If Morelos is banned (I think he was unlucky) who will fill the gap? Defoe, Lafferty or someone else? I thought his 2nd goal last night was top drawer.

07 Feb 2019 19:53:24
I thought his second goal was world class but it's hard to call who would replace Morelos if he was banned.
It's got to be Defoe or Lafferty.

08 Feb 2019 08:43:25
I think SG has shown that Defoe is ahead of Lafferty in the pecking order already. I'd expect Defoe to come in.

That said, but the letter of the law, I expect him to get off.

08 Feb 2019 12:19:09
Got to be Defoe imo.

07 Feb 2019 18:45:57
Just watched the TAV penalty call again and if you watch it in slow mo their player is actually holding onto TAV arm to stop him pulling it away and also has his arm round Tavs shoulders. It was their no 19 who pulled Tav to the ground not the other way about. Very clever and i never noticed it at first but seriously look again. well manufactured penalty. OK Tav shouldn't have his arm round him but they all do it.

07 Feb 2019 19:58:53
Thought it was Lewis Ferguson?
McKennas squad number is 19?

07 Feb 2019 20:02:27
It was a stone wall penalty and very bad defending by Tavernier.

07 Feb 2019 21:13:36
Stonewall penalty, crazy defending.

07 Feb 2019 22:08:53
McKenna wears 5. Fergie 19.

07 Feb 2019 23:04:22
Penalty simple as that. I will say that probably in every match up and down the country you will see that happen in every game but they hardly ever get given. In my opinion those should always be given, you are clearly stopping a player moving to where he wants to go. So for me 100% penalty I just think that as with every other game consistency is all you want for you and against you. What about sportsecene not even showing Burkes dive lol.

07 Feb 2019 23:52:27
Tav gave away a pen all day long geesadodothat👍.

08 Feb 2019 08:47:06
Defo penalty but again shows the inconsistencies in this rule as far as I can see Europe wide not just in Scotland. every game you watch this type of grappling goes on rarely penalised but if you do that anywhere else on pitch, foul poss yellow card.

07 Feb 2019 14:42:55
anyone else see the dons player about 2 yards offside for cosgroves equaliser?

as for the not interfering with play angle, the guys standing right in the middle of the 6yd box blocking shaggers view as the balls ricocheting about

if it was other way about mhanky mob wld be in uproar about masonic refs

anyway huge 3pts last night - absl delighted.

07 Feb 2019 15:09:08
We've submitted an appeal against Morelos red card. Having watched it a few times now I think there's more than a good chance that it'll be rescinded.

07 Feb 2019 15:33:43
I know morelos does crazy things at times, but his worth to rangers is stunning. He has 23 goals and 15 assists already this season, which is a tremendous return. Just think how many goals morelos might have been on, if he hadn't have missed these games through suspension and if indeed he was our penalty kick taker! It would have been an even more, impressive record! He is different class!

07 Feb 2019 16:04:06
You know that's one thing I never thought about was that he doesn't take the penalties. Very true super.

07 Feb 2019 18:03:18
I don’t think it will get recinded but just for a laugh I pray it does😂😂😂.

07 Feb 2019 19:45:30
Colster if it does get rescinded they will have a meltdown not seen since the great Mo johnstone signing.

07 Feb 2019 20:05:26
Good pint SC, Alfie would be over 30 goals now if he took the penalties, he's an awesome talent, just needs some fine tuning.

07 Feb 2019 21:16:33
I actually think he would miss a lot of penalties. He's a better striker when it's instinctive chances, he ususlly tucks them away, when he's got time to think he usually misses, look at last night when he went clean thru.

08 Feb 2019 12:22:05
Word on the street is he just might get off with it. It's the new law about what is deemed excessive force which also means McKenna's would stand. Timplosion imminent!

07 Feb 2019 14:20:18
now that i have calmed down a bit from my bias views last night and after watching the highlights again on the major decisions both penalties are penalties. regarding the rangers penalty yes he is offside but i understand how it has been missed, onto the red cards McKnna is a stone wall red card Morelos i still believe is a very soft red card, the main thing about the Morelos red card is that Lewis Ferguson does worse if not similar on Shagger and only gets a booking? Shags one back on Ferguson is a penalty however if that is given then I'm afraid we would have no goalkeepers left on a football park in any game in any league. But as i say i am bias.

Marcelo Bielsa

07 Feb 2019 14:27:35
{Ed's Note - Ed001 has posted a new manager profile about, Marcelo Bielsa

07 Feb 2019 13:32:07
the incident was red cards all day long---you simply can't stp on a players parts and kick a player in the head---end of story---oh and we played well, deserved all 3 points but the killie game is haunting us for the title.

07 Feb 2019 13:49:38
Thot it was a sending off myself. But going by the new letter if the law. Did he use excessive force? No he never.

07 Feb 2019 18:20:31
There was no stamp.

08 Feb 2019 09:19:35
Stop defending him, it's a red all day long.

07 Feb 2019 11:33:38
Ed, a fair few split opinions on the Morelos red. Could you set up a poll please?
Yellow for both,
Red for Morelos and Yellow Mckenna,
Yellow for Morelos and Red Mckenna,
Red for both.

{Ed033's Note -

Morelos and Mckenna Cards Poll

07 Feb 2019 14:41:58
decent poll that after watching it a few times in my opinion aberdeen needed morelos to be sent off he was on fire 3 defenders on him aberdeen were being bullied so half time comes and 10 mins he's off. aberdeen can play with 10 men instead of 9.

hmm a bit far fetched i know but aberdeen needed him off the park not one player contested mckenna sending off but nearly everyone of them was spitting at the ref to send off morelos the ref was attacked by red shirts? so at full time their manager is full of praise for morelos? hmm really.

07 Feb 2019 17:32:22
Have to laugh at the 11 votes for red Morelos yellow McKenna.

07 Feb 2019 21:12:37
Back in the day both yellow and told to get on with it, nowadays both red.

07 Feb 2019 11:15:10
Brilliant game last night and really enjoyed it! Morelos was his usual daft self and he alone nearly cost us the points as the Sheep were shocking at the back and he would have scored more. Don't know what's happening with Barasic and I thought he was dreadful and the sheep took total advantage of him. I will give him the benefit as he's been out injured but he must improve his overall game? As for Mcgregor it was stupid but how can you give a ban when the keeper is protecting himself? And you seen what Ferguson done on the second challenge when Shagger could not protect himself 😬🇬🇧.

07 Feb 2019 14:37:25
@yately1 - or Morelos helped us earn the 3 points with his first half double? 👍.

07 Feb 2019 14:23:50
I agree with you Yately1, if you watch the McGregor incident he clearly has the ball in both hands as he went down, why couldn't ferguson jump over him, he was never going to get the ball was he?

07 Feb 2019 14:59:28
I understand that UJ, but we could have dropped points last night due to stupidity👍🇬🇧.

07 Feb 2019 18:42:36
but we wouldn't have got the points if he didn't play.

07 Feb 2019 09:24:16
Anybody notice Aberdeens 3 best players shinnie Ferguson and Stewart all played and got released from our youth teams🤔.

07 Feb 2019 10:04:08
No but I did notice that from the first whistle they were all sent out to surround and harass the referee, and claim for everything as they knew the ref was under pressure not to award us much, this actually cost them as McKenna concedes the penalty. As it goes I think Madden had a decent game although I completely disagreed with the Morelos red. Will be interested to see if Madden/ all refs start giving us penalties when our players are handled like Lewis Ferguson, doubt it.

07 Feb 2019 11:04:30
Great point weebear👍🇬🇧.

07 Feb 2019 11:27:11
they didn't on Saturday. clear rap around on katic.

07 Feb 2019 14:32:15
Shinnie would be a good signing for us strong midfielder and I think zander Clark of st Johnstone would be a great back up for McGregor.

07 Feb 2019 20:06:36
Thought Shinnie was superb last night and would be a good signing on a free. Stewart also played really well too and gave Barisic all sorts of problems who looked dreadful last night.

07 Feb 2019 07:01:11
Morning bears, good result last night and I’ve said my piece on the red cards on the rumours thread. I think most (not all but most) would agree that going into the game that was our best team on the park last night with exception of maybe Worrall. I prefer Katic but many others including the gaffer seem to think Worrall is better. Morelos was superb while on the pitch last night and when he went off we were pretty poor if I’m honest. Ryan Kent was again tremendous and we really need to get this loan extended for next season. We need to keep this mentality of only looking to the next game, 3 points, keep pressure on. We cannot let any dropped points by Celtic go unpunished and hopefully we can get closer to them soon but if not we must stay in the race. Massive game on Saturday now and another tasty affair I’d expect after Clarke’s comments and Gerrards response this week. Defoe looked good last night and if Morelos is banned then it will be useful that we have a period of 1 game a week coming up, this is exactly the reason Defoe was brought in, to finish off games like last night and to have a quality back up if he is unavailable.

07 Feb 2019 08:38:11
What about Mcinnes apparently going in rangers dressing room after game telling them keep the noise down, he, he.

07 Feb 2019 08:56:05
Wee bear we're not good enough to catch celtic if we're all to be honest it be 2nd for us this year that wasn't a good performance last nite scoreline flattered us that mob were by far the better team.

07 Feb 2019 10:11:18
Thought we were by far the better team until the penalty followed quickly by the red cards. Their goal was a fluke IMO due to defensive errors again and at HT I fancied us to win by 3 or 4. Our squad isn’t deep in quality but if we keep most players fit and available I think we’ll run them close. Really what it will come down to is who drops the most points between now and May so 1 game at a time, 3 points and see where it takes us!

07 Feb 2019 10:40:34
After the sending offs. We defended a lead, the sheep went for it. Despite that I thought we were dangerous on the break and overall deserved to win.

07 Feb 2019 11:29:16
Aberdeen were the better team? You're having a laugh. We were poor but still deserved it.

07 Feb 2019 11:39:37
Dgersfan rangers were the better team first they were 2nd half they were not by far the better team rubbish we gave them a bit of their own medicine second half hitting them on break goals that count that’s what they’ve done to us last3 games before. we are probaly too inconsistent to win league but here’s hoping we can go On a run prove me wrong.

07 Feb 2019 12:47:28
DSGERSFAN, no way were Aberdeen the better team, 2ne half we sat off for some reason and invited them on to us which it maybe looked like they were better.

07 Feb 2019 13:16:12
DSGERS we pumped them first half and then did what we had to do second half, nicking an extra goal. no way they were better overall, for a patch of the second half fair enough but we deserved that win.

07 Feb 2019 20:09:08
DSGERS - We were the better team until the sending offs.
What a moment when Defoes strike hit the back of the net to guarantee us 3pts.
