08 Feb 2016 19:38:25
We have a home tie against Dumbarton or Dundee if we get passed Killie mind you it could have been Brazil or Tobermory away with these SFA muppets lol.

08 Feb 2016 20:20:41
Shambles! The only plus point would be the look on Thompson ' s face when his money spinning tie against Celtic evaporated in front of his eyes. Worse, a tiny crowd in Dingwall will see the Celtic feeder club papped out the cup. You couldn't make it up!

09 Feb 2016 11:45:42
Once again it shows up Scottish football, the people running our game are clueless, their ruining it, as Barry hearn said if they worked for him, they would have been sacked long ago.

09 Feb 2016 12:03:51
If it had been us rather than Celtic imagine the uproar?

08 Feb 2016 18:59:18
SHOCKING! Embarrassing? What next for Scottish football . happy with draw lol.

08 Feb 2016 19:26:49
You couldni make it up, shambles, what an embarrassment, I noticed it right away a bit paper floating about wtf are these guys doing all those staff surely someone would have noticed it.

08 Feb 2016 19:44:34
Proof that the SFA and at least one of the proclaimers are backing Celtic! No arguments, it's all on t. v!
Lol.

09 Feb 2016 07:59:55
in my opinion the whole draw should have be done if not later then a new date to some it just makes Scottish look a joke or more of a joke or on the hand how much of this is
down to corruption because Scottish football needs football
needs either one of the old firm in the final to attract
a half decent crowd as it is difficult to see more than
25 thousand at the league cup final
also I pretty sure it is only diehard gers fans that really
expect us to reach the final.

09 Feb 2016 11:47:22
The worst of it is they only had 4 ties to draw and they still messed it up, live on Sky too.

09 Feb 2016 14:15:23
Think your underestimating the genius at work here- if draw had went as planned then nobody would be talking about it as unless your team is in draw then the interest level is close to zero.

Now the draw is being broadcast across europe and for once Scottish football has entertained all.

08 Feb 2016 18:55:34
Great draw for us should we put killie to the sword, obviously Mr Thompson and celtic didn't fancy the original draw, hence a cock up and redraw, great chance to progress for us, no disrespect to dunbarton, got to be happy felow Bearsđź‘Ť.

08 Feb 2016 20:21:57
That will be another slice of the sporting integrity pie for us to swallow. Motherwell football club also found guilty on a number of issues in respect of the playoff game against Rangers last season and their punishment. sentence deferred for 18 months.
Disgrace!

08 Feb 2016 20:22:22
I think Dundee will be a tough tie if we manage to beat Killie. They are a good footballing side.

{Ed039's Note - They are a good side, I would take Kane Hemmings back all day long, another boy the Super Salary allowed to go to waste)

08 Feb 2016 21:11:56
I've been impressed with Hemmings. He just seems to keep on scoring. Aye it's a pity Ally couldn't see what was in front of his face. Now it would cost the club decent money to buy back a player who was already on the books. Crazy.

08 Feb 2016 21:58:28
Seeker: In fairness although he knocked them in for the reserves and granted he only got something like 3 matches for Rangsrs, he never really did anything, sometimes a player flourishes a couple of years later at a different club, not so sure I would lay this one down as one of Ally's big mistakes.

09 Feb 2016 06:27:02
He also knocked them in when sent out on loan to clubs in leagues above us.

09 Feb 2016 11:48:42
To be fair I think the lad did have some injury issues so maybe shouldn't be too hard on Ally for a change!

09 Feb 2016 11:50:36
Ally mcCoist ruined plenty of players, the guys not a manager, simple as, legend aye, manager computer says no.

09 Feb 2016 12:04:34
Hemmings was injured nearly the dull season we were in 3rd division hardly mccoists fault.

09 Feb 2016 12:38:29
Kane Hemmings was saying in the paper today Ally was great with him. Just saying.

09 Feb 2016 07:28:45
True, but this often happens, how many young strikers have come through at Rangers?, Little most recently and McSwegan and Spencer before him were the most successful. The last two only had 2 or 3 years more bit part and left, I think it's because centre forward is so difficult to learn and the pressure of that position for a young player as it is so individualised. Clark has struggled and he is another young guy although he came to Rangers from another club, I think in midfieldand defence you are more part of a team and that supports the player and takes the pressure off to allow them to showtheir individual skills, we have had a lot of young midfielders come through.
Hardie hasn't had much of a run and he should have, but it shows maybe the management over the years have been reluctant to push them in.

08 Feb 2016 18:51:51
wht a embarrassment of a cup draw lol.

08 Feb 2016 18:45:52
Heart or Hibs v Inverness

Celtic v Morton

Ross county v Dundee Utd

Rangers or Kilmarnock v Dumbarton or Dundee.

08 Feb 2016 21:06:06
All games to be played on the 32nd/ 33rd of March.

08 Feb 2016 18:44:25
you couldn't make it up! 8 balls and they can't do better than a bloody pantomime, time for some resignations here, get some people in who UNDERSTAND the game and it's needs.
SPFL? you fill in the blanks.

08 Feb 2016 21:17:02
WTF is the problem with the English system? Balls with numbers already allocated to teams. A hand into a concealed bowl, a quick rummage around and hey presto! How simple is that?

08 Feb 2016 18:42:58
Could the cameraman not even see the mess up in the pot before it got pulled out.

08 Feb 2016 21:18:50
Tbh if I had been the cameraman I wouldn't have said anything either. That lot just deserve to be totally embarrassed.

08 Feb 2016 18:36:33
Dundee Utd v Celtic
Dumbarton or

Ball opened whilst withdrawing it draw has to be restarted shambles.

08 Feb 2016 19:11:11
The ball was open from the start, u could see the paper lying there.

08 Feb 2016 17:48:51
I think the squad is looking good for the rest of the season. I think we are much more solid defensively and are keeping the ball off of most teams for the full 90 mins every week. I think one of the drawbacks of the new tighter system we are using now is we are not quite as fluid in attack. I think when O'halloran and King are available that won't be a problem, as they both offer something different creatively. Think Miller and Waggy are needing a rest to get the best out of them. Would like to see O'halloran and King (or Forrester) is on from the start this week with McKay.

08 Feb 2016 19:05:09
Good post recbob. O'Halloran and King would freshen things up. We still need a natural goalscorer though so maybe as the season moves on Hardie can be given a game or two?

08 Feb 2016 21:33:42
Doigir would love to see Hardie given a chance but a just can't see it this year. Obviously seen as one for the future but I think he deserves a chance now, even some sub appearances. Some of the goals he scored for the 20's have been nothing short of breathtaking. I trust the manager though, just think he might be scared to drop Waggy for a few games because of what he's done so far, but the guy needs a wee break. He looks the type of player that would come back hungry and raring to go.

08 Feb 2016 14:18:49
Anyone know what's happening with the petrofac cup final tickets when they go on sale and if season ticket holders get first buy option.

08 Feb 2016 14:58:16
After the sfa take their tickets will probably only be 30 000 left!

08 Feb 2016 16:07:31
I think season ticket holders would get a few days in advance of public sale to buy!

08 Feb 2016 13:30:21
what time is the draw?

08 Feb 2016 14:52:01
Allan
Live on Sky Sports News, Sportsound, Radio Clyde 6.30pm tonight.

08 Feb 2016 14:26:26
The draw is at 6:30 tonight. Lubo Moravcik will be doing it live on sky news HQ.

08 Feb 2016 12:49:46
Has anyone got any idea about when the cup replay tickets for the 16th will go on sale? I am stationed at Brize Norton and thought I wasn't getting to a game with my wee boy and girl this trip home but then we drew with killie so I am hoping to go to the replay.

08 Feb 2016 14:00:33
once an actual date is agreed as currently the dates are possibly going to be rearranged.

08 Feb 2016 14:29:43
Cheers for the reply, hopeful that they play on the 16th if no I'll stare at the tele!

08 Feb 2016 12:53:46
Wee Barry McKay

Good performance on Saturday, looking very solid and composed and confident how a days.

I am just getting a bit concerned about this new contract carry on! He is a wee boy, playing for mighty gears, great manager, team, support, stadium, fans, most likely a decent wage on offer, say ÂŁ5k per week. What is the hold up here?

He better not forget were he came from and get to big for his gold Nike Boots!

Comments?

08 Feb 2016 13:52:07
I agree mate he is looking good. He has been getting better each game for sure!

I hope he is not, would be a shame if he was believing his hype already and is trying to get a move, because he will end up playing at a high level no doubt but not for another few years. Hope he signs up soon and develops more under our management as he wouldn't get a game in the top flight of England yet!

08 Feb 2016 14:01:06
these things take time mate. keep calm he'll sign a new deal.

08 Feb 2016 14:42:24
think there might have been promises made to him by previous management etc. about increases in ÂŁÂŁÂŁ dependant on games played, trophys won etc.
Current regime don't want to pay out big bucks like the last lot, rightly so, but he is entitled to get the best he can for himself.

08 Feb 2016 17:39:27
The last Warburton said on it was that it was nearly done and was only a few loose ends to tie up. Probably just been waiting for the transfer window to shut and get the Killie game out the way. Can see him signing soon. Great player in the making the boy, few seasons in the SPFL and he'll be worth a fortune. Can't believe that wee Forrest gets in the Scotland team before him, he's guff.

08 Feb 2016 18:14:27
Said two weeks ago that Waggy needs a wee rest, definitely don't change my mind, I love the guy but he has not been at his clinical best recently, as for the Petrofac final tickets why are they not on sale NOW, gives everyone plenty of time to sell the game out and make it a good occasion, typical SFA .

08 Feb 2016 12:49:23
Players for next year. Out of this starting 11 how many would you remove for next year if we in premiership?

Fodderingham NO
Tav NO
Kiernan NO
Wilson YES
Wallace NO
Holt POSSIBLY
Haliday POSSIBLY
Law YES
Waggy NO
Ohall NO
McKay NO

I have said possibly with Holt and Halliday although only because I would hope for a couple of right quality midfielders to be brought in, Law also.

However all 3 of them I do believe could do a job in Premiership.

Wilson I think is just to slow and would get show up however him and Kiernan have formed a good partnership and understanding now and with a good DM infront of them they are decent together however for Premiership I think we need a wise old head at the back for next season.

All in all we have a good team just now and I think they would be top 6 straight up but with the right additions we are talking top 3 straight up!

Thoughts fellow bears?

08 Feb 2016 13:27:18
Wrong big time on holt, he's going to have a big future as for halliday if we sign a couple of quality midfielders I could see him on the bench more regular although it's up to him to keep the jersey he loves but one thing we can be sure of its going to be an interesting summer.

08 Feb 2016 13:27:58
Taking out holt and halliday our best players this season Aye you know what you are talking about keep your phone handy I'm sure mark Warburton will be ringing soon for advice.

08 Feb 2016 14:13:02
I'd have to disagree with Gary75, can't see where Halliday would fit in, as for rest with the exception of tav and Wallace don't think anyone is guaranteed a place if these 6 new players arrive.
Would like to think Holt, Waggy and McKay (if he signs new contract) would be in team as they have been outstanding this year but remember the Magic Hat says whoever he brings in must be better than what we have so maybe a few fan favourites won't be there and team may be somewhat different.

08 Feb 2016 14:36:09
gary75, nice snide comment there!

your spot on best players this season in the league, you do realise we have been playing Alloa, Dumbarton, Livingston Raith Rovers etc.

Players in the team this year will have to be sacralised to improve us for the premiership next year that is the point I am trying to make. Also note I did say I think they could do a job in the premiership next year.

But we are Glasgow Rangers, we don't just want players to do a job we want players to progress us and take us back to No1 in Scotland.

So Gary75 take your head out the clouds and keep your we snide comments to yourself!

08 Feb 2016 14:59:15
Halliday is a very useful squad player, and has proved to be one of the better players in our team.

08 Feb 2016 16:37:49
M3LV0 - wouldn't take the snide comments to heart. This forums full of them. Anything critical is jumped on.

Almost all our players can cut it at spl level- but as a club cutting it is not good enough. We need a team with several players of a much higher quality to come close to challenging Celtic. Having players of spl quality is not enough, we need players that are better than that.

The current squad will struggle against higher quality opposition, as it has done at times this season. Teams in spl are fitter and better organised than in the championship. That's why we need players of higher quality.

Although the team is much improved from last season we really do need to put it in context, last season was the biggest failure in Scottish football history. We should be beating this standard of opposition with the playing budget we have.

Although we dominated possession against killie we struggled to create much against a managerless team that has been leaking plenty of goals. Without quality reinforcements that could well be the story of next season. Against the better sides we could really struggle. I think our current squad would finish fourth or fifth at best.

I seem to be one of the few fans who is not swept away by MW. It's become like some sort of personality cult. For me he has achieved nothing yet and judgment should be reserved- after all we are only a few bad results from disaster with hibs right behind us. We have been very fortunate recently in games to get results. Our current style of play seems to be wowing some fans but personally I find it pretty frustrating to watch. Too many safe passes with an emphasis on pretty side to side passing with little end product. I also think we are tactically naive, one punt up the park into channels and our defence is exposed. Better SPL teams will do this more ruthlessly like st Johnstone did in cup.

Hopefully we will go up and some quality will be added in summer. Otherwise next season could be a painful experience.

I realize this may not sit well with some fans but I genuinely think this is the truth, not what we want to see.

08 Feb 2016 16:44:47
All joking apart our squad as it is would compete quite comfortably in the top division imo. Obviously MW is going to be making some signings over and above the Accrington lads so by the time we hit August I think we're going to have a right good squad with competition for every position. I'm very optimistic about the future, especially considering where we were at this time last season and how well the management team has done in a short space of time. I hope the other lot decide that Ronny needs more time as well. I'd say we'd have a right good chance of ruffling a few feathers.

08 Feb 2016 17:06:02
Luigi I mostly agree with most of your posts on here to be honest, but saying we have stuggled in some games recently isn't quite right I don't think. I think it's more the case that we struggle to convert our chances. Even though we have won our recent games by a small margin there was never really any doubt we where going to get beat.

The Killie game was down to poor finishing. There was enough chances to win the game in my opinion.

The side to side passing does bring out some frustrations mind you, I have to agree there but I am a big fan of Warburton and he is pushing the club in the right direction, it's a big mess to clean up after all.

08 Feb 2016 09:03:40
I now think big rob kiernan is by far the best centre half we have at rangers, the big man has grown on me game by game, very solid no nonsense centre half and just like I've said many times on here, warbs most certainly has an eye for a player, big kiernan is tremendous in the air, very strong in the tackle and he's now keeping it simple with his passing, has everything in his locker to be the complete centre half in my book.

08 Feb 2016 11:18:27
I have to agree. Been really impressed with him the past few games. He has been solid and keeps it simple. Bit of an effect on Wilson as well.

Looks like he understands Rangers a lot better as well and is coping with the pressures thatcome with playing for thecluv.

08 Feb 2016 11:52:04
I agree W15 Kiernan is very composed and comfortable on the ball and can be strong in a tackle if required to do so - quiet man and looks a natural leader on the park -.

08 Feb 2016 13:01:31
I like big Keirnan. Definitely growing into the role. I'd like to see us utilise his strength in the air from corners more. I know W has his way he wants to play but a few training ground variations on corners would be good as the goals per corner stats must be shocking, even from a team that plays on the deck.

08 Feb 2016 13:29:23
I think we can now see davie weirs input on the centre halfs as they've become much more solid.

08 Feb 2016 13:56:41
I agree Kiernan is looking really assured now. At the beginning of the season he was going to ground a lot and getting caught out but he is definitely improved vastly.

Wilson I think is on the same path, he is improving but not quite as quickly. I'm happy with both centre halfs now. I hope we keep Ball as well, he has been solid and would be a great free transfer at the end of the season.

08 Feb 2016 14:59:59
Kiernans passing is absolutely battrocious tho, how many times did he give the ball away against Kilmarnock, descent defender but needs to work on playing out from the back.

08 Feb 2016 16:40:19
One week we need two new central defenders, the next one of them is a superstar in the making. Who said fans were fickle?

08 Feb 2016 16:53:38
I actually think the big fella is an excellent passer of the ball, and with both feet. Are you sure you're not getting mixed up with Danny or Dom as they gave the ball away a few times against Killie. Must admit the centre backs are improving and I think this is down to Davie Weir. How many clean sheets in a row has that been now? Is it 4? Whatever it is they're doing is working. Maybe these guys will make up our new iron curtain defence. For all the young whippersnappers out there - ask your dad, or even your grandad!

08 Feb 2016 16:18:08
I like a bruiser type and a ball player combination for my centre halves. I think they'll flourish with a good holding midfielder in front of them.

08 Feb 2016 06:11:26
Gers best starting 11 in my eyes. fod. wallace. tavernier . Wilson . keirnan . Ball . Holt. Law. Mackay . Waghorn. Ohalloran
I took halliday out in replace with ball also think law more tactical aware than halliday. would like to see formation change to 3 5 3.also like to see at least 1 young boy on bench each week.

08 Feb 2016 08:55:46
Davie 1980,agree with the majority of your team but there's no way I'd have law or ball in the first team before andy halliday, the first 2 midfielders on the team sheet should without question imo be jason holt and andy halliday and then its a big fight for the 3rd position in midfield.

08 Feb 2016 10:24:49
3-5-3? Never heard of that formation before.

08 Feb 2016 10:38:09
Halliday a far better player than Law.

08 Feb 2016 13:31:00
I'm sure 3-5-3 would help us destroy teams that only play with 11 men in the 3-5-3 can we play with two goalies.

08 Feb 2016 16:41:59
Don't know what the fuss is - Celtic play 3-5-3 all the time with the ref adding a bit of goal threat from midfield.

08 Feb 2016 16:57:11
I think Halliday has to play. The guy is a good footballer and has come to us at the perfect time. I'd keep him in the holding role as I think this is his natural position. A future Rangers captain - a stick on, imo.
