I also said a few weeks back that the reason we brought in so many loan signings in the jan window was because the board would evaluate in the summer and if we do go for another manager he might not fancy these guys! I want Murty to get a fair chance to see where he can take us but if not I think Steve Clarke would be a safe bet! Has the experience of being at some big clubs and has done a cracking job at Killie so far! Thoughts bears?

08 Feb 2018 01:14:00
Steve Clark has said he will not leave Kilmarnock for any other SPL team. Great manager though

07 Feb 2018 23:37:38
First of all this isn’t a bashing for Murty as I genuinely like the man. He’s brought a bit of identity back to us but the facts are the facts and points are what matter. He seems to be able to motivate the players for the so called bigger games but the teams we have dropped most points against are the bread and butter teams we should be dealing with, with ease. The fact is we have dropped 17 points since he took charge. Say what you want about mcinnes but the reason the sheep have stayed above us is they beat these teams. I think we got caught with our trousers down when he knocked us back and had no option but to appoint Murty.

08 Feb 2018 01:14:50
How many of those games were without his singings though?

08 Feb 2018 07:30:31
Spot on. Also murty 3 mcinnes 0.

08 Feb 2018 11:37:30
"Spot on. Also murty 3 mcinnes 0."
But still behind them. Surely that's more important.

09 Feb 2018 08:13:29
I think come the end of the season we'll know if murty is the answer as manager. 2nd in league and cup run, else bye bye.

07 Feb 2018 22:29:25
Looking at our goal difference I see a big positive for us getting 2nd place this year. I also reckon the sheep will drop points in their next 2 games. We MUST win ours and put the pressure on the sheep then "welcome the chase".

07 Feb 2018 21:58:09
We need to be playing 2 strikers every game. Cummings and morelos would probably play well together we just haven't seen enough of them together yet. Its fkn annoying sometimes when you watch the team you can see absolute genius play or pretty much utter dogshit.

08 Feb 2018 08:20:37
there is this great desire to get Cummings in the team why? I've seen nothing from him that suggests he is Rangers class he was poor on Sat in fact so far he has run about like a headless chicken so for me he has a long way to go till he convinces me

08 Feb 2018 20:33:35
cummins is overrated. has done nothing to convince me. i can't see murty playng both together as both are two similar.

07 Feb 2018 21:16:01
Pedro spent whole load money while murty loan deals making more of a team.

07 Feb 2018 20:40:28
So After 20 games murty and Pedro have same point total. Pedro had to go so does murty need to go or are we seeing improvement rather than getting worse like under Pedro. They say points are what matter and not the performance.

07 Feb 2018 20:55:58
Pedro had a couple of months of the previous season to settle in and then signed his own players and a full preseason.
I'm not one for chopping and changing managers, Murty is our manager until the end of the season. I believe that is the best point to evaluate his record.

07 Feb 2018 21:00:01
Pedro after 20games is 3points better off yet he had to go but people saying murty deserves a new deal lol

07 Feb 2018 21:15:52
pedro should have been given the tranfer window then judged.

07 Feb 2018 21:34:27
We should still keep judgments on murtys signings before we start praising them. As for Pedro signings a few have not worked out but on paper it was decent we got 2 Mexican internationals a Portuguese international cardoso a young under 23 Portuguese international good reputation in Portugal dorrens who has played last 8 years in the English premiership along with moralos candidas who has been decent then jack and John all that for under 10million on paper looks pretty good business some just have not worked out but to say he totally wasted it and don't know what he was doing is a little harsh.

07 Feb 2018 21:54:03
Give me peace - can’t compare Murty and Pedro - first of all our current manager has brought an air of professionalism back to our club, we are no longer a laughingstock in the media. He has assembled a decent squad capable of competing with loan signings and I for one actually look forward to our games each week. Pedro was a disaster and the past and that’s were we should leave him - onwards and upwards

07 Feb 2018 22:15:03
Yet Pedro had more points from 20 games than murty and that's the most important thing points!

07 Feb 2018 22:34:43
Pedro lacked class. Rangers managers should have class and be professional. He was neither. Press did hound him but you have to deal with that. Part and parcel of the job. He couldn't handle it. Onwards and upwards with Murty. As Murtys contract says he is in charge until end of season. Review and decision then.

07 Feb 2018 23:04:16
I'm asking a question how can people disagree with a question

07 Feb 2018 23:56:22
Deanobear are you Pedro?

08 Feb 2018 16:40:51
Lol no but I was a Pedro fan really wanted him to succeed I understood why some fans wanted him out but this is the same people who are saying murty has done a great job and to give him a permanent contract yet his record is worse than pedros so it just don't really make much sense.

08 Feb 2018 20:23:34
I’d say the same people who backed Pedro to the end will on the whole, now be supporting Murty. Those who are not wanting Murty will most likely be the McInnes backers or those who wanted a far bigger/ experienced name.

For the record I’m 100% behind Murty and will judge his record at the end of the season.

I also feel it’s harsh to judge Murty’s record to include his time as caretaker manager, there’s no doubt though that the losses at home and the poor results against the “wee” teams need to stop. I like the look of the squad now though and summer recruitment will be crucial, Murty or not!

07 Feb 2018 17:26:08
The only people making windass's sshhhh celebrations as controversial is the media. I for one don't mind his celebration as he is getting pelters. I agree his performances can be up and down but he has scored some important goals and chipping in with assists. We as rangers fans should just get behind the players.

07 Feb 2018 18:06:40
People would need to be pretty thin skinned to be offended by such a gesture.

07 Feb 2018 18:41:00
I really don't think anyone is offended, however it's a massive Insult to the fans who pay their money each week to support the team.

Essentially with his tweets at the weekend and this shows he doesn't have the mental toughness to play for our club. Happy to take the praise yet gets pissed off when he gets criticism then takes it out on the fans. Thanks but no thanks

07 Feb 2018 20:58:48
I hear you Rab, it does leave doubts if he can mentally handle playing for such a demanding club.
For me the gesture was aimed directly at the people mouthing of about him online and not the Rangers fans as a whole, which is fair enough really.

07 Feb 2018 21:04:46
I think some people forget he cost 100k not 10 million. Wasn’t offended by his gesture in the slightest. We are so hard to please sometimes. Give the guy dogs abuse then cry like babies at this.

07 Feb 2018 22:41:27
100% correct SharpshooterPOM . He basically told the fans "Gez peace! " . quite right. He's the whipping boy and it's a joke. Barry Mac was a whipping boy and then the same people complained that we sold him too cheap. Charlie Adam. another whipping boy who went on to play for Liverpool. . gee the boy a break.

07 Feb 2018 12:56:47
Any coincidence that were getting results away from home but struggling at Ibrox? Last season it was Halliday right now it's Windass. these lads are being put under more pressure by the fans than they already face being a Rangers player. How about supporting the team and give the players confidence to express themselves?

07 Feb 2018 13:15:40
For 7 to 10 grand a week i would accept and try to deal with the so called pressure they are under!

07 Feb 2018 14:02:13
Mccoist got rinsed off the fans when he was a player - his reaction was to score goals.

07 Feb 2018 14:47:12
Davie Cooper played for us before I was born, however I know what an exceptional player he was and my Dad always told me how there was a couple of helmets that used to sit near him at Ibrox that slated him more often than not.

We have some of the most spoilt, fickle supporters around, we could sign Cristiano Ronaldo in the summer and there would be fans out there that would moan about it.

Social Media has given people with half a brain cell a platform to slate our own.

07 Feb 2018 15:22:08
BearMode91, agree with you with exception of comment about people with half a brain cell having a platform on social media.

07 Feb 2018 17:15:07
You're bang on there Bearmode

08 Feb 2018 02:42:43
Bankie, I didn’t mean everybody with a negative opinion of players, i mean certain individuals going into players twitter pages and literally giving them similar to what you’d expect from a rival fan. Seriously, the stuff ‘fans’ say to/ about them is beggars belief at times.

When Bruno went off injured during the Old Firm game, some of he abuse he was getting on Twitter was a disgrace.

07 Feb 2018 11:57:04
Some people need to chill on her. rwb Murty is doing a good job we need to give him time as u say he was the youth coach but slapped the dons trice he will build a great team in the next few yrs. if u listen to what he's saying u know he's good the tools . windass is young but let's chase him before he blooms aswell. few years ago we went to the 4th so cheer up

07 Feb 2018 12:06:32
murty will stop ten in a row i have no doubt we need to stop the hating and demanding instant results. 2nd this yr challenge next.

07 Feb 2018 12:57:32
I’m behind Murty 100%. Unless there is an outstanding candidate out there that wants the job and the board can back him with funds then we have to make the best of what we’ve got. IMO we have had a good transfer window but the players need time to bed in, Martin, Murphy and Cummings were all on the fringes of their squads and will be still be getting match sharp. Hibs was a disappointment but we were well in that game while nowhere near our best and and on a different day (or ref) we may have squeaked it.

Murty’s remit for me remains 2nd place and a cup win. We are still well placed to achieve this, Celtic Will obviously be the biggest hurdle but bring them on!

For me the squad is now very bloated and credit to the board for doing some good business in January.

Assuming that all loans are made permanent (except Goss as no option) then I believe we need 9 out:

Cardoso
O’Halleron
Halliday
Krankjcar (contract)
Dodoo
Herrera
Hodson
Miller (contract)
Penã

Easier said than done I know lads but we need all these off the wage bill! This summer we need a back up for Tav, another centre forward, a Right Winger and another CB. If Morelos goes at any point then he would need replaced also!

07 Feb 2018 13:51:28
There will be teams in our league that will take MoH. Halliday looked good in the championship so teams like St Mirren or Livi could be options. We won't lose much sending Hodson and Dodoo down to league 1or 2. We will need to take a substantial hit on the Mexicans to get shot, and probably also have to pay Bruno off, although Fabio has till the end of season to prove his worth.

07 Feb 2018 20:18:13
Murtys results have actually been worse than Pedros over the same amount of games yet Pedro was a disgrace and yet murty is the man to take us forward and stop 10 in a row apparently it's baffling!

07 Feb 2018 11:40:54
Going forward once every one is fit for the midfield postions i would go candelias rm rossiter cm docherty cm dorrans lm with windass more advanced

07 Feb 2018 12:33:39
Leaving Murphy out?

07 Feb 2018 14:17:22
Its murphy or dorrans and based on what dorrans can do and what murphy has done so far i would go with dorrans as he is our player and murphy is yet to contribute with assits or goals.

07 Feb 2018 14:29:52
Murphy is our best left winger. Dozza plays no.10. Windass impact sub for me.

07 Feb 2018 23:37:32
We should have signed a left footed left winger! Murphy ain’t the answer I’m afraid

07 Feb 2018 11:09:25
Big Bates as dreadful as his distribution can be, he is young and will improve his game.
What he is brilliant at is defending and if he continues to get game time whilst having Alves and Martin around giving him advice he could be a mainstay for years to come.
Big Marv wasn't the best on the ball but you knew when the ball came into the box he was clearing it and I see Bates in the same mould.

07 Feb 2018 15:10:58
I agree Tommy, we have been crying out these last few years for defenders who can defend, and he is getting better with experience. Some of his forward clearances out of defence were actually quite good last night, turning defence into promising counter-attacks

07 Feb 2018 16:57:51
Totally agree his job is first and foremost to defend and he does a great job. I wouldn't even try to make him into a passing centre half . Win the ball and defend the goal all day and leave the passing to others.

07 Feb 2018 08:29:11
I came on here and had a go at bates. and got told to give him a chance now pepole are slagging windass lol. The bottom line is rangers need a manager not sum run of the mill under 20s coach.

07 Feb 2018 09:15:39
You are not allowed to critcise our players. that's not how proper 'Supporters' should behave!

07 Feb 2018 09:16:30
Bates was a collosus last night. Superb no nonsense defender. Very close to another motm performance and windass got a goal and assist - he was shhhin all the doubers wasnt the first and won't be tge last player to celebrate like that. happy with murty what you want warburton or pedro back?

07 Feb 2018 10:25:12
Chris, spot on.

Jose Mourinho shushed his own fans at the start of the season and only a few days ago Antoine Griezmann shushed and gave abuse back to his own fans, happens all the time.

And before I get stick for naming a top class manager and player, no I am not comparing them with Josh Windass, but Windass is a top performer in his position, that is backed up by his stats. let's not forget until Murty took over Windass was splaying left wing, he is never a left winger in his life.

Rangers are sitting 3rd because of our defensive short comings, not attacking, we have the top goalscorers and top creators in the league, again this is a fact proven by players stats.

07 Feb 2018 10:46:09
RfcChris

Are you saying that the only alternatives to Murty are Warburton or Pedro?

07 Feb 2018 14:08:11
Arthur D. No my point is yes murty was an under 20s manager but warburton was a manager and pedro was a manager and graeme murty has bested both of them.

07 Feb 2018 19:29:03
@rfcchris murty bettered Pedro however after the same amount of games Pedro had more points on the board? Not backing Pedro, far from it but I read earlier today that murty has actually lost more games in the top flight than either murty or Pedro. Need to double check that stats tho. So yeah Pedro is not better than murty but also he's not worse.

Unfortunately the rot has set in and now the fans are slowly accepting mediocrity. I mean come on guys a laboured win vs a very poor thistle side, whom had their chances, and all of a sudden we are world beaters.

Nah not for me, still need massive change at the club starting with a proper experienced manager then a lot of the names mentioned above being shipped out before we can think of challenging for anything

07 Feb 2018 20:22:01
Rfc Chris? Pedro record over same amount of games is better and has 3more points than murty so how on earth has he bested Pedro lol shows the influence the media can have tbh.

07 Feb 2018 08:03:37
A lot of the posts on here, apart from after the game opinions, seem to be about who should and should not, play in midfield. Can't wait until Dorrands, Jack, McCrorie etc are fit and ready for consideration. Ed you may need more pages when this happens.

Goss
Docherty
Holt
Windass
Docherty
Dorrands
Jack
McCrorie
Halliday
Candeais
Murphy
Rossiter

This is an observation not an opinion so forget all the usual derogatory remarks. Also could the above play 4-5-1?

07 Feb 2018 09:26:35
We could go for the 2-8-0 formation

07 Feb 2018 07:57:49
To the guys happy enough to defend Windass and the likes, I assume you are happy being the THIRD best team in Scotland. I resent anybody on this page to sit there and say I am not supporting my team. I have sat in Ibrox week after week and watched some of the worst results in our history and this is because the standard of player isn't up to it. Its nothing personal. If we go into next season with Windass, Bates, Holt etc we will be back here like groundhog day having the same conversations.

07 Feb 2018 09:02:10
Completely agree

07 Feb 2018 09:42:05
Tedebear, most of us will get where you're coming from. Third best isn't good enough for any of us. That said, the players you mention are good players, two of them youngsters who'll only get better and Holt can't be faulted. There are others out injured. I think we have as good a midfield as any and on any given day it seems like any team can just about beat another in this league. Hearts and Kilmarnock beat Celtic and we should have last time out. We're not as bad as you may think.

07 Feb 2018 10:00:19
Im happy to defend Windass from my seat in the east enclosure and I've never thought of my team ad the 3rd best - we are Rangers and that's better than anything - support the team!

07 Feb 2018 10:40:54
windass is not good enough end of story, lucky to be at a club like ours, swaggers about if he is the main man! I have no doubt he has ability but he offers us very little and week in week out puts in a below par performance! Thinks he scores a goal and that’s him he has done his bit! For any fan that defends him They must be watching a different game or are just happy he might score a goal and offer nothing else! Sooner we get this guy is sent back down the road the better!

07 Feb 2018 12:16:07
Are you seriously a supporter? Did you cheer JW's goal last night? Did you enjoy his hat-trick in the Cup? Any of his other goals you disliked? Particularly match winners - I suppose they got right up your goat?
Fans like you are a joy - Who are you going to have a go at next? Support the team! You never know we might actually have some decent players that can win silverware -
