What is wrong with Scottish football clubs all lining up to have dig rangers if it was the other way round rangers would help in some way

Believable3 Unbelievable12

The same way you helped airdrie??

and the same way you are helping dundee utd, hearts and dunfermline??

RANGERS are what's wrong with scottish football, ffs...do you not read?

Agree12 Disagree3

Dunfermline has been paid and i think hearts will be next mr no name lol, it is not fair how some bears say this and that about utd but the difference is, utd was the team with the most we had to pay back so paying back the smaller creditors then leaving utd till last i think. as much as a hate thompson he needs to be patient. and as much as it is our fault, we need money to SURVIVE. what i suggest though to show everybody that the bears are decent fans is to raise money for utd to help our team pay them. just a suggestion (LOYAL BEAR

Agree2 Disagree6

Class help like u did airdrie, cheats not champions, poor rangers my bum,

Agree5 Disagree0

The pars are getting sorted mate, think they've already a payment, hearts will get sorted aswell, as for utd... Couldn't give a f&ck about them
PaulRFC

Agree2 Disagree2

Check your facts loyal bear, dunfermline haven't been paid yet.

re: dundee utd, you're the only bear on here who HASN'T ripped into them and demanding that fans dont buy any tickets etc. but what i will say is that there's a lot more people than just rangers and celtic fans that look on this page, and all they see are posts from rangers fans wanting the whole of scottish football to implode if you go down the tubes which just shows the crass arrogance and ignorance of the rangers support.

if you wanted anyones sympathy, you have to act with dignity and self respect, and from the vast majority on here, those are 2 things evidently lacking within the rangers support

i do have a name btw, but my replies rarely get posted when i use it these days

Agree5 Disagree0

No bother mate, well i posted earlier but don't know if it has been posted though ( haven't checked but i will ed lol) that all the rangers fans should show everybody that we are decent and its just a bad minority thst wants them hanged, should help our team raise money for utd cos at the end of the day their are a business just like us (rangers) and obvcourse celtic, its a bit childish if you ask me mate, its like “ i don't want to go to school cos i don't like the teacher“ type thing lol, some of us bears need to grow up and see even though we have (celtic and rangers) have the biggest support and income the other teams need help no matter how much we are enemies, instead of being. f*** them etc we should be the better people and give them it , because a might be slated for this but am certain that the teddy bears would react the same if we were owed money. do appologise if my facts were incorrect mate. (LOYAL BEAR)

Agree2 Disagree0

Dunfermline are only getting paid because the SFL were about to take action not because Rangers decided to do the decent thing

Is anybody watchin the jim traynor documentary? quite interesting btw, bears? we need to adopt the falkirk approach! their approach beat our 1st team and pit us out the cup! ma hat goes off to elvis, well done falkirk, just showex everybody what your approach was and it worked! financially better and team technique is better, stewie

Believable3 Unbelievable1

Oh and to add, to anybody who didn't see it what falkirk did was set up a training programme within a local school, take on the best youngsters and sell them on once they are professionally developed. Obviously its a far more complicated work load lol, stewie

Agree2 Disagree0

My son is at Falkirk Academy and their set up is really good. Hats off to them.

Dennybear

Agree2 Disagree2

Dennybear? would you agree with me in takin this approach? like after this season has ended, (IF WE ARE STILL A CLUB) we should strip our team down, get the youngsters in a nd actually homegrow our next reserves? like falkirk is currently doin? for example, Wylde play him all next season and a few other youngsters he coukd fetch an easy 3 and a half mill if he proves well. And he COULD have a potentially very good sell on value. stewie

Agree0 Disagree0

I ve watched falkirk a couple of times this season and well you know what happened to us, some fantastic players 16 yrs old but they get a chance,no players really get that chance at ibrox im afraid to say and stay in the team..it will have to change especially after whats happening just now we might just be surprised. craig+babybear

Agree1 Disagree0

What every club in this country should have been doing for the last however long you mean?!? It's hardly rocket science is it! Produce players with some level of technique who can do amazing things like actually kick a ball with both feet in return for thousands of pounds a week!

These far-sighted findings were all established twenty years ago and we have gone backwards at warp speed five since then, so I wouldnae hold my breath if I were you.

Agree0 Disagree0

I'm just saying where my son plays - not agreeing or disagreeing that it is the way forward. What I will say is that they have right good crop of players from 10-16yrs

Agree0 Disagree0

Feyenoord is another club that had problems, and then starting playing their youth players, and now they are currently only 5pts adrift in the Eredivise.

any word on whats happening with potencial takeover bids surely no new owner will want the squad broken up that it will cost way to much to replace, surely more cost effective if we keep these players until the end of the season and sell who coisty doesnt want than let them walk away for nothing.. wait for it the administrators will make a bigger mess than whyte just hope he isnt pulling the strings from far away, always said that c**t was a closet tim out to shut us down....lol

Believable0 Unbelievable0

Reports that the administrators bill is in the region of £100,000 per week! Also claimed that the rangers players want wage defferals, problem is the admin team cant do this as it would be classed as creating more debt.So why another day to think about something they cant do? Maybie the weekly bill might have something to do with it?

05 Mar 2012 22:31:14
Ed, can we change the name of this page from rangers banter page to obsessive Celtic supporters page.
Everytime a gers fan posts a valid point it is quicky hit with dislikes.
These Celtic fans must have too much time on their hands switching between different fans pages, then again they are probably never on their own page , too busy being obsessed about rangers

If the speculation around secret payments and 2 contracts is true, then every chairman, director, manager, agent and player who know about, allowed, offered, facilitated, negotiated and signed one of these contracts has contributed to bringing this illustrious club to it's knees through nothing else other than sheer greed. And now the people that are suffering are the fans who spend their hard earned money and the innocent staff members who's livelihoods and modest salaries are earned through by carrying out a proper days work.

Believable8 Unbelievable4

Great post and dead right.........green jhedi

Only problem would be is people are gonna walk away head down from this and only a few will get blamed, i cant see spl/sfa hammering everybody involved it would make them look bad i think it will be kept at us... but we must of had people on board that knew it breaks rules, we should get hit for it if its true ... craig+babybear

PLEASE CONFIRM. Rangers go into liqi, Can they apply English league or would UEFA stop it due to cross border application. (if you can ED) {Ed001's Note - no one can confirm or deny because it is a unique case. The most likely situation is that it would be blocked by UEFA, but it is by no means certain that Rangers couldn't appeal to the EU. Until someone tries we will never know.}

Believable0 Unbelievable1

Just a thought would that then not come under restriction of trade laws ED? If they did try to block setting up down south although i don't want this to happen, were a Scottish club and should remain so. {Ed001's Note - Rangers would certainly have a case to argue that, but UEFA would expect to win as sports are treated as a special case by the EU.}

Agree0 Disagree0

Surely the only argument rangers could have is Cardiff and swansea as they are technically cross border teams in premiership and championship.

Alex cee {Ed001's Note - no, they could not base any argument on those two teams, they are irrelevant to any discussion here whatsoever and I wish people would stop fixating on them. They were in the English leagues before there were any Welsh leagues for them to join, they did not move out of their own league to join the English league. The argument that could be used is a lot more simple, Scotland is part of the UK, it is not currently a separate country to the EU. So Rangers could argue that they are crossing no borders and are simply trying to join a different league within their own country. The problem with that is that the SFA would fight tooth and nail to stop it, due to UEFA and FIFA being desperate to get rid of the 4 home countries associations and merge them into 1 to reduce their power. The SFA case for remaining a separate FA would be severely weakened if Rangers won entry into English football by that argument.}

Watched an interview on SS on Saturday
regarding possible liquidation of Portsmouth FC ,they were talking to a council official
who stated that if the club folded it could be
bought within a 21 day period,savings its name and history,do you know ED if this rule would apply in Scotland. {Ed001's Note - a lot depends on who buys it as well, I believe it is not as simple as just being bought within 21 days.}

Believable1 Unbelievable1

Oh aye, a council official will be a well known expert on this sort of thing.

You give Celtic a back handed compliment in saying Celtic would have won the league without 10 points deduction give them credit for going 25 games winning running, yet you still get Celtic fans wanting to argue with you, are you really that bitter.
Here's a lesson accept defeat with grace, but also accept winning with grace and manners.

OK...just a quick suggestion but should Rangers have no alternative but to be liquidated and the option for the "newco" is to apply for entry to either the SPL, (however this would be difficult due to several issues relating to chairmen of clubs protecting the short term interests against the the long term ), relegation to the Scottish 3rd division.
Would it not be in our interests to apply to the English FA for entry into the lower leagues?
this was discussed several years ago and tbh...would rather spend 5-10 years in the wilderness in England with the goal of EPL...rather than the Scottish lower leagues?
We would still have a home support in excess of 15-20K per home game and with teh increase in TV revenue...would make more sense to me?

Believable3 Unbelievable1

You would also have to play in england............green jhedi

Agree0 Disagree0

05 Mar 2012 21:20:19
I really do worry about the state Scottish football will be in if Rangers go to the 3rd division.
Nobody will invest in a one horse race, /TV companies will not be interested, players will not want to come and play here, Celtic fans will become bored of winning the league by 20+ points a season and getting horsed in Europe due to lack of competition.

But if that is what some fans want then wish on..... Just remember no Rangers fans paying over the odds prices to enter your sub standard stadiums, and bring 5 times as many home fans that you have,

Tommy

Believable5 Unbelievable7

No we won't. We are Celtic supporters faithful through and through. If you need to start from the 3rd div then so be, rangers are not Scottish football

Bman

Agree6 Disagree2

Neither is celtic bman, you tryin to say us bears are not faithful through and through? its our old board that wasn't faithful! just remember this, see if the shoe was on the other foot? you would be all hurting to, what has happened was outwith the fans control from the very beginning, with the whyte part the fans didn't have a say! murray was told to sell up and he couldn't wait a long time because quite frankly he wanted out QUICK. our decent fans are left to pick up the pieces and some poor fan will pick up a torn badge “Hopefully not“ the fans and the players and the staff which involve keeping ibrox in tip top shape are THE REAL VICTIMS. stewie

if the admin cant create more debt why on earth did they try to sanction the daniel cousin deeal so desperatley? the whole process stinks, why handpick these administrators ? why is it taking so long for anything to be done? i lost my mundane job when admin came calling 50% of staff going within a week . dundee motherwell livingstone all had job losses quickly we are now 21 days into this farce and still none the wiser. im glad no one has faced the sack but that is why i think its all a big con that is happening at the club right now. just when i think im used to the days news more s**t hits the fan in the morning, deadline for buyers? iv been a rangers fan all my life but if i was totally abramavich minted why say you will throw money away until this mess is sorted out . Ed could it be if liquadation hapens n newco starts could it be possable for ibrox to be auctioned if so could newco money men be outbided by a supermarket say,n what other negative problems like that could occur apart from history etc, {Ed001's Note - if Ibrox belongs to Rangers, which isn't entirely certain, and the club folds, then all assets would be auctioned off. It could end up in the hands of anyone with the money to buy it.}

Believable1 Unbelievable0

05 Mar 2012 20:44:26
Ed I have a question for you or anyone else who might know. IF we get liquidated and come back as a newco phoenix club would we still be playing at Ibrox? and if not then where would we play? {Ed001's Note - it depends. If the ownership of Ibrox has been transferred to a company that then raises a phoenix club, yes. If the new company buys or rents Ibrox, yes. Otherwise, no.}

Believable0 Unbelievable0

05 Mar 2012 20:28:14
Ed, any idea how many british teams use or used ebt's? What will happen them if hmrc win 'the big tax case?' i'd predict a lot of clubs going to the wall! {Ed001's Note - I really don't even want to get into speculating on this mate, EBTs themselves aren't an issue. It is when they are misused that there is a problem.}

Believable0 Unbelievable1

Around the same period of time when Rangers started using EBT 3 current SPL used EBT, it involved four players between these three clubs, however the three clubs stopped using EBT after a short time, would been very interesting to see how deep the SFA investigation go. Bear in mind EBT wasnt just paid to players, was paid to at least one manager.

Das Shadow

Agree1 Disagree1

To the person who pressed disagree, this present day EPL manager accountant wrote the HMRC asking about reclaiming bank interest from a missing EBT payment.

Das Shadow

Agree1 Disagree1

Aye and several Rangers Directors.

Agree0 Disagree1

I cant comment on that cause i dont know about the directors. i only know about players and one manager, makes me wonder how deep the SFA investigation will go, cause he was employed by the SFA and still getting EBT payments from his previous employer.

Das Shadow

Agree0 Disagree0

I don't understand why people still have a problem understanding this EBT thing.
EBT's are NOT illegal, and whether other teams are still using them or not is irrelevant.
the problem is that rangers were using them ILLEGALLY, basically admonishing the player/manager/director from paying tax.

it doesn't matter how deep the sfa investigate, it's HMRC that are the ones with the facts and figures on who is cheating and who is not, and clearly, as it stands, rangers are the only ones so far found to be cheating

taco

Agree3 Disagree0

Ive not said EBT are illegal, just stating that it wasnt just players that was getting EBT and other teams also used EBT. I was responding to the the first post.

Without trying to be a financial whizz kid.....why would anyone of sound mind wish to buy rangers? At present, they don't have any great source of income, the club shops have been sold, the catering has been sold, the Albion has been sold, the jerseys have been sold for the next 5 years or so, God knows how many season tickets have been sold in advance for the next three years, add the wee- and big tax case being allowed to be paid back over a set period, rebuilding the team, repairs desperately required at ibrox, not to mention is whyte is to go then he will require a pay off. Even for the most rangers minded billionaire it's a no brainer.

I am getting fed up with other fans, including the manky mob, saying that they will survive without us. I am sure they will but only if they want to watch the same standard as the League of Wales and Northern and southern Irish football. But it isn't just football, what about all the other parts of the equation, bus companies, drivers, caterers, workers, programme publishers, public transport etc etc etc. all the money spent by 50,000 going to the game affects all sorts of areas, so go ahead and gloat but there is more to Rangers going out of business than you appreciate and less money in the economy means there will be less tax paid by these companies/people. Ironic eh!

Believable8 Unbelievable4

What a stupid post.Stop whining! If you want someone to blame start with Murray, then the rest of your board including your blue knight paul murray.Pay off's and the knock on effect is all their fault, and you whine about people wanting justice!Of course we feel sorry for anybody losing a job in these times but IT'S THEIR FAULT.All this was pointed out nearly two years ago, various people flagged it up,but remember the "timmy lies" If only you had listened you might have mobilised, but you were too busy being the "peepil".Well it's time to face the cold, hard, and uncomfortable facts.Less tax paid by these companies? Keep your bitterness to yourself because you cross the line of banter far too often and show yourself in your true colours. You are only glad this has happened so you can bring out your pent up bile and pretend it is banter. The truth is you know you are jealous and all your life you just wanted to be a Rangers fan but didn't have the bottle to make the mone to the west end of the city!

There are so many of the other mob desperate for the Gers to fold, this only shows how thick they are. I'm a Gers fan all my life but I would dread Celtic getting into financial bother. We need each other for the good of the game and financially.
They would soon get tired of playing all the smaller teams and their gates would drop as their fans got bored with the lack of competition.

Believable8 Unbelievable6

The Celtic would be in ENGLISH FOOTBALL within two seasons

Agree2 Disagree8

And if 'the other mob' were in danger of folding, there would be a great number of Rangers fans desperate for it to happen. You do realise this? If you remember 1994, you'll know it was true then as it would be now.

1903

Agree4 Disagree2

I doubt it because they have some good players and can play exciting football. and looks like they could have a run in europe with the team they have/are building, looks like glory days ahead for them on many levels!

Agree3 Disagree3

Rubbish. i know a lot of celtic fans who would never sit in the same stadium as you lot. dont want to listen to your twisted bile. we really, really, really dont care what happens to you.

Agree3 Disagree1

Funny how it was ok when rangers could spend 12 million on one player, most fans dont want to see rangers fold but would like to see them on their knees financially for a few years...the same way every other club in scotland was when rangers where spending money they never had, rangers have nobody but themselves to blame for the mess they created.

Agree3 Disagree0

Cant agree. DM quote of £10 for £5 would seem to suggest that he would squash any challenge and you "followers" were only too happy to go along for the ride. Whats the difference if rangers fold or come back as small fry? same scenario surely

Agree2 Disagree0

Who said they could have a run in Europe? Honestly, they couldn't get through their Europa League group, they have no chance in the CL

Agree3 Disagree2

Thick?

listen, we're not the ones who thought the whyte knight was a billionaire, and wouldn't listen when told otherwise.

we're not the ones who are repeatedly warned about sectarian singing, yet every week show contempt by ignoring such warnings.

we're not the ones who try to blame HMRC, SFA, SPL, lloyds, Celtic, Neil Lennon, newspapers, dundee utd, referees, when the only ones to blame are yourselves.

we're not the ones with wacky, pie-in-the-sky ideas about joining the EPL and la liga (PMSL)

we're not the ones who have brought the game into disrepute, and try to devalue the position of other teams who play by the rules.

we're not the ones who think we need each other.
There is no Old Firm. There is only Celtic.

We're not the ones who will be bored with the lack of competition....how is the 3rd division competitiveness these days?

Lets face up to the fact Bears, before we went into admin, a few rangers support was wanting Ally sacked, even now some are still wanting him sacked. Celtic (and it pains me to say it) have been on a 25 game winning running. Celtic would have won the league this season without the 10 points been taken off.

Das Shadow

Believable10 Unbelievable5

But with the 10 points deduction we will never know.

Agree2 Disagree5

Agree mate our home record is absolutely shocking, we would have lost the league because of that i just hope it doesnt happen on the 25th, ill still be there though...craig+gettingbigbabybear

We've lost the last three games at home, never in our history have we lost 4 games in a row at Ibrox.

Das Shadow

Agree0 Disagree1

Rangers had no chance, who was going score the goals to win the league?

Agree1 Disagree1

Rangers broke the financial rules all clubs are bound by. They have been legitimately deducted 10 points , they haven't been robbed. The gap is 21 points.

Agree1 Disagree1

Who said Rangers was robbed, christ you give Celtic a back handed compliment and Celtic fans still want to argue.

Das Shadow

Agree0 Disagree0

Thought I'd drop a wee blog to the Rangers supporters of the ilk of das who, although it pains them to say so, admit that Celtic are vastly superior than rang rs at the.moment. let's be honest it has been coming for years, and no doubt in the future you will return and give us a chllenge. So I will hae a wee swally as your titles are taken from you and hope you rise from the ashes of your destroyed club to become our nemesis once again. 14 titles in a row and counting. MMI2009

Theres 3 possible outcomes here:

1. Get shot of all the high earners and the club struggle through, but thanks to Craig Whyte and David Murray, it will take years to get back to being a farce.

2. Liquidation and new company, meaning no history and no assets left.

3. Someone with a spare £100m buys the club, Whyte gets his cash and Club survive.

Either way........Jelly and Ice Cream!!

Believable5 Unbelievable5

How can it be either way when you have 3 options.. anyway dont worry about us.. we have enough fans to do that... enjoy your jelly and ice cream as i am sure you will, better hurry though in case kris commons nicks it....... helicopter sundae for me craig+babybear(now full after that sundae)

Guys I so not want anyone to lose their jobs but the statement just read out on TV is quite astounding and really leaves me thinking that these administrators have not got a clue how to handle this situation.
As I said I do not wnt anyone to lose their job but the admin team say nothing else happening today as we can not come to an agreement with the players ? These guys are just being too easy going and will end up being kicked by the court of session who will then reappoint their own administrators.

Diamond Geezer

Believable4 Unbelievable0

Mibby dragging it out coz they are on 6 hunner pound an hour, working (as an administrator should) for the major creditor(craig whyte)???

Agree3 Disagree1

From what I am understanding, the main area of dispute is that the players want a wage deferal and the administrators want a wage reduction.

With a deferal the players wages will be reduced between now and the end of the season, and then the shortfall paid to the players at the end of the season.

With a wage reduction, this would see wages reduced permanently.

I can understand the players not wanting to take a reduction. However, the reality is that Rangers need to reduce costs by £1m a month. Where do the administrators find the money from at the end of the season to pay the shortfall incured by the wage deferral. There is simply no money to do this.

The administrators cannot force a wage reduction and have alreday said they will not agree to a wage deferral.

It very much looks like that if the players don't accept wage reductions then there will be redundancies tomorrow.

Agree2 Disagree0

Administrators cant sanction a wage defferal as thats creating more debt, the last thing an admin team can do

The whole world going to see Rangers for what they are, liars, frauds, cheats! Rangers FC- Winning tainted titles since 1872

If Rangers start a newco, what is better from their perspective, be in the SPL but with hefty points deductions for three seasons. Or start in the third division and make our way up each season. Whats everyone's opinion? You as well ed?

GovanFR {Ed001's Note - I doubt there will be any choice but to start down in the 3rd Division. But I would personally prefer to work my way up from the bottom, then no one can say you have got preferential treatment.}

Believable8 Unbelievable1

To be honest, I'm beginning to think that it would be better to start at the bottom. Low running costs for a few years and a real chance to rebuild and re-structure. Although, I have a feeling many of the SPL clubs would prefer us to stay in the SPL with points deductions for commercial reasons.

GovanFR {Ed001's Note - I am sure they would, but, if it was me, I would prefer to let the smaller clubs in the lower leagues get the benefit of the commercial side of things for a change.}

Agree3 Disagree0

If you look down the banter page from yesterday i posted something similar about this and to be honest I agree with the ED, It would stop all the bias gash they like to spout about and then at least we can start developing youth players who will surely get game time at these levels so when we finally get back into the SPHELL we will hopefully have a team of homegrown players fighting for the jersey...

Tam-Sir

Agree2 Disagree0

ED - If Rangers newco make an application for membership to the SPL, the SPL board made up of either 5 or 6 members decide on the application, so direct entry is possible. {Ed001's Note - ok, I should have said unlikely, bad choice of words I agree.}

Agree0 Disagree0

Start at bottom div 3 spread some of our money up through the lower Leagues when we reach Div 1 one season in there and the likes of Morton Thistle dundee would be able to compete with most of the spl as they would have had to budget for three seasons without the cash rangers generate in gate recipts and tv revenue after we have won the div 1 they should reconstruct scottish football into two leagues of 18 it would make it more competitive but we know teams like St mirren Kilmarnock and utd would never vote for this as they want to play the OF four times a season.

Fort William Bear

Agree1 Disagree0

Three sensible posts,well done.

Agree0 Disagree0

Do remember that 6 SPL teams don't play the OF 4 times a season. It would also only take a few more hundred fans at each club's home games to make up the loss of one of the OF's gate money once or twice a year. It doesn't contribute as much as you think it does.

1903

Agree0 Disagree0

That is actually quite sensible. must be the air up there. the rest of the country's football needs some investment and as a lot of these small towns see coaches leaving for ibrox all the time it would even be some kind of justice. though as a celtic fan amusedly trawling through this site for 10 minutes i cant resist the temptation of pointing out some of the fixtures. big derby at hampden v queens park (they even wear hoops ! and they've got a bigger ground than rangers and, ive just realised, you wont even have the biggest stadium in the third division, that is too funny not to print.). stranraer v rangers - help the environment by cutting the mileages of coaches from belfast etc. berwick rangers v rangers - reminds you that things have been bad before. and just to even that one up you can go to the home of celtic conquering clyde. personally i think you'll enjoy it. i know i will.

Agree1 Disagree0

05 Mar 2012 16:44:13
Maybe ive missed the point here.

The SFA and SPL are in effect saying Rangers are guilty before the judge gives his verdict regarding the EBT case.

And by going public in announcing investigations before the judge gives his verdict COULD have made it a unfair trial.

Canadian Bear

Agree3 Disagree2

So your a judge now.

Canadian Bear

Agree4 Disagree2

You are missing the point. This SFA investigation is separate and relates to dual payments not declared. A bit like a side in the cup fielding an illegible player, getting through, they are then kicked out for doing so. I fear, if guilty, this is a much more serious charge if it has been going on for as long as suggested, If SFA are not seen to act with a severe punishment, if guilty, then UEFA and FIFA can intervene and deny scot slubs and national side entry to competition, like they threatened to do with Swiss FA over FC Sion.

Believable8 Unbelievable7

Agree4 Disagree2

Why?dont forget rangers owe money to hearts, dundee united and the pars,do you seriously think rangers prop up dundee united or any other club just because you visit an away ground twice a season?instead of calling for boycotts against other clubs perhaps you should be asking why ibrox had 4000 empty seats at the weekend.

Agree4 Disagree3

him are involved in that started the
problems being faced. {Ed001's Note - I did keep saying when it was all starting that people were looking to blame Whyte when Murray needs to be held accountable. If we are not found guilty of the EBT Case
If we are not found guilty of two possible Contracts
If we are not found guilty of making two different payments to player,we might just survive?
What next Campbell Ogilvie resigning from the SFA?
That would possibily confirm we are up the s---
Have we really got a chance of being proved innocent in all of those---no smoke without fire springs to mind, and prompts the question, just how many of the ex directors are to be seen or heard at the moment in our time of need, perhaps their silence is our answer. Really hope not as it just does not bear thinking about.

Believable8 Unbelievable1

You still have a known £15m current debt, £40m - £45m payable to Ticketus over the next 3 years, a floating charge of £18m to Whyte, investors purchase price to buy Whyte's 85% shareholding (several milion), CVA repayment of several million a year, no European money next season.

Even if the Big Tax case and two contracts are found in Rangers favour, they are still in the financial sh1t.

Agree5 Disagree5

05 Mar 2012 15:46:40
One thing is certain that the year 2012 will be well marked in the history of Scottish football as it is simply one thing after another as far as Rangers FC are concerned.
For the past few years it has been about the EBT Case, then we move to the Small Tax Case, then it's potential administration followed by administration, and possible player cull's be it 6 or 8 or11 and then of course we have the SFA investigating if the sale by David Murray to Craig Whyte is legal or not, then it's the turn of an ex
director Hugh Adams to suggest that there was other payments to players (perhaps two contracts)
While not wishing to push the possible issue aside, would love to know why this ex director decided to wait till now to raise this story, really is questionable why.
Is there anything else that could raise it's ugly head? it just appears to be one thing after another, and if any of these stories are proved to be correct then all those responsible past and present should hang their head in shame,as they and they alone will be accountable, and hopefully will be held accountable if proved.

Who of the current squad would be retained?

Believable1 Unbelievable0

Can't see some of the higher earners wanting to play 3rd division footie (If they are still here). Go back to the drawing board, get murray park producing some decent youngsters and stop relying solely on buying players. A healthy balance is what we need.

We'd be better just playing our youth team. Low operating costs.

Agree0 Disagree0

Forgot to say, provided MP has not been sold off...then we will need to find a car park to train on.

Agree0 Disagree0

It would have to be the kids. I reckon though that there are some good kids there. All these rumours of McGregor refusing to play ball, while I can understand why, I would still be upset that he would do so. Build a team round Naismith, if he stays and he comes across as the kind of guy who would, McCulloch good for a couple of years to assist if it did come to this. Grant Adam Scotland u21 Gk, Darren Cole, Kyle Hutton. Jamie Ness. Some good players there. I for one though hope that it doesn't come to that. Players and staff...and fans being punished for indiscretions of the board, now and past.

Agree0 Disagree0

Naismith would leave as he would command a decent fee and would probably want higher league football to preserve his chance of international football.

John yorkston, Dunfermline chairman stating he would bit be happy with a "newco" rangers having a free pass into SPL. Him along with many others wont allow this to happen, so if we liquidate we will be in 3rd div! Can anyone else see the point in this?? Why would we want to re start in scotland? Take the hit and re start in Englands bottom tiers. Does this not make sense?

Believable7 Unbelievable5

I have to agree with him, why should we get preferential treatment if we go bust. I don't like the thought of playing lower division football either, but thats a possibility where we will end up. Alas we haven't gone bust yet so all this is hypothetical. We are still here and am keeping my fingers crossed everything turns out ok.

However, other SPL chairmen admitted they would consider the wider impact on Scottish football should a new Rangers emerge.
Kilmarnock chairman Michael Johnston said: "There are certainly commercial considerations at play here.
"There is no underestimating the value of Rangers and Celtic to the SPL and Scottish football in general so I think it would be foolish to overlook the commercial aspects of this for all the other clubs."
St Mirren chairman Stewart Gilmour said: "Scottish football needs a strong Rangers and Celtic, that's my personal view.

guys with money like that who buy football clubs buy them in the glamour leagues, the epl, la liga and seria a. they dont buy clubs in scotland,
----------------------------------------------------

we all know the roumour about lisin is 99% pi55 mate but the guy does own an estate in scotland and as for your theory on billionaires buying clubs have you not heard of Suleyman Abusaidovich Kerimov he bought a club called FC Anzhi Makhachkala which where on the same parr as Greenock Morton first thing he done was get hidink in as manager and then made Sammy eto the highest paid player in the world so yes its highly unlikely that a Russian billionaire would buy a club like rangers but it is possible. if one did then they would be challenging for the ultimate prize every year the champions league even ambranovich cant be guaranteed that so sometimes it is an advantage to be in a weaker league

Believable3 Unbelievable7

It doesn't matter how much money he has, there is a new rule coming out that you can only spend what you bring in, this rule makes Celtic in an even stronger position because they have 6 or 7 players worth 5 million or more all as they have to do is sell 1 at a time and re invest it.

Agree7 Disagree4

Since abramovitch arrived chelsea have been in the cl every season(iffy this year) and has stated that from next year chelsea need to start paying their own way.UEFA rules re turnover to spend ratio also on the way.

Ok investor new buyer has to put in around 100 mil pay tax etc, club then on even keel or near enough, surely a club the size of rangers with european football would be worth more. so investor should have a return if run properly with new sponsers etc the spl is not profitable but with european football and worldwide support. craig+gettinbigbabybear

Been here before, but never this bad. When the manky mob were winning 9 was bad, the early eighties were worse but this time will take a lot longer to get a good team again. I know I will get pelters but Ally McCoist is not the manager we wanted him to be. All season we have been playing dire football. Other teams have passed us off the park and even seem to be fitter than us. Even before administration we were dire and Ally does not seem to have any new ideas. We are playing analogue football in a digital age, we must be one of the few teams who lump it up the park and hope for the best! I know the squad is not the best ever seen at Ibrox but surely no one can say that player for player other teams are better in every department. If we come out of this we have to say thanks but goodbye to Ally. Blind faith and saying nothing got us into the current mess so sitting back and saying we must support Ally no matter what, will just make the situation worse, if that is possible. Let's support our team but ffs let's be honest too. We are where we are because we sat back and did and said nothing.

Been here in the 80's, a laughing stock and all that. Thins will take 5 years in my mind to rebuild but we will be back, 100% confident. On the day that we win our next league championship i think Glasgow will see its biggest ever party, and every Gers fan will enjoy it like no other.

Roll on the future, and if you aint a Gers fan you better enjoy the next wee while as it aint going to be like this forever!

Believable11 Unbelievable6

They way things are developing Rangers will win a championship next season but it its looking like the third division due to the level of debt and controversy preventing a buyer from saving them

A party for winning the third division? what a comedown eh.

If rangers ain't in premier league it won't be worth celebrating either, 3rd div or premier league mickey mouse the pair of them, better drinking days out in 3rd div, would rather a day out in peterhead then a trip to porkhead any day, ed do you think rangers will be able to get our own tv channel for away games in 3rd div? {Ed001's Note - it is certainly a possibility.}

sick and tired of all the nice but dims coming on here and and trying to remind us whos fault it is we are in the state we are in! well guys we are well aware that we have no one to blame but ourselves but as far as dundee utd and some of the other spl clubs are concerned i am one bear that that will never step foot in some of there ground again, yes we got ourselves in it and we will get ourselves out of it life is difficult enough without Fuds like Thompson and his mates having a kick at us when we are down. if you see someone get ran over and you cant help them you do nothing you dont run over and put the boot in do you. Thompson will rue the day he decided to put the boot in he should have waited to see if we where dead before opening his big gob because there is only one thing more dangerous than an angry bear and thats a Wounded Bear and believe you me guys we are only wounded at the moment but most of you out there better hope its fatal because if its not when we get stronger we will be that more wiser and hungrier so dont be afraid be very afraid.

I believe Rangers can get the breathing space till the end of the season. If all attending the game donated £10 per home game till the end of this season which would allow the club to gain vital time and meet the finincial requirements to progress. This would give the club the 4 million needed and would free money to pay and keep players we need.

Believable2 Unbelievable4

Good sentiment but, there would have to be a purchase or it would be a donation and liable for tax.

Agree1 Disagree0

Getting to the end of the season only helps the spl because of the fixtures if we did get to the end of the season still in admin then liquidation would follow very quickly as come the end of the season there will be no income from games the close season for any football team is all about minimizing the loss for that period.

If we get liquidated can we apply to play in England rather than the spl?

Believable2 Unbelievable5

Yes,if we are liquidated we can apply forcmembership with the FA and affiliate leagues

Agree3 Disagree2

You can apply to the moon if you like but the chances are the same.Forget this Conference nonsense, think about it,it is just unworkable dreaming.

Agree4 Disagree1

No, UEFA rules clearly state that a club must play its home games in the country which they are applying to join.

Unless this rule is changed there is no possibility of playing in any English league.

Agree1 Disagree1

No, you cannot apply to play in a league in which you are not based. Source: Fraser Wishart.

Agree0 Disagree1

I must be missing something here but what about berwick, swansea and cardiff? {Ed001's Note - they were playing in their respective leagues before the rules were changed.}

Agree2 Disagree0

Could the guy that said UEFA rules state a club must play it's home games in the country which they are applying to join, post a link to that please. If that is indeed true, remember that we live in Britain, that may well be a significant loophole. Also, EU law means you cannot prevent someone from basing themselves in another country.

Have heard a rumour that the Administrators have asked the FA for an emergency transfer window to be opened in order to sell players so Rangers can see out the season.

I believe Porstmouth were granted this a week or so ago.

I have herd that Aston Villa are ready to step in for Davis if he becomes available, the only other i can see getting any sort of money for is McGregor.

Today is certainly going to be interesting! {Ed001's Note - they just let players go out on emergency loans, the loan window in the Football League doesn't shut until 5pm on the 22nd.}

Premier League teams can't bring in any players on emergency loan deals unless it's a keeper if they only have one fit keeper available.

morning bears, i keep readng on here how some of you would rather go to the third division than stay in the spl with penalties for three years. ok go for it .. but think about it first, in the spl you would have crowds and tv money enabling you to at least have half decent players on the park , yes you would have to give away points of a start and probably wouldn't win anything but look at the alternative , third devision ,, playing shire , elgin , queens park , berwick , you cant charge £25 to watch that , average prices for the 3rd are £9 so even if you got 5000 crowds thats about £90000 a month coming in you wouldn't even pay the rates with that , you would be watching under 19's probably and yes you would do walking away from that.

so you don't even have a choice if liquidation comes , you have to stay in the spl . and yes i've read you saying f*** them , they will lose sky espn money , aye ok , we got about 2 million quid last season in a turnover of £60m , you might hurt the rest but we wouldn't blink an eye , and anyway the spl have been thinking about starting their own tv station for years now , so if sky go that plan would probably come to fruition , so do yourselves a favour and IF you are invited stay in the spl , eat humble pie for your crimes, take your punishment and get on with it , third division would be crazy , and any thoughts of playing in england , forget it , thats a non starter , they don't want you OR US .. , billybhoy

Believable6 Unbelievable7

3rd division for me and as for Spl tv wont get far without the Rangers fans money.

Agree6 Disagree3

SPL all day long, if my feelow fans are so desperate to hurt other clubs then dont buy away tickets but we badly need to be getting the crowds that top flight footie generates, tv money, sponsorship, advertising, hospitality packages etc need i go on...?

Agree4 Disagree0

The arrogance of some rangers fans is astonishing! The SPL would be okay. Forget this rubbish about clauses in the contract, they will not be allowed to walk away.Reduce payments? Maybie.

Agree3 Disagree2

Interesting to read a tim posting to stay in the SPL if invited.
I would suspect that s*y wouldn't be interested in the spl if RFC goes. Yes it's only £2m in revenue for yourselves but there is a lot more value in having your games on s*y every second week plus the OF matches. Accessing your games worldwide via s*y is not valued in £s. The idea of a SPL channel would only really be Celtic games being shown away from home. Prob Hibs v Hearts. So if the the s*y deal is not of great value to you £ wise then what will the SPL channel be and would each club get an equal share?
With regards the cost of entrance to 3rd div games etc £9 compared to £25plus will be attractive to many that cannot afford the Home games this now. Maybe even more families going. The entrance money may well attract a higher number of fans than what you think, especially if the fans see it as a way of stepping up a league every year to get us back into the SPL. Not the same revenue raised per year this now, granted.
When Motherwell went into admin they were saved from relegation because , I think, Falkirk who were meant to be promoted didn't have a stadium suitable for the SPL. The SPL didn't bother with who was 2nd in the 1st div funnily enough. Things may have been different for them had they gone down. But good luck to them anyway.
At the moment it's Ross County, Falkirk and Dundee in the first division. I would think a replacement would come from one of them. Exciting for them am sure.
EPL is a non starter for both OF and I think the idea that an OF Channel will be gone as well. It looks like the free web STV or the Beeb to me.
What is best for the gers will be decided by the outcome of all of this and our input.
I think RFC should consider what is best for itself definitely including dropping leagues.
Iam Legend

Morning ed reading the rags their interesting what Paul murry was saying about wage deferrals he would rather pick up the 4.5 million on back dated wages that's fine if it works so what would happen if his offer fails then that would be more deit a personally would like to see Paul in it's the way forward let's the fans put their money in as well hopefully administrators are not to heavy will their cull their is players that could go their just sitting taken wages time for them to move on am pretty sure we will get through this .. Kenny bluenose {Ed001's Note - if his bid then failed, the club would go into liquidation. It is a huge risk to give players wage deferrals.}

Believable1 Unbelievable0

Wage deferrals will not happen for 2 reasons:

1. Any incoming investor would face a backdated wage bill of several million. No investor will have an appetite for this.

2. If the club went into liquidation, the players would have a strong case to sue Duff and Phelps, as they allowed a deferment of wages in the knowledge that liquidation was a likely outcome.

The administrators are not aloud to do that.
