just saw hydman, as good as he may be this guy looks lighter than jason holt . is it not a guy with a bit of presence we need. like a souness type

08 Jan 2017 21:29:16
Young man will be unveiled tomorrow btw

08 Jan 2017 21:31:19
He's a very physical player also mate

09 Jan 2017 13:04:34
just watched clips of him and he likes to play that long ball over the top but hardly pulls it off.
toral looks the b etter passer of the two

08 Jan 2017 16:25:11
Lampard that's all I'm saying people

08 Jan 2017 18:04:59
Don't see it. Absolutly love Lamport as a player but he offers us nothing at this stage of his career. We're on the verge of securing two loan deals for midfielders and have Halliday, Holt, Windass, Rossiter and Crooks who can all play central. top heavy on midfielders, critical to get a decent quality centre half or two and I think we'll be done for January.

08 Jan 2017 18:50:06
J1985

Windass not really a midfielder crooks
Not good enough rossiter always injured
Holt huffs and puffs but not really good enough
And then Andy am a gers fan Halliday if he was a fan that much he would quit as he ain't good enough to clean boots at ibrox never mind play there

08 Jan 2017 18:54:20
Actually think the van Persie rumour was better if I'm honest than the Berinhino! But if true which I doubt the thought of Berinhino and Hephern-Murphy upfront next year would certainly do me!

08 Jan 2017 19:30:44
Gannet you talk some gumpf

08 Jan 2017 19:46:09
Don't see a defender coming in unless pre contract, the next Jan signing will be a Striker, whether president the Aston Villa lad or whoever.

08 Jan 2017 22:37:36
How can you dismiss Crooks as "not good enough" given we haven't seen anything of him? And as for Windass not being a midfielder. that's where our manager plays him so he obviously sees him as a midfielder. So like I said, with the two new loan signings that takes us to seven central midfielders, hence no need for another especially an ageing player who would demand a hefty wage.

09 Jan 2017 07:13:12
Not disagreeing with you j1985, but just because the management see a player in a certain position doesn't make it so. Our management see Halliday as a defensive mid!

09 Jan 2017 10:01:16
crooks isn't good enough that's why we haven't seen anything of him and gannett how is windass not a midfielder?
holt and halliday are pretty good but would like better quality.

being realistic though rangers are doing better than what I thought they would and we need to give the manager and board time to fix us its a massive project

09 Jan 2017 12:22:09
Doing better than you thought?! You're aspirations are in the gutter man!

If the sheep win their game in hand we are 3rd. Do you think that's good enough given how much bigger our budget is than everyone else except Celtic?

Not to mention we'll likely be 30 odd points behind Celtic!

The management have so many questions to answer. Such as stubbornly persisting with a style that clearly doesn't suit the squad.

Also the recruitment so far has been a monumental waste of precious funds.

No one realisticly thought we'd win the league but we wanted to see the club progressing. So far this season we have gone backwards!

09 Jan 2017 13:19:43
James Stirling I have to disagree regarding Holt and Halliday. I don't believe that they are quite good! They are Championship level players, nothing more, and while Holt might develop into something better right now he is mediocre and Halliday is poor in the role he plays.

09 Jan 2017 13:24:55
forget what the sheep might do we will be second this season and will get some points between us between now and april mark my words.

this team badly struggled at the start of the season and is coming on in form part from the st Johnston game.

celtic where the expected better team in the second half at least and we are all being negative again.

I trust warbs and the board to get second first time of asking.

yes they are doing better than I thought. as we just came up to the top table in our game and its not as good as English league we all know that but it throws up different challenges and takes a bit of getting used to.

I think we will finish second this year and next and then we will seriously challenge but think that might happen next year aswell

08 Jan 2017 15:43:20
Hopefully these signings will hit the ground running and are of a descent quality.

08 Jan 2017 16:27:36
I'd be surprised if the 2 young lads didn't improve are midfield mate. I just don't think halliday are holt are good enough. But we are still missing a scott brown type player who can bully the other team

08 Jan 2017 17:23:25
May get that next season.

08 Jan 2017 17:27:25
Agree with youPieandbovril. Holt and Halliday were good players last season as were certain others. My opinion is they are championship players at best. Unfortunately we are in a position where we cannot afford Premiership type players. I'd also like to ask opinion on Warburtons signing. How many players that he has signed has made the grade? Why, if true are some of his signings going on loan? How many have injuries?

08 Jan 2017 17:48:36
He's been unlucky with injuries this season kranjcar, rossiter crooks and windass have all had problems. Everyone of them signings would improve our team. I think dodoo will prove a good signing. The only bad signing was barton and that was a gamble he had to take. Also hodson is an improvement on tavernier even if mw can't see it.

08 Jan 2017 17:59:23
Agree hooly78, think it's time to cut Dodoo some slack and put him in the team. Only he and Mckay of the current squad have technique and guile to score at a high level consistently.

08 Jan 2017 18:08:32
Dodoo looks like the worst signing of all Warbs. He has sown absolutely nothing for a player who was built up so much.

08 Jan 2017 18:12:05
Pretty excited about this Torel lad, players and fans player of the year at Birmingham last season in a really tough league. Don't know too much about the other lad. Only down side is the deals are 6 months loans. want to see a bit of intent from the board with regards to investment. Look at our rivals across the city and what they've done in the past with the likes of Wanyama and Van Dijk. mon to King and Co!

08 Jan 2017 18:43:53
Can't agree with you cee. He hasn't got the same chances as garner has. Scored 2 against Partick started the next game then was out of team again. While garner has only scored 1 more goal than him. I wouldn't write the lad off yet

08 Jan 2017 19:31:18
I'm not writing him off he's got time but he's been Colin Nish

08 Jan 2017 20:02:54
Joey Barton was fans' player of the year last season in that league and also a league winner and look how that muppet panned out

09 Jan 2017 09:46:51
Cee how you can say dodoo has been pish, for a start he hasn't had the same chance as garner, another thing warburton keeps playing him on the wing, look at the diff when he was through the middle at Partick, he scored 2 and won us the game, just give the boy a game in his right position, then judge him

09 Jan 2017 10:04:02
sitting second and these players are championship quality at best? gor seriously mate what a load of nonsense.
other than celtic we have the best quality in the league son all this downing your/ my team is just ridiculous and doesn't help anyone

09 Jan 2017 10:27:34
Garner has been a poor signing £1.8m for a non scoring striker. It was folly to waste practically all our money on a player who doesn't score much and will have no sell on value

09 Jan 2017 10:42:33
Technique and guile how anyone can put these words and Dodoo together is beyond me. The boy is Brutal and no where near good enough for the first team.

09 Jan 2017 13:29:38
I agree dodo doesn't seem to have it for me, too lightweight and he says he prefers to play on the right wing so

08 Jan 2017 15:12:44
I don't see how a potential try for berahino deal is all that hard to believe, 500k compensation fee plus I'd assume around 30k a week wages (Barton's wage would take up majority of that with other players leaving MOH Gilks etc) .

Would actually be a quality signing I think he would score for fun and if he finds form we could make a small fortune off of him.

08 Jan 2017 19:41:00
Berahino is so far out of the budget range that it is comical.

Anyway, his attitude is questionable at best.

I saw him in pre season game against Plymouth Argyle and he was was dreadful.

If we were able and at the moment its a big if, to spend that sort of money, we could do better with the money than him.

Speaking of Plymouth, we could do worse than make an attempt to sign Craig Tanner who is on loan there until the end of the month. He is a Reading player (not sure of his length of contract) . He made a difference when he came on at Anfield this afternoon and has has a good season so far. He would definitely be an asset at Ibrox, in my opinion better than MOH.

09 Jan 2017 02:04:27
Berahino is only on around 20 grand per week at his current club. He has had major fall out with club owners because of them scuppering his big move to spurs. That's why he's knocked back a new contract with them. I hope he does come to rangers on a pre contract deal and says a big egg you to those owners as they would get roughly 19.5m less for him than what spurs offered back then as we would only have to pay development fee.
I doubt it would happen but, to suggest we couldn't afford him is a load of bull, Barton was on 20k a week or so I'm lead to believe.
So why not? There is a real possibility that he could end up playing in Europe next season with rangers, that would allow him to showcase his talent at European level.

09 Jan 2017 10:07:45
makes perfect sense aswell mate 30 bgrand a week and then after one season we could be selling him at his value rate of 22 million well that is good business and a no brainer for the money men.
saying that it sounds too good to be true so it normally is too good to be true. fingers crossed though

08 Jan 2017 11:44:28
so a deal for hyndman and torral on loan 2 midfielders on loan what does this say to the younger lads in our squad is there any chance of signing these players permanent that would make a lot sense if there was but if they aren't these deals do not seem like forward planning from the club we should be walking second in the leauge with size of squad and budget compared to other clubs warburton bangs on about celtics financies beeing greatear that's why there is 19 point gap so where is rangers gap since we have better financies than others vying for second

08 Jan 2017 11:51:36
It's hardly Warburtons fault that the board won't spend transfer fees and he has to get loan signings while celtic pay 3milion for players. Unfortunately most of the players in the youth squads with the exception of a few are not good enough. You only have to look at robbie crawford. I remember people on here going on about him and know he's playing for East Kilbride.

08 Jan 2017 12:30:46
Holy is 100% correct. If the Board provided the required funds then we might actually see some quality players arriving on permanent deals but we are where we are. As far as our youth squad is concerned four years under McCoist and McDowall pretty much destroyed anything resembling a football club with a youth squad. We are fortunate that one or two are showing some progress under the current regime.

08 Jan 2017 14:45:49
I really hope both r with a view to perm deal tho doubting that Hyndman deal is.
Fans need to be realistic about youth that we have as the few gems we do have are still kids and have physic of a kid.
Hardie and Walsh at 19 and 20 aren't good enough to get a start at St Mirren! They def aren't answer for Rangers at current moment . Both had a chance to play and shine in championship and neither has come close to doing so.

08 Jan 2017 14:50:11
Never thought Crawford was anywhere near good enough for Rangers however it is a shock to see them have to go as low as the lowland league to get a game. Unfortunately McCoist and McDowall are responsible for the fact that our youth players aren't good enough to get near a very average squad

08 Jan 2017 16:12:22
Andy Murdoch is a higher standard than Walsh and Hardie, wat he'd him again yesterday at Cappielow and he was brilliant! Shame he left, we have young players who are really good but they're still early in their development

08 Jan 2017 17:07:58
Agree believe we made mistake letting the boy Murdoch go when we did.

08 Jan 2017 18:28:23
For the love of God will people just stop going on about the youth and when are they going to get a chance. THEY ARE NOT GOOD ENOUGH, ITS SIMPLE!

08 Jan 2017 19:24:24
its not down to our youths not good enough its down to them not getting a chance how are we going to no if there good enough or not if they don't get a game now a head of holt halliday ect the will see no path way to first team and will end up leaving
they should be giving a chance to prove there worth to me it just seems pointless playing other clubs youngsters to secure second in the leauge when we can give our own youngsters a chance and would secure second with what we have plus them i hope there is a buy clause included in these deals then it makes sense

08 Jan 2017 19:47:02
Personally I would prefer Murdoch in midfield to Halliday

08 Jan 2017 20:52:35
It will tell the younger lads that they are not ready for the step up yet. Why do people focus so much on youth. If they are good enough they will play! They obviously aren't good enough yet! Simple!

08 Jan 2017 21:01:47
Craigs8688, i'll tell you exactly what it says. "These players we're bringing on loan are far better than our own young players and warbs obviously doesn't think our current young players are up to playing in the big team, yet"! that's the message it sends out to me mate!

09 Jan 2017 03:22:07
Aye when I was at the game all I could help think was that Murdoch is better than Halliday. Wouldn't mind Quintongo either when he is fit again.

09 Jan 2017 13:41:42
@Craigs8688

I think you're missing the point. They don't get a chance because they are either not ready or good enough. You don't throw players in and see what happens, it doesn't work like that and never will. If they are on loan you more likely too see if they have it.

Our current youth do not have the calibre to make us better.

10 Jan 2017 09:22:00
GDOg, you make a very good point but in the case of some of the young players that have been allowed to leave surely they could do as good a job as some of the so called Premier League players in our current line up.

Young Murdoch looked a decent prospect and is playing well for Morton. Surely he could have done a better job than Halliday is doing in that same role!

08 Jan 2017 11:13:47
Any thots about going for frank lampard wld b ideal Dm that we need and he wld stroll it like wilkins don't think he wld b looking for a big wage as he and might want 1 final chance to pull on the blue jersey as he's a bluenose I met him and his dad in Manchester 2008 he said he wld like to finish his career at ibrox

08 Jan 2017 12:31:12
He would never get a game ahead of Halliday!

08 Jan 2017 12:51:17
For a start frank was never a defensive midfielder, he was and still is an attacking midfielder, and yes you are correct he does have a soft spot for the club, but we won't sign him, I'm pretty sure of that.

08 Jan 2017 12:51:25
Since when was Lampard a defensive midfielder.

08 Jan 2017 14:07:22
Since when was Halliday a defensive midfield player!

08 Jan 2017 14:42:39
Good post tom, haliday seems un droppable just now, don't know why as his performances haven't been good enough, I would play crooks instead, he needs a run of games to get better, not sitting on the bench

08 Jan 2017 18:29:45
Halliday is awful! Great lad but simply not good enough.
