Not being Funny but that was the sharpest/ Best performance I’ve seen us play for 6 years. From start to finish we flowed and controlled the game.
1-2 passing, high pressure. Quick link up play. Organised defending. Everyone knowing there role. and some great dribbling.

Arfelid Katic Flanagan Goldson were Phenomenal on there debut. Middleton Looks like a real star and I’m confident this will be his break our season bury couldn’t handle him. Windass and Tav Looks sharp and Murphy was brilliant. all in all it was a phenomenal performance was hoping a 3-4 win but to get 6 and rightfully should’ve been more was even better couldn’t have asked for a better performance

What a way to kick off the Stevie G Era already buzzing for the new season

LETS GO!

07 Jul 2018 07:40:52
Don't know why you are getting disagrees. Agree with everything you say

07 Jul 2018 09:08:38
Maybe the disagrees were down to the fact Bury were very poor and last nights game isn’t really an indicator on where the team is at

07 Jul 2018 09:22:27
Who knows seeker haha maybe Celtic fans obsessed on the site? Either way I’m not taking it that serious lol everyone is entitled to there opinion but genuinely confusing if it is our own fans since I think I said most what every fan would agree on lol

07 Jul 2018 10:07:50
Bury are possible at the same standard as l
The bottom few in our league. The only difference being the lower teams in our league are desperate to beat the mighty Glasgow Rangers so put in that extra bite.

06 Jul 2018 21:25:39
First of all, Bury were very poor and it was a friendly, but aside from that I thought we were awesome all over the pitch. And Middleton? Wow, just wow. The squad looks fit, hungry, lean and mean. Well done Stevie G and the coaches. Great start.

07 Jul 2018 00:07:11
Totally agree The Seeker! Irrespective of it being bury we were playing tonight, it was a very good performance by us tonight and like every fan at ibrox tonight, i totally enjoyed it! You could feel the buzz, before we went into the stadium! A lot of terrific performances tonight and scott arfield getting MOM, with his double! In saying that if arfield hadn't scored 2 goals, my MOM would have been young ross mccrorie, who i thought was outstanding tonight, in our midfield! Mccrorie has a helluva turn of pace and most of our impressive play, started with him! He set the tempo and was the orchestrator! I'll be honest and state here and now, that i thought mccrorie's best position, was in central defence! I've certainly changed my mind on that now! Young ross mccrorie most certainly is better in midfield! I say here and now, that gerrard will nurture mccrorie into a top defensive midfielder!

07 Jul 2018 07:53:35
Aye Coops, you could commend every player. Also thought McCrorie and Arfield were exceptional. Different, more kind of confident buzz around the stadium rather than apprehension which I felt when we played last season. As I said it was Bury and a friendly but there was a lot to love last night. Really impressed by the fitness levels shown. As the old cliche goes - let's take each game at a time and see where it takes us. Oh and btw I thought Flanagan was absolutely immense. Solid and quick with real skill. We have a lot of good players. Let's try and post some markets for the rest. Loved Steven's interview at full time when he was obviously delighted but at the same time tried to rein it in a little by saying things like the signs were good but we had a bit to go etc. Smart man. Let's hope he gets some time to hopefully build something special.

07 Jul 2018 09:11:39
Supercooper

I think you have to take into consideration that Bury were very poor. Yeah we did play well and some of the players looked great but Bury provided nothing at all

06 Jul 2018 21:25:32
Great performance from the boys tonight. Windass? Take the money and run.

07 Jul 2018 08:27:37
TJBB, clearly SG sees something that you don’t!

Just support the players

06 Jul 2018 21:03:36
Been really impressed with Middleton since he came on today, reminds me a lot of how Chris Burke was as a youngster.

He's stocky, quick, direct and just looks to get to the by-line and cross or cut the ball back.

Hope he's earned a place against Shkupi.

07 Jul 2018 07:51:44
Middleton is a much better player than Chris Burke. Should definitely get game time against Shkupi.

06 Jul 2018 20:44:27
I know it was only bury but all the new signings played very well imo

Arfield scoring 2 looks a he’s going to be a great signing for us this season also Katic getting on the score sheet he is a unit at the back and so is goldson looks very calm at the back Flanagan also will be a good signing for us

Also glad to see Morelos on the score sheet he deserves it. He tries so hard and puts himself about also looks a lot happier sure I seen him smiling and

06 Jul 2018 19:44:35
Am I being old fashioned with not liking seeing SG in a tracksuit pitchside. Hopefully it's a one off for this friendly game. Like seeing rangers managers in suit n tie. Will also accept that is bloody boiling the night as an excuse also. Lol.

06 Jul 2018 20:08:10
I didn't expect to see him as a suit and tie manager, really not too bothered as long as we get the results.

06 Jul 2018 20:25:09
Does it really matter at the moment we're 3 up playing great apparently geling well and your not happy as SG not in a shirt and tie I despair at times

06 Jul 2018 20:31:08
If he makes the team win he can wear a mankini for all I care!

06 Jul 2018 20:39:40
It does not matter one bit what the man wears!

06 Jul 2018 21:09:26
Couldn't care if he wears a kilt as long as he can build successful team

06 Jul 2018 21:21:53
N u don't want to talk about the fitba.

06 Jul 2018 21:43:18
James, he can wear whatever he wants!

06 Jul 2018 22:08:00
Couldn't care less what Stevie G wears if were winning games

06 Jul 2018 22:39:22
I prefer to see a manager in a suit too but let's be honest it doesn't really matter one bit does it?

06 Jul 2018 22:43:26
He could manage rangers in the buff for all I care just as long as he wins football games 🇬🇧

06 Jul 2018 23:51:15
I prefer the suit n tie also but if i'm being really honest if he brings number 55 he can wear a dress and high heels for all i care lol

07 Jul 2018 12:46:34
Got to be suit and tie for me as well. Tracky for tattie munchers

06 Jul 2018 19:29:19
Any streams for tonight's game.

06 Jul 2018 18:42:09

Noticed the squad numbers McGregor number 1 Murphy now number 7

06 Jul 2018 18:52:09
McGregor
Tav
Goldson
Katic
Flanagan
McCrorie
Arfield
Candeias
Windass
Murphy
Morelos

No Foderingham or Alnwick in the squad.

06 Jul 2018 16:55:50
I see that both Herrera and Forrester are back training with us - blowing out their arses by the looks of it.

Must be true that Herrera knocked back move.

06 Jul 2018 17:34:12
Heartbroken

06 Jul 2018 16:46:13
I think God leaving is a blow, Alan is a great keeper but did was arguably up there with our best performers for the past couple of seasons. If we get decent money then ok. I wish him well if this is true.

06 Jul 2018 16:55:56
Been one of our best performers over last couple seasons is nothing to shout about. good shot stopper is wes. But ball at feet, command his box and positioning is terrible. Lost count amount of times he got caught out terrible positioning and conceded a long range shot.

06 Jul 2018 16:19:33
Any thoughts on Chris long?

06 Jul 2018 16:40:25
Don't think I've ever had a single thought about Chris Long.

06 Jul 2018 17:25:37
Who's Chris long?

06 Jul 2018 20:34:00
Never heard of him. Shane longs dad?

06 Jul 2018 23:29:22
Chris Long has been at Auchenhowie and Stevie Gerrard has been running the ruler over him!

06 Jul 2018 16:05:39
I know we need a new striker/ strikers. I would like us to get a proper target man. Big Dunc style, we get bullies so much in the box sometimes and a hot man would be ideal especially if we are playing 3 5 2. Good crosses in the box. Just my opinion though. Although in saying that there are not many like that anymore.

06 Jul 2018 16:55:54
I don’t particularly care how hot he is, if he’s a good striker I wouldn’t care if he’s positively ugly.

06 Jul 2018 17:17:04
Belter German lol nearly spat out my fajita there

06 Jul 2018 14:16:12
i know its only bury tonight bears but i'm buzzing to see the new look squad and steve g, s first match at buckinham stadium, looking forward to see what formation he goes for and the high tempo football he's installing, let's go.

06 Jul 2018 15:20:19
Will be two well matched teams in regard to quality. Bury are no mugs.

06 Jul 2018 19:50:46
is this the same Bury team that finished rock bottom if League 1 that u think are a decent side?

06 Jul 2018 21:07:01
Boogiebear naw mate just naw

06 Jul 2018 23:56:19
Aye a well matched 6 nil pumpin, to be fair I wasn't expecting that, more of the same next week will do me nicely. I like the look of Middleton looks a player.

06 Jul 2018 13:06:47
Still feel we need

• 2 Qaulity Strikers ( Umar and a real proven qaulity striker who’s reliable Morelos is a liability imo and missed solid chances against tns and none the less to improve players Morelos needs competition!

•Qaulity Winger preferably on the Right Wing
as I want someone who can compete with Candias or even better than him. Left wing is fine imo we Have Murphy and I think this could be Middleton’s break out season and Arfeild can also player there.

• 2 Box To Box CMs Simone who’s versatile who can play as a holding midfielder and even playe behind the striker, yeh we a lot off players in that position but it’s quality over quantity and I feel we’re missing a midfielder in that position with proper class along with Arfeild.

Another Center- Back
To complete with Katic and Goldson with the same Qaulity as them, We’ve been linked with jake copper who I’ve seen in the past and was brilliant. hopefully it happens as i feel our defence will be ready for next season if we sign him.

I think we’re 5 or 6 signings short off having a great window, it’s early days still and stevie g has already made great signings that were better than expected so no doubt it should continue

06 Jul 2018 13:42:54
Need to be realistic. I’d be pleasantly surprised if we sign more than another 2 players and then it will be loans. On paper the players we have brought in improve us and hopefully 1 or 2 of the young lads break through.

06 Jul 2018 13:52:24
Unfortunately your probably right but I’d still see us bringing in at least 4 more 5-6 would probably be a stretch unless we sell more players. Guys Like Dorrans and Windass I’m hoping grab there chance but if they don’t impress me in the Europa league then I’d hope they would be sold by the end off the transfer window I just haven’t been impressed with them but windass does look sharp in training so there is that.

06 Jul 2018 14:30:35
We are still not strong enough to have a serious run in Europe and win the league. The loss of Rossiter is a major blow to the midfield and we will need to bring in a quality player if e is going to be a long term absentee. We need back up for centre back and we need a quality striker. So for me that is a minimum of three new players, all capable of going directly into the first team. Of course we also need to exit those that simply are not good enough and while work is in progress on this I would hope that Halliday and Hodson are gone before the season starts!

06 Jul 2018 12:38:58
This needs tobe our year the board need to throw everything at it as feel next season could be a struggle. We need to win this league and get into that champ league next year because if the unclean sell say kt and dembel say 30 mill plus and manage to qualify for champ league that's another 30 odd mill i really fear that we will really struggle to match them for years to come unless a major investor pumps millions into us

SO lads let's get behind the team every player staff as we need to fight for every blade of grass every game a cup final as underdogs make every single player that we play against wake up the next day say to them selfs f*** me that was tough load n proud let's go.

06 Jul 2018 13:10:20
Celtic going for Youvil star?!? Lose out on young Wilson at Liverpool. my point being is they refuse to spend. They haven’t improved last years team. This is the year we have to go for it. Like old times if we beat the rest this year then it’s all down to the old firm games. LET’S GO 🔴⚪️🔵

06 Jul 2018 14:05:32
Got to disagree. Celtic have never invested the CL or money generated from player sales. Why would they constantly be looking at loan players or projects if they could afford the finished article? Let’s allow Gerrard to build a squad capable of challenging Celtic over a couple of windows.

06 Jul 2018 14:33:27
Guys like Dermot Desmond don't invest just for the love of the game, or that team. They invest because they expect to receive a dividend which they get every year. That is why, if our Board are up for the challenge, we can quickly take back our rightful place at the top of Scottish Football!

06 Jul 2018 15:36:19
celtic need their champs league money to pay their massive wage bill. if they don't make the groups then they will sell a few players to cover the loss. fair enough Tierney is probably worth 20 million in the English inflated market but I can't see them getting anywhere near 30 million for dembele, not this window anyway.

06 Jul 2018 12:23:59
Home leg next week on bt sport.

06 Jul 2018 12:59:56
Looks like the tv companies are going to push the boat out competing for Stevie G coverage! That and a swing towards us on the pitch will ignite a massive timplosion 😂😂😂

06 Jul 2018 11:42:52
Is anyone else worried that we really only have one decent striker at the moment and that is Morelos and even then there is rumours he could be away to Fenerbahce.

Okay Umar Saqid looks likely to come in on loan but still not good enough imo we need more attacking power up front

Yeah we have been linked with Defoe, Ings, Solanke etc but there is a good chance none of them will be in a rangers top come the start of the season. And I haven’t heard any whispers or rumours of any “realistic” targets for us in that position.

Also lead to believe the Coulbailly deal is off as he is staying in France. That’s ashame he looked like he could of been a good addition to the squad!

06 Jul 2018 11:55:10
I'm worried you think Morelos is a decent striker!

06 Jul 2018 12:28:53
He is the best we have though.

He was our top goal scorer last season.

Go name a better striker that we have then👀

06 Jul 2018 13:07:17
We don't diesnt mean he's a good striker even his performance the other day by ask account was a series of missed chances again

06 Jul 2018 14:02:16
Dlc and how is he not any good explain

06 Jul 2018 14:38:07
I am concerned that we have only really strengthened our defence. Arfield was signed before Gerrard's arrival and we are still lacking a midfield enforcer or someone with a bit of skill like I was hoping Rossiter would provide. Our attack is also very light and an injury to Morelos and we have problems. We have some very good youngsters, (and I include Docherty and McCrorie in that), but we need some top quality older heads or guys with a proven track record at a higher level to help Gerrard bring them on.

06 Jul 2018 16:48:31
I'm surprised no-one ever mentions the likes of Big Fat Kris Boyd or Kyle Lafferty on here as good options for you boys. Proven goal scorers scoring consistently for (marginally) poorer teams. I reckon either or would do a good job for you and could help you close the gap on Aberdeen, and nearer your budget than the names constantly mentioned too.

06 Jul 2018 17:11:59
Gersman Good strikers never have the fail rate he has from prime striking positions his miss rate in the big games is shocking look at his stats he's never ever a top class striker yes he appears to work hard but there's not much at the end of it read reports on TNS game exactly the same
Listen we all have opinions or these forums would be pointless you obviously think he's good I don't end of

06 Jul 2018 11:06:00
I feel that we should play morelas in the number 10 roll similar to where we normally play windy as he has better work rate than windy and his hold up play has been brill we just need a decent no 9 to make the runs behind him.

I would prefer de foe to ings as i think he will stay fit for the season.

I also still think we need a really hard tall imposing centre mid neale cooper t hurlot type not much skill just an out n out ball winner as Skill wise i think the current mid field are prob the best in the league, however i still feel that spoon nicam and the big jewish guy are stronger and will continue to bully our midfield.

I still think we need 6 players
2 strikers one a target man one a poacher a decent winger or promote middleton. A ball winning killer mid fielder the scotland boy mctominy at man utd would love to see him on loan and another centre half or 2.

06 Jul 2018 11:29:26
Most skillfull midfield in the league, your having a laugh pal! definitely too old, take Ings all day!

06 Jul 2018 11:37:43
great post stewarty blue. I've said in previous posts we need a hard midfielder box to box somebody to stick it in when the going gets tough. jedinik of villa, would do a shift in midfield. strikers could be origio of liverpool belguim striker on loan in germany good striker along with ings would be a great loan. ings hard working striker would be a great signing. we need some strength in spine of team. defoe will be on big wages and at 36 i'd say no. just my thoughts london jock

06 Jul 2018 12:07:18
Yes imo chill dorrens arf jack doch are more skillful players than spoon and nicam however in the prev old firm games they have been inaffective and easily bullied out of game.
Would u agree that defoe is a better player than kenny mil. How many goals to miller score when fully fit and was playing week to week. I agree that ings is a better propect with a sell on value however his injury record is appalling and 30k plus a week is a expensive gamble.

I feel this year is our best chance at winning the league and would prefer a proven goal scorer at every level for a year than a gamble of one that has played a handful of games in 2 seasons. Defoe would score 20 plus goals up here. I can't say i'm that comfident that ings would remain fit enough to score 20 plus but only my opinion pal

06 Jul 2018 12:44:42
Windass will continue to play No 10 and will continue to score and create goals for us.

06 Jul 2018 13:37:07
To play as a no.10 you must be able to 1.have an eye for a killer pass and 2.be able to execute said pass morelos can't control the ball and is a terrible passer of the ball so for me never a no 10

06 Jul 2018 13:58:10
stewarty blue i agree moralos would be great at number 10 role, he does hold the ball up well and you can't fault his workrate. he hasn't had a bad season has he. herrera absolute disaster. won't waste commentating on. defoe at 36 for me doesn't do it, he won't be long term will he defoe for a season on loan? we still need better players to come in centre back, centre mid,2 strikers. london jock

06 Jul 2018 14:42:34
Hopefully Windass will benefit considerably from working with Gerrard but I don't see Dorrans doing anything and I think he will struggle to get game time assuming of course that he is ever fit enough and strong enough to fit in with Gerrard's style of play. I saw nothing from him last season that suggests he will be. As for Jack, only time will tell but I remain to be convinced and I do worry that Rossiter will not be capable of playing a full season and for me he is the best midfield player at Rangers.

06 Jul 2018 15:33:50
Morelos as a no 10? Really? For me I would be punting him, his chance to goals conversion is dreadful. Yes maybe he hold the ball up well with his back to the defence etc but his finishing is poor and link up play going forward, ie to players forward is just not good enough, however maybe Stevie G will get him to be more lethal

06 Jul 2018 10:37:25
BT Sport showing the first leg if you can't get a ticket because it will be SOLD OUT!

06 Jul 2018 10:29:28
BT sport showing our first leg of Europa league Ya dancer!

06 Jul 2018 10:36:03
still tickets available

06 Jul 2018 09:43:17
think we are doing some good business hopefully more to come. we pay low wages in comparison so the manager and his team are really helping attract decent players. was surprised at how low flanagan weekly pay was! 4k.

06 Jul 2018 11:53:28
Flanagan only on low wages cause of his horrible past, no one else would take him so he took the only deal on offer to him

06 Jul 2018 12:39:47
4k per wk and 5k per game

06 Jul 2018 12:40:58
ChilliNachos. wow you really know your stuff. no other club would touch Flanagan. how do you know this fact? R u a scout, manager maybe. or a seasoned reporter? No chance that Mr Gerrard just wanted to move quickly?

06 Jul 2018 13:12:01
Dutch I'm just a rangers fan with his eyes open! Your either clueless to Flanagan's past or choose to ignore it? He's was offered to numerous clubs, we were the only ones desperate enough to take him, try deny it all you want! He's a decent enough talent but his sordid past put all other clubs off, except us!

06 Jul 2018 15:13:00
your wrong. he had 3 other offers.

06 Jul 2018 15:28:21
ChilliNacho. good to know that you've never made a mistake. Congratulations

06 Jul 2018 09:35:56
Just Got round to watching the Full Highlights from the game against the new saints. Might only be 4 minutes but definitely does give a good insight. Have to say was impressed with Middleton looks the real deal. some concerns were at the top seen Morelos missed a good few chances and whoever the number 4 was quite poor aswell not too sure who he was thoug, On another note watched the full training vids aswell and seen the defence dril had Tab, Goldson, Katie, Flanagan at the 4. maybe how our back 4 will be starting and Flanagan in over John? But yeh anyway looking forward to tonight here’s hoping stevie’s 1st match at ibrox starts with a win!
