As daft as it may sound Tierney was given a few years to show what he can do and got his big move. Hickey got to play and now he is getting tours of all the European giants. Patterson deserves the run based on talent but also Tav's poor form. Gerrard talks about competition for places but has never let Tav be challenged.

Think the lad Patterson does deserve a chance to prove himself with a run in the 1st team. We won’t know what he is like until this happens. As previously mentioned Tierney and Hickey were given their opportunity at a young age and look how they have flourished. If Gerrard is just going to use Patterson now and again then the lad is wasting his time at the club and would be better off going out on loan or leaving. Tavernier is one of the poorest defenders I’ve seen at the club recently and constantly makes the same mistakes.

Its plain to see that any team of any level can see that the way to attack the gers is on Tav's side of the park, we see it time and time again but because he is "captain" nothing gets done about it, i'm in my sixties now, and he has to be one of the worst full backs at defending that I have ever seen in my life!

Ok, hear me out before you all jump down my throat. I really hope a deal has been done for Morelos and he'll be away by the end of next week. Why, well because he's clearly not interested, he wants a fresh challenge and good luck to him, but if keeps playing the way he is and displaying the same attitude that he doesn't want to be here, then his value is dropping like a brick every day now. Also, his attitude runs the risk of affecting the whole team. I say if a deal hasn't been done, the first bid submitted, anything north of £10 million we take. Also, does Stevie play him v St Mitten if he's still here or does he go with Itten/ Roofe who'll be desperate to hit the ground running.

His movement was shocking, his first touch was worse than shocking and his incomplete passes stats would have been embarrassing. His fitness and sharpness is way off what it should be.

Why do our 'fans' continually down-price our best assets while the mhankies persistently talk up semi-decent players to ensure they get top dollar for them? We want £20m for Morelos and we will get it because nobody from real football nations base their estimates of players on temporary dips in form - they are a little more sophisticated than that.
He will get his move, we will get our price and we will all move on after giving thanks to Alfie for all this young man gave to our club - goals, great moments and a massive profit.

Yeh Morelos will be on the bench, to prevent his value plummeting any further due to his recent displays, and to protect the millions the club hope to get for him. Itten scored a hatrick in his last club match and will be fitter than Roofe, who is still building up match fitness. I think Itten will prove to be a steal at 2.5m (if reported value is true) . He's still young, recently got into his national team, and looks physically strong and a natural finisher in the air and on the ground. Admittedly, i had never heard of him until we signed him, but i think he will prove to be a great bit of business. Roofe can play wide or striker, so good versatility for mixing things up. Feeling confident that this can be the year. Looking forward to the squad bouncing about with the league trophy, what a day that would be!

What is clear at this level, assuming that this is the level we are wanting to be at now, that "workman-like" and "put in a shift" just ain't good enough. The midfield needs to be looked at and someone with tactical pedigree and good ball control is required. Hopefully this is being chased such as Zunga etc. Tav well that's another story altogether. Put the captaincy debate aside, captains aren’t what they were a decade or so ago, player mentality etc has changed vastly. More players need a cuddle and ego massaged nowadays than a finger pointing or hair drier treatment. I like Tav going fwd and his assists have been consistently impressive, however, when it comes to European teams he is clearly out his depth. How many times do we see him 10, 15 or 20 yards ahead of the defensive line and him making attempts to get back unsuccessfully. He was targeted again tonite with the spaces he leaves behind him. He’s out of his depth in euro games but then again he wasn’t the only one found chasing tonite.

I've been a big critic of Goldson especially last season. He continuously caused goals by his poor positional sense and his slack passing but he has been solid in pre season and the first 2 games to be fair. I also think he's the best communicator in the team. Balogun and Helander have both played well in the games they have played. Its a good problem to have but a tricky one for SG to sort out. I'd probably go for Goldson and Balogun on Sunday because Helander playing too much after coming back from injury is too risky.

Patterson is a tricky one for me, not because i don't think he doesn't have the ability (would be quite happy to go with him if Tav was to leave for example) however, this is a massive season for us and i'm not sure putting the weight of this season on a young players shoulders would be best for his progression, although the flip side o f that is how do we know he couldn't cope with the pressure if he doesn't play. If Tav's defensive issues start to creep into games then i would hope SG wouldn't wait until its too late to change things.

Jaws, I have also defended Tav, but on at least 4 occasions he gave the ball away or missed the tackle letting Leverkusen in on goal. On the game itself, I felt we were well organised and coping as they are a very good team, and we created a few chances of our own that we should have at least equalised with. The difference in our play when the subs were introduced was evident. On tonights evidence Barker isn't good enough, and, Steven Davis is going to be a bit part player from the bench. We have exceeded in Europe in this competition, and I feel we can kick on again this season. Good luck to Leverkusen, I hope they go on a win the competition. Oh, and Alfie needs his transfer to give him a new challenge, good luck to him.

On paper Jon Flanagan Would have been a more solid right back. Bottom line is we don’t have the team to compete what we were up against tonight. Do you think if Kent was skinning the captain of a division 1 side their fans would be screaming for the manager to sell him or drop him? A few have said Jack should be the captain then I’ve read on here tonight that we should ditch him and get a better defensive midfielder! guys let’s get a reality check, we got beaten by a more expensive team with better players, which is what we do to teams in our league. I’ve seen Tierney being ripped apart in Europe playing for them and he’s a far better full back than Tav, it happens.

No excuses for tonight. Yes Bayer are a top young team, but from the start it looked as though we couldn't be arsed. Stevie g didn't even change out of his tracksuit. First time I've seen a rangers manager in europe not wearing the famous tie. No excuse for heat. That tradition is older than any of us alive.
Poor distribution all round. It did look like a training match. A few weeks ago we were tremendous against nice and top champions League team Lyon. Tonight it looked dire. Alfie well off the boil and if the rangers management and training team can't see that tav is constantly caught out of position, giving the ball away and is crap in general, I don't know what's happened to rangers. He is the worst captain I think we've ever had. There can be absolutely no denying it. His all round game is just bad. Constant errors. He should just be an average midfielder who whips in not very good crosses. He has solely cost us goals in Europe many times. Again tonight. He has to be dropped. Hagi was dropped in favour of Barker because last game he was a bit off it. Tavs been off it for years.
I'm looking forward to the new season though and am just hoping that Gerrard has learned from his mistakes. Our formation has to change according to each team and we can't play 4-3-3 against everyone. That has been proven time and time again. If we win nothing this year, I don't know what will happen to the club. I'm just happy that none of us on here, spent money to go and watch that crap. No matter what, we all support gers in our own way. We complain at each other and bicker at comments, but we all want the best for RFC. This year has to be 55. If not, I'm off to buy a season ticket at stirling or Dumbarton.

Reality is even at our very very best Leverkusen would beat us, they are levels above where we are currently at. No point in saying we beat Nice and Lyon so that shows we can compete at those levels, that was a pre-season tournament where we played against Lyon's reserves and Nice who i don't think are that great a team anyway (just my opinion) .
I think the fact SG wore his tracksuit should tell us all the mentality we had going into that game, yes we were going to give it a go but there would come a time in the game where it would be about resting players and giving others game time, not a big issue for me.

Well some said we would score 3 some said 4, reality was we had one header on target in the whole 90 mins. Morelos value just dropped another £3m. Tav as too often responsible for the goal. Leverkusen pressed us hard as soon as we got the ball whereas we gave them time on the ball, not good tactics against a team as good as they are. Having said that, losing 1-0 is a good result away from home, but they were comfortable.

Muppet leverkrusen are and were qaulity no shame in 1-0 defeat to them game plan of hitting them on break didn't work but there game plan of not letting us play out from back four did snd they pressed us really well in scorching heat and are ckearly much more mach fit than us no complaints here wee had a great run and chalked up msny impressive victories along the way onto current season now the league is priority 100% effort and resources should be put into the league imo.

What has to be taken into account fellow bears is that leverkusen are on a different level to us and that's it in a nutshell! The Muppet,
tav of course has made mistakes defensively as we all know but for diaby's goal he actually tracked the run of diaby, but was simply done by the blistering pace of the guy, so on that tonight imo you're being too hard on tav! Sometimes you've got to hold your hands up and leverkusen in general were way too good for us.
But the positives have to be taken, as our european run again under gerrard has been superb. Now we move on to the domestic scene and our very important league game on sunday at ibrox, against st. mirren.
Morelos does look like a guy who's desperate to get a move away and i now honestly would sell him below our valuation, which of course is £18million! I'd sell him for £15million, if we can get that and i'm a big fan of alfredo!

God there are far to many top class managers on here no idea why none of you’d got the job before SG, let's just accept we were well beaten I’ve two legs by a class side with single players worth more than our team, I knew Alphie would be singled out for the bland but for me the team struggled against a class team if that’s Alphies last game I wish him all the best he is the main reason we got to the last sixteen and by the way first team ever to play four qualifiers and get to last sixteen never been done before Alphie scored fourteen goals on the way and put in some top performances but tonight was just a bit to far I can see that team winning it and I wish them all the best let get home get some rest and on to Sunday.

A bit of perspective needed. Leverkusen have players valued close to 100 million. Give the team a break. They have been outstanding in even getting to this stage. Never laid a glove on them. needed energy in middle of park and went with davis, who looks like the legs have well and truly gave up. Ofcourse he plays, he's a rangers player and these are the games which its all about for him. Don't understand the 'Stinker' term as I've not seen him have one of them for a while? Maybe a bit short of goals the now but his overall game is second to none.

Im sure they would have preferred more money but due to release clause we got him at a good price. If he hits the ground running he could be a player we eventually move on for a good fee in a couple of years. This is the sort of model our club needs right now in the days of inflated prices.
