose if he would come up to Scotland . Very much doubt it tho.

09 Jun 2020 11:35:17
Robbie we can’t afford guys like Howe.

08 Jun 2020 19:39:44
Just like to ask how many of you on this site think Dykes, Cosgrove, Ferguson etc will take Rangers to the next level?

I'll start off by saying I think we need to look at a lot better than this caliber of player.

08 Jun 2020 20:11:37
Domestically they may fill in the team and have us a bit more ready for the tougher games where teams sit in or against the hammer throwers however I still wouldn't think that is the level needed to stop celtic.

08 Jun 2020 20:12:22
Of course not.

08 Jun 2020 20:20:51
Stopping Celtic IS beating the teams that sit in and the teams that are hammer throwers, we are already as good as Celtic head to head.

08 Jun 2020 20:36:18
Absolutely they are good enough! We need a core of players who know spl!

Dykes or cosgrove are big boys that can put themselves about! Ferguson is an ian ferguson type player, just what we need!

08 Jun 2020 20:17:31
Those players will win us the runners up prize again.

08 Jun 2020 21:01:19
Can anyone honestly imagine Lyndon Dykes Playing against Bayer Leverkusen?

08 Jun 2020 21:16:06
Another bear you're another one who's just not getting it regarding IF we were to sign lyndon dykes. He wouldn't be our no.1 striker especially for european games. But he would be very useful in the scottish premiership games when things are not going to plan and we need to mix it up a bit. He'd be a good addition to our squad because of this. Why can people just not understand this? 🤔.

08 Jun 2020 21:16:45
We don’t need players like them for Leverkusens etc same way we never needed Kris Boyd for anything other than skelping all the Diddy teams relentlessly.

08 Jun 2020 21:35:53
Dykes has one good game against Celtic.
If he was that good surely he would have consistently turned it on against all the other sides?
Cosgrove's goal ratio is inflated by penalties and his 2nd touch is a tackle!
Ferguson is already racking up red and yellow cards in Dons shirt. I'd hate to see referees treatment of him in a Rangers jersey. Plus he isn't good enough. 👍.

08 Jun 2020 21:36:46
I would have said no initially, then I see re-runs of games where we win a league with guys like Ian Ferguson, bomber brown, hurlock etc. Now I think to battle with teams we’re dropping points to we need to be more physical in certain areas of the pitch. 11 silky players isn’t going to win us the league either. We need a couple of players who can roll their sleeves up and get stuck in, a centre half, defensive mid and a striker. Maybe for certain games where we’ve dropped points in the past, these players might actually be exactly what we need.

08 Jun 2020 22:30:38
Seen all this when lafferty came back that he would mix it up and be good against teams that sit in. It's not target men you need to beat these teams. You need clever players who can find a pass to guys who can make space. Big centre halfs hate playing against pace.

08 Jun 2020 22:53:23
Guys, so the general concensus of opinion here is that Dykes, Ferguson and Cosgrove are not good enough for us in Europe. Tell me then, are the current players good enough for Europe, and, how much money do you really think is available for players. There was also negativity on the signing of young Bassey, and the potential to also get young Fox, I believe that Bassey will be very good for us, he looks an athlete, unlike some of the wimps who pulled on the jersey this season, how many real quality players do Celtic have, I'd say 3, Edourd, McGregor and Forster, the rest are hard players who don't shirk a battle, just my opinion guys.

08 Jun 2020 23:16:22
I would if we can buy the hammer throwers build a team of them just for the season its the only way to play against most of the teams in the league the better players can't seem to be able to break down the defensive teams the bigger guys would bully them into making mistakes a bit like martin Oneil did with pacific shelf might not be pretty but it might give us a chance.

08 Jun 2020 23:48:52
Don’t know if any of you played I played a bit not at a great level but decent . Give me good footballers over be physical players any day I guarantee you the good footballers will come out on top.

09 Jun 2020 07:00:17
Steve Davis didn’t when he got kicked off the park against Aberdeen at ibrox . It finished his season and he was flying before it happened . One reason we lost the league me thinks.

09 Jun 2020 07:02:26
Another Bear, I also played all my life and what you say is true, there is no substitute for skill and ability it always came out on top I saw this throughout my years of playing.

09 Jun 2020 08:18:28
The crux of the matter for me is lyndon dykes would be a good signing for us especially against our bread and butter scottish teams! He's proved against the best two teams, us and them, that he's capable and gave both defences a torrid time. I've been impressed everytime i've seen dykes playing against us.

09 Jun 2020 08:55:22
To say Dykes has only had 1 good game is total nonsense I think he has shown up well in games against is and caused us plenty of problems. As SGL said he wouldn’t be first choice striker but would give us another option and isn’t afraid to get stuck in.

09 Jun 2020 08:57:34
Another bear,

You need a bit of both though especially in Scotland. We have plenty of skilful players in our team but do lack some steel. See nothing wrong with having physical players especially when you play away from home.

09 Jun 2020 09:10:27
I played pro youth with Hamilton then 8 years junior football with vale of leven, I was a centre half and even at those levels I was always asked to play the ball out find a pass.

I was more physical and had pace but wasn’t technical or silky, but I read the game well. The days of lumping ball up from back for rangers are gone so spending money on dykes and cosgrove would b money wasted and they both wouldn’t take us forward.

08 Jun 2020 17:28:10
Fellow fans, what position-positions do we need to improve to win the league. How many players are needed and what positions?

08 Jun 2020 18:34:51
Two solid CBs, a right back that can defend A solid no nonsense centre mid and a striker that can stay on the park so 3 or 4 🙏🙏.

08 Jun 2020 18:44:23
Right wing and a right back.

08 Jun 2020 18:51:04
I think we need at least 5 players

Most of all we need a commanding CB with bags of experience,

A top keeper to fight it out with Mcgregor for the no1 jersey,

A defensive midfield enforcer someone with loads of energy and not scared to fight it out with the big boys.

I also think we should be looking for a target man up front,

And finally a speed machine up front it’s something we’ve been lacking for a while.

08 Jun 2020 19:04:17
1 x back up GK
1 x CB
2 x athletic and powerful midfielders
2 x strikers if Alfie stays. 3 if he goes.

Then we win the league.

Personally I’d like two of these to be Dykes and Ferguson. They know the league and have big potential.

08 Jun 2020 19:36:33
Keeper to bridge the gap between McGregor and McCrorie longer term, a first choice right back backed up by Patterson for a season or two, another CH as I think one of Goldson, Helander Katic will go, we need four first team ready CHs and Edmundson features in my thinking. Kamara out and Davis slowing so maybe one more in there with Docherty, and a first choice number 9. Someone taller and physical as Alfie May stay or go, Defoe will feature and Stewart/ Kamberi who knows. I’d like us to play 2 strikers and have 4 strong options all pushing each other, so if you’re not scoring, someone else comes in. So in summary:

GK
RB
CH
Mid
Striker.

08 Jun 2020 19:48:20
Isn't filip helander a commanding centre half with bags of experience HighlandBear81?🤔.

08 Jun 2020 19:52:56
right winger and speedy striker No matter how many we sign.

08 Jun 2020 20:50:35
Goalkeeper (challenge mcgregor)
2 centre backs (speaks for itself
Right winger (move Hagi behind the central)

08 Jun 2020 21:09:46
SGL I might be wrong but in my opinion no he’s definitely not commanding, and maybe you know better than me but He’s played 8 times for us and I’ve got to be honest I’d never heard of the guy before we signed him, of the times I’ve seen him, I wasn’t overly impressed I’m not saying that he’s no good, but I’ve not seen enough to trust him as our main CB. I don’t rate goldson and katic and Edmondson are both early 20s I’d like to see a 30/ 32 year old that’s won things that won’t be afraid to take charge of that back 4 cause I don’t see anyone doing that.

08 Jun 2020 22:20:13
Blue blue sea you need to go back to school. You said we need 2 x CB, 1 x RB, 1 x Midfield, 1 x Striker, “so 3 or 4”. Let’s do the maths; 2+1+1+1=5 haha.

08 Jun 2020 22:40:58
I think Ross McCrorie is the energetic physical DM we need.

08 Jun 2020 22:56:25
HighlandBear81, I agree, I think he lacks pace, I believe Bassey can play that role also if needed, and from what we're told he has a good engine.

09 Jun 2020 08:20:08
I agree irvger, that helander lacks pace but all his other attributes are good.

08 Jun 2020 17:01:53
Its all good and well signing up these good young players from clubs in england but we must get experienced battle hardened players signed also that can handle the pressure of playing for us! I'm sure gerrard will and must if he's going to have a chance of winning the league and stopping the ANTHILL MOB!

08 Jun 2020 17:23:25
I agree we need to strengthen the spine of our team.
Does that mean we should go for an experienced target man instead of someone like dykes? 🤔.

08 Jun 2020 18:35:00
Guys it’s about budget, spending money wisely,

08 Jun 2020 19:51:47
What's other fellow bears thoughts on saido berahino ie. the one that was superb at west brom, that spurs bid £15million for? He's supposedly getting back to his best over in belgium. If gerrard can get the best out of him and get his head right he's a very talented striker and would be a great signing!

08 Jun 2020 22:58:05
Correct John25, I've just added a post asking that same question about money, we have to be careful at this time.

New image uploaded to the
Rangers Player Sightings page entitled, Can I change my vote?

08 Jun 2020 13:23:22
Having a releationship with one of the top teams in the world being LIVERPOOL is an ace in the hole. OK OJO was a flop but going forward I see some real talent coming to our club on loan and leading to permanent contracts and sell-on benefits The future is good Priority is #55 this coming season for me and stop this ridiculous fake 10 in a row nonsense.

08 Jun 2020 14:05:39
Add in Ejaria.

08 Jun 2020 14:08:46
N add kent.

08 Jun 2020 14:32:45
Sorry DeeCee Stevie G is a Liverpool legend but the club are never going to do us any great favours unless it tsuits them. We will never get their very best available loanees e. g. Ojo, Ejaria not Harry Wilson. Kent was decent on loan but Liverpool played hardball on his transfer and we paid far more than we should have as we were desperate to get him. As long Stevie is manager Liverpool will help us out but only up to a point.

08 Jun 2020 18:52:10
I think we will see the Ryan Kent we all want next season. The boy just needs to forget about his price tag. New season new start.

08 Jun 2020 19:54:02
We'll see the best of the undoubtedly talented ryan kent, if gerrard now he's signed hagi permanently, puts him back in his natural wide left position, where he can isolate and tear apart the opposition right back!

08 Jun 2020 19:55:01
kent needs someone on the opposite wing that produces.

08 Jun 2020 12:54:55
The covenanter here's a question for you as you did a bit of coaching yourself mate. As we were all waxing lyrical about how barry ferguson was as a captain and midfielder, do you think he will ever go on to be a rangers manager in the future? 🤔If he proved to be good enough i would love to see him being rangers manager one day, but not because of how good he was as a player, he'd have to prove he was a good enough manager first and foremost! You can just picture baz prowling about like a wolf in his technical area, barking orders onto the players!

08 Jun 2020 13:23:15
It's difficult to see past the boy through to the mature man, mate. I'm not sure that Barry has the temperament to go that far in management; although he has the knowledge of the game there is so much more required for a role like this. However, he is a lot calmer than before, more rounded in his outlook, but he will still have to take at least two massive steps up (not one down! ) before he would even be in the frame for our job.

08 Jun 2020 14:11:05
What's your take on stephen kelly the covenanter? Does some of his midfield traits not remind you of barry ferguson in some aspects? 🤔.

08 Jun 2020 15:55:13
Not really, mate. Kelly is about 70% behind where Barry was at his age, and sadly I believe he will be one of those many 'nearly' lads (not just from our club) who will go on to have a career at a slightly lower level than Rangers, either up here or down south. I like the boy, I wish him all the luck in the world, but as he is coming to the final year of his contract at the age of 20, I don't think it is going to happen for him.

08 Jun 2020 16:11:47
Agreed. Can see kelly slipping away. Similar to jamie ness and McCabe.

08 Jun 2020 18:35:48
Kelly is a much better player than ness and McCabe.

08 Jun 2020 20:44:52
Why has he not got a run in the side yet then john? Doubt he will play for us or have any sort of run in the side.

08 Jun 2020 21:15:54
Because he went out on loan for a year.

08 Jun 2020 09:52:50
Gerrard after 20yr old striker rhian brewster on loan from liverpool.

08 Jun 2020 12:13:02
He doesn’t seem very prolific.

08 Jun 2020 12:49:11
Another summer another liverpool loanee, I hope he is better than ejaria and ojo🤦‍♂️👍.

08 Jun 2020 12:55:18
Wouldn't be hard totally awful especially ojo must be up there with one of our worst signings.

08 Jun 2020 13:45:57
As much as I agree that ojo didn't work out, we've had much worse signings than him. Mind he was only on loan and for the first 2-3 months did contribute, especially in Europe.

08 Jun 2020 14:37:58
Despite Stevie's presence unless Liverpool think it will help them in developing Brewster there is no way he'll be coming to us.

08 Jun 2020 09:33:02
Thoughts on trying to get another Liverpool youngster Brewster on loan and another Leicester youngster surely, we need hardened professionals I get that the window hasn't opened but they players will still be taking a wage and the money we have should be going to players that have experience not youngsters that haven't played much or any first team games.

08 Jun 2020 10:23:54
Brewster is on a different level compared to, say, ojo.
These hardened professionals you mention, who exactly?

08 Jun 2020 10:36:45
Experienced players who have at least played first team games not inexperienced kids.

08 Jun 2020 10:54:22
I get you but also need to still building for the future. work can't stop in that department and getting these over the line just now isn't such a bad thing.

08 Jun 2020 10:57:34
Brewster was on loan at Swansea last season in the championship.
He's highly regarded down in England and would be a bit of coup to sign him.

08 Jun 2020 11:26:20
Agreed, Brewster would be a really good signing. Can't see Liverpool wanting to send him to the SPL though.

08 Jun 2020 11:38:07
Steven Gerrard would be the attraction.

08 Jun 2020 12:46:30
The attraction? SG, game time, European football.

08 Jun 2020 13:16:12
I think the boy Bassey from Leicester is ready now to play in our first team now guys, he also looks like he has the physique for our league, he has also played in Leicester's 1st team so he's no slouch. As regards these other two boys, I've not heard of them, but, I assume SG knows all about them.

08 Jun 2020 13:40:46
Irvger not played for liecster first team.

08 Jun 2020 23:02:10
Sorry John, you're right mate, I still believe he's ready for the step up with us.

08 Jun 2020 04:49:57
What is the view on Stephen Kelly? Is he ready to be given some game time In the first team?

08 Jun 2020 10:27:06
He has to be or he won’t make it. Barry F and Durranty were keeping experienced pros out of the team at 18 years old and they were clearly the real deal. At 20 years old this year is the year he has to break in to the team or he will struggle to have a career.

08 Jun 2020 10:35:00
I think he should be first team squad next year. Allegedly highly rated by Gerrard and McAllister.

08 Jun 2020 10:58:49
I'd like to think he'd get a chance. What's his best position John?

08 Jun 2020 11:30:53
Some young Players will thrive in the First Team, some will take a while longer and some will sink without trace. Barry Ferguson, Ian Durrant, Ryan Giggs and Wayne rooney managed it but the Lower Divisions in England and Scotland are full of Players who had GREAT POTENTIAL.

08 Jun 2020 11:52:28
Enter mid, can also play left. Excellent passer and can score from outside box.

08 Jun 2020 03:09:49
Strange one Chelsea have triggered the release clause of timo Werner 53M he is regarded as Europe's young elite striker but does not have 150M or so in the clause? for a player like him that cheap why has nobody else sniffed around him.

08 Jun 2020 08:26:57
He probably wouldn't sign a contract with a release fee of £150mil, would decrease his chances of a big move or limit which clubs he could go to. His Agent would have advised against that. 👍.

08 Jun 2020 08:30:24
Liverpool sniffed around werner for ages mate. They were strong favourites to sign him but liverpool at the last minute decided against paying the £53million release clause. Timo Werner wanted to sign for liverpool and were his first choice.

08 Jun 2020 10:20:06
Think there would have been more of a battle and probably Liverpool winning it if CV hadn't happened. Too many unknowns for teams to commit to chucking 50 mill at a player at the moment and deal needed done now as the clause was due to expire, meaning it would have then taken more to get him.

08 Jun 2020 02:26:16
Nathaniel Clyne 29 is not a bad shout that would improve RB 2 year deal for me then take that captain armband off Tavernier them two at RB rotation sounds good.

08 Jun 2020 04:56:56
I like Tav however he is prone to lapses / error. I would like to see Nathan Patterson given more of a chance as well.

08 Jun 2020 08:30:07
Rotation is no use, a player should only be dropped if they are out of form or injured or rested when if knackered or playing a lesser team in a cup. This rotation for the sake of doesn't help build form, consistency or momentum. 👍.

08 Jun 2020 08:33:49
We're about to raid leicester city again for a young right back, who's got a lot of clubs chasing him. He's only 18 years old and his name is gyamfi. Ross wilson has a terrific record at picking up these gems and his contacts and european knowledge of players will be a big plus for us, moving forward.

08 Jun 2020 10:26:42
I actually think rotation might have helped Tav last season. Playing most games didn't seem to improve his performances/ form.

08 Jun 2020 10:47:01
If the armband comes off Tav, it would only be when he leaves. The effect on his morale etc would be pointless still having him about in my opinion.

08 Jun 2020 11:10:41
Didn’t Ross Wilson or Robertson say in a recent interview that most of the signing rumours suggested by the media were wide of the mark.

08 Jun 2020 12:58:05
Tav shouldn't be playing never mind being rotated. 👍.

08 Jun 2020 14:47:16
Oft coldo 🏴󠁧󠁢󠁳󠁣󠁴󠁿🇦🇺⚽️😎👍.

07 Jun 2020 23:17:59
I'm really looking forward to the new castore merchandise. If the pictures on the web are correct then they look fab. I'm sure they will be great quality. I'm sure they'll do polo shirts etc. Exciting times with profits going to Rangers instead of Ashley, what a huge financial difference that'll be.

08 Jun 2020 04:58:56
I bought a Castore hoodie and training top. Both are excellent quality and innovative with design and materials.

08 Jun 2020 09:18:24
Jesus did you just make a positive contribution stuck?

08 Jun 2020 13:11:35
The castore gear looks awesome.
