Don't really know academy boys too well but disappointed from what I can tell no one seems to be pushing for promotion to the right full back position in the first team squad. Recall watching on RTV the youngsters beating Celtic a couple of times over the last few years and we looked to have athletic and big lads at the back including Right Full back.

07 Jan 2019 09:50:54
Bankie, Jordan Houston is a very good rb.

07 Jan 2019 12:53:30
Jboy21, he is turning 19, surely by that age if good enough should be in and around 1st team squad. Picking on RB position because we lack genuine competition there and crying out for a good young one to make a claim. Hopefully you Jordan will figure in second half of season.

06 Jan 2019 18:53:33
obviously the recent 2 oldie but goodie players signed on its short term with the league now a necessity in sg first term--the 2 d's will help win the league and new signings are for the champions league next august plus a few more stars to come in the summer transfer window-good times indeedy.

07 Jan 2019 02:07:27
Don't get ahead of ourselves. I would just like to finish second and if possible stop the treble!

07 Jan 2019 07:47:50
So72

Why would any Rangers fan like to finish 2nd?

06 Jan 2019 14:29:02
If the rumours of Katic's dad being terminally ill and the boy struggling are true, would anyone be against loaning him out to a Croatian club for half a season? We've been linked to a few centre halfs and if one were to come in, I think it would do the boy the world of good?

06 Jan 2019 14:46:27
If true then yeah this would be a good idea. Would be much better for his mental health as well as the game time improving him as a player.

06 Jan 2019 15:29:30
If it’s true it’s a terrible for Katic and I am sure Steven and the team will be there for him🇬🇧.

06 Jan 2019 15:58:01
Absolute reiterate everyone above and their much heartfelt comments,
regarding our centre half, nikola katic! This is when football is put into perspective! My heart goes out to katic! I would think our club and manager steven gerrard, would sort something out for the boy!

06 Jan 2019 17:20:02
Best move all round.

06 Jan 2019 20:05:10
Whatever is in the boy’s best interest will take place. Personally I think the boy has terrific potential and is an out and out defender.

06 Jan 2019 22:39:12
Terrible news. Bad enough but made worse by the lad not being there for his dad. Thoughts are with him.

Reading on Sky Sports News that Defoe has completed his medical and will join up with the rest of the squad Monday.

Defoe in for 18 months he will certainly do the job and bring us more goals along with Alfredo.

Also on the other signings.

Jones is a fast skill full winger who should provide goals and also get on the score sheet from time to time I’m excited to see what he can do in a rangers shirt!

Although I don’t know much about Kamarai I’m from Dundee and the Dundee fans speak very highly of him he is apparently “to go for there team and they were lucky to have him for the period of time” so looks like rangers have picked up a solid player in Kamara also.

Davis a 6 month deal? I know people prob think that’s strange but I am hoping it’s just so he runs down his contract and we can sign him permanently at the end of the season because we all know who will walk it up in Scotland for us!

Also hearing that Curtis Tilt is back on our radar.? Could just be gossip but if it’s not and it’s true do you think he is good enough for us and do we need him? I think Worrall needs to go he just isn’t good enough imo!

06 Jan 2019 11:09:12
Jenny how on earth can you say that about Worral after the old firm game? Honestly get a grip my friend.

06 Jan 2019 11:19:15
Oh ok so he puts a shift in against the tims. One game doesn’t make up for all the other awful performances pal! He’s been rubbish! Katic need to get back in the squad with Goldson that worked at the start of the season!

06 Jan 2019 11:54:56
Haha how can she not say it molsgoals because he played well in the old firm game and a decent game in Spain. All the other games he’s atrocious, he isn’t good enough end of.

06 Jan 2019 12:22:28
None of our centre backs have stood out. The only collosal performances we've had so far have been by Worrall. I get his heart isn't here and he'll never be our player but at least he gives his all for us while he is! Unlike ejaria, Sadiq etc. Goldson and katic have made more mistakes than Worrall. Not slating either 1 of them but I hate it when we make certain players a scapegoat for no good reason.

06 Jan 2019 14:22:26
Don't agree Brian 1987.Connor goldson has stood out for me and IMO, is by far our best centre half!
Apart from a couple of below par performances, goldson has been a rock for rangers! I can assure you that worrall has made more mistakes than goldson this season!

06 Jan 2019 14:35:02
Goldson by a far is our best CB even though he hasn’t performed to the standard when he 1st joined he still out performs any other CB.

06 Jan 2019 15:33:10
I have been a massive critic of Worrell but forget sometimes Forest have sent him up here for playing time and experience. He was excellent against the Tim’s and has to keep this up but a bit pricey for us🇬🇧.

06 Jan 2019 15:44:17
Worrell was outstanding against Celtic, class act.

06 Jan 2019 15:54:32
Supercoopeleven. What about his og against spartak? Or mistake that led to Dundee goal? Goldson is a good defender but to say he has stood out out is over the top. Early season he was great and more recently he has been solid but had a severe wobble in the middle. Worrall isn't perfect but the grief he gets is unreal. Just because he's a loan player who sees his future at his parent club? Ridiculous. At least he's honest and gives his all while he is here.

06 Jan 2019 15:58:44
Yately I don't particularly like him and if he left tomorrow I'd thank him for his time. and wish him well, but I wouldn't miss him. Point is he has came up big in big games. I love goldson but he is far from perfect. Probably fatigue due to the fact he has only missed 1 game all season. 3 week break will be good for him.

06 Jan 2019 18:56:29
Goldson looked great up until the Celtic game at Parkhead with some real standout performances, particularly during the European qualifiers. IMO David Bates took more criticism during his run in the first team last season for performing better than Goldson has for the past few months.

I don't think rotating the pairing at centre half has helped Goldson and hopefully we can sort it for the second half of the season.

06 Jan 2019 20:38:51
If he can do it once against them he can again . never saw fanny Wilson sorry Danny Wilson put a shift like that in against them. in fact I saw him hand dumbelly a goal on a plate . Whatever happened to Danny is he playing well? anyhoo credit where credit due . well done Worral son for a great game against the manks . and thank you for putting your neck on the line fir us.

06 Jan 2019 10:04:51
I said last week on this site that it was on our local TV that Davis would only sign a loan contract until the end of his Southampton contract, thus keeping his £60,000 per week. Then after he is free if Rangers still want him he’ll sign under their offer, that scenario was in sky sports this morning.

06 Jan 2019 10:10:58
Wouldnt hold your hopes on that one. If that was the case why did he not sign a pre contract?

06 Jan 2019 10:38:16
That’s a good point phil.

06 Jan 2019 11:36:22
That's actually great news and believe its much the same with Defoe.

Got to remember not all signings go to plan or the players are not up to the expectations.

Great move by the club to make sure we are not lumbered with long term wages commitment at this stage.

06 Jan 2019 12:54:05
Best move all round surely regarding Davis. He gets to run down his contract on 60k a week from Southampton, we get to see if he is still the player he used to be before committing and no fee for him in summer for him if he and us decide to make it permanent.

06 Jan 2019 14:11:29
Phil

Possibly to see how he gets on and how his fitness is. If he doesn’t do well then we aren’t tied to him.

06 Jan 2019 15:35:34
It’s win win situation with Davis. He’s a great player but we are not getting the same player who left us. What a player he was and let’s hope he turns it on for us🇬🇧.

05 Jan 2019 22:54:47
First time post, Just putting out there after the first few years of the boards arrival a large section were not happy with the input they made I for one wasn’t over the moon with them but I felt they got us in a better position and where moving is fowerd rather than back with a few big bumps on the way what are people’s veiws on Dave king now?

And also I still feel the other side have a better overall team ( bearing in mind gerrard has only been in charge 6 months ) with that being said we have a team who will give over and above for the current management team and given a year or two more I recon.

The signings we are making we will be better overall which is high credit to the recruitment structure which has been shocking since 2011 we look to be singing players to get us challaging again I.e Davis and Defoe but also the precontact guys who are still young, so what do people recon we need now more young blood to give us potential for the years too come or a proven talent for the next year or two?

{Ed033's Note - I reckon you can't spell reckon. And what do you think the Rangers players should sing in order to get them challenging again? :)

06 Jan 2019 00:36:46
Blunose12, the only way to build is to do both. We had a big lack of experience which we are addressing, and while those players help us achieve our more immediate goals, it gives us breathing space to look a couple of years down the line. Kamara, Jones, Katic, Middleton and others will gradually feed into the team over that period to become the established players and from then on it should be a self perpetuating cycle.

06 Jan 2019 01:39:58
thanks for pointing that out ed 😂 will blame it on predictive text haha . agreed asayouth. think they are working more wisely now wish we had a young breed from years ago I know a lot of players haven’t made much of thereselfs I. e wyylde ness ect players like Macleod they must be kicking thereselfs could be establisead players now so hopefully players start to come through the youth system that we can look fowerd to and not need to sign younger players like Middleton (glad we did) to breed into the team, and Ed I would like to see a center half get singer not in need of one right now worral had a good game against them but Katic is in with reserves so would like a solid partnership that can get a whole season together think we are a solid back 4 and a few players too come back away from where we would need to be. Halliday has transformed tho so maybe Steve can get few other players playing at a higher level than previous, where would u like too see or who would u like to see us sign?

06 Jan 2019 11:41:33
Blue12, We have done great considering we are skint and have gambled on a rookie manager, 99% of us agree he needs to be given at least two season to see if he is a success for us.

I for one am convinced he "will" get us there, but maybe not till next season.

(would be outstanding result if he does it this season tho) .

06 Jan 2019 11:20:47
We are through to the semi final in the Mercedes benz junior Cup under 19 s. The team that is there is a very young team and they have played very well. Some great players of this generation have played in this tournament. Kelly, Palmer, Mayo, Mbude amoungst others have looked the part for us, against boys a year or 2 older. With the coaches we have now i think we will see more players from the academy make the grade.

06 Jan 2019 12:03:21
Yeah too right bluebilly, well even tho we are skint the board come up with the goods, as a said a wasn’t over the moon with the board when they came in made some bad desisions but I was happy they where there, given the mankymobs fortunes they have made and still sign people on low transfers and low wages and I think the more pressure that comes with the signings made I for one think Steve will thrive on the pressure and bring home the goods, been about 4 games this season (Aberdeen home and away, Hibs home and away) and few others which we should have won, get the wins the 2nd half and they will crumble under pressure as they haven’t had any for 5-6 years now.

06 Jan 2019 15:10:43
Kamara, can play . You only have had to have watched him against us home and away.
Takes the ball under pressure in tight spaces and has a great touch.
