I don't have a wee boy but am privileged to be taking my 7 year old Godson to his first game tomorrow. Got it all planned; photo at the gates, first scarf and all. let's hope we put on a great show and get another result! Gers 3-0. Enjoy the game folks.

05 Feb 2016 22:24:11
3 - 0 would be good for the wee man to get the buzz for Rangers! ! I'm sure he'll enjoy it.

05 Feb 2016 22:44:05
Superb . I am 55 and still remember the full game against Bayern Munich and everybody wondering who Derek Parlane was. Enjoy.

06 Feb 2016 08:54:42
No doubt he will get a buzz no matter the outcome i remember going to my first game at Ibrox European cup 1975 trying to overturn a 2-0 second leg away defeat then getting beat 2-1 at home still got a great buzz from the game,
Hopefully the little one gets a buzz and a win for the Gers have a Great day.

06 Feb 2016 09:16:39
LifelongBear, the young lad will never forget his first visit to Ibrox, as I still recall mine, 60 years ago.
I really hope he watches us getting a victory, but no matter the score, he will be thrilled by the buzz and the atmosphere. Photographs are a great idea, as well.

06 Feb 2016 10:05:42
Hope your score us bang on. Would take any sort of win today. You n the wee man enjoy the game.

06 Feb 2016 12:24:38
LifelongGer all the best and welcome your Godson to the Rangers family.
May this be the first of many visits.
Once a Ranger always a Ranger.

07 Feb 2016 01:39:46
Thanks a lot folks. Not the best result but you know what, all the way back from the stadium, the wee fella, with his new scarf from the guy at the subway, kept saying he was now 'a Ranger for life'. That'll do for me. Another wee bear on board. Let's do the replay. Thanks again for some really top responses. We are a great family when we are al together.

05 Feb 2016 16:07:19
We might be in the Scottish Championship, but I honestly think that our support is a lot happier right now than the majority of Celtic fans are on the state of our teams. Probably for the first time since we went down. And I for one am loving it!
Not saying we're better yet but we're on the up, they're going nowhere fast.

05 Feb 2016 16:31:38
I fully agree. In theory they should have been miles ahead of every other team in Scotland and seriously targeting the latter stages of the Champions League. BUt there development has stalled and I can see it going backwards at a great rate of naughts. It is a mixture of a CEO and a Board that don't want to invest in the future of their club and a crap manager that looks even worse than McCoist! Bringing in players like the Feyenoord reject will upset the dressing room since everything points to him being bad news. With a bit of luck they will surrender the league to Aberdeen and in an ideal world they will make an early exit from the Scottish Cup! They will really not be that far ahead of us come next season and with some clever work in the transfer market in the summer we could leave them standing next season!

05 Feb 2016 17:56:46
Since when were Celtic fans interested in their own team? They are too obsessed with Rangers, that they have missed the decline of their own club. They had 4 years to disappear into the sunset, instead their arrogance has meant even Aberdeen have a chance at the title. 4 wasted years, thanks Liewell.

05 Feb 2016 18:33:50
Worry about our own issues and let them care about theirs! It's this bull crap that's holding Scottish football back!

05 Feb 2016 19:30:05
How good the opposition are is our business. That's who we need to beat.

05 Feb 2016 19:30:54
So long as Rangers are back on op I personally care little for the rest of Scottish Football!

05 Feb 2016 19:34:46
Going for 10 in a row biggest rivals division below who are you kidding. Change their numpty manager and who is looking the better prospect. Live in the real world.

05 Feb 2016 20:59:40
10 in a row is 5 years away that's even if they win it this year. We can be challenging next year for that league. No doubt.

05 Feb 2016 21:04:22
Listen they are under achieving big time, they have just spent 5.5 million on 2 centre halfs and just got a 12 million winger on loan for 18 months also don't be surprised if they spend a right few quid in the summer because we got promoted, granted its panic stations in the east end just now but if they had a decent manager they would be a hell of a lot better than the shambles they r at the minute, let's just hope we can do a share issue so we can get 20-30 million into the club on top of season ticket money then we will have a good transfer budget which I think we're going to need a few million to buy a better standard of player which most fans would agree is needed for next year.

05 Feb 2016 22:23:26
They are still further down the road than we are. Reverting to the original statement I don't think they are that unhappy. i'd much rather the positions were reversed and so does everyone else with an clear mind. We have uncertainty ahead possibly 7 years before we can even buy a shirt. God only knows what the court cases will bring. They might have a clown manager and a bigoted chairman but that seems trivial in comparison.

05 Feb 2016 22:31:41
Any share issue will be gobbled up with shares for those that have loaned money to keep us going. there is not a limitless supply of shares that can be sold.

05 Feb 2016 22:38:49
Money is only relevant if you are getting value for it Delboy. Look at Chelsea this year, all the talent in the world but a break down in leadership and it all falls apart. With Ronnie in charge next year I seriously fancy out chances, and if they replace him I would equally fancy our chances as it would take a new boss time to sort out that mess he would be left with.
Next year could be a cracker, with us, them, the sheep and jambo's all going to take points off each other. I don't think it will necessarily come down to who spends the most.

05 Feb 2016 15:21:18
I would like to say a big well done to the board the management team and the players for giving me a rangers to be proad of and very excited for the future, about a year ago we were doomed, poor team a management team that did not have a clue and a board that were trying to finish us now it looks so much brighter and I love the fact that murry park will be used properly for the first time since it was built its a great time to be a bear.

05 Feb 2016 20:45:37
damo666, spot on, too many people just don't have patience, yes we will be back, and we will be back with a lot of integrity, we have served our punishment, done our time, but if anyone out there think we, and I am not putting my hands up, think we were the only team to use EBTs then they are wrong, we were just the scapegoat .
I am not the para noire type but after watching Halliday red card, is this another way of punishment!
Yes it was rescinded, but the point I would like to make is, If anyone has a grudge against our team and you want to do something about it, do it right because reporting / TV and especially us will be watching .

05 Feb 2016 22:41:33
For Murray park only being used for the first time in the "right" way since it was built, is simply not good enough, we should have been bringing young Scottish talent through for years, if we did do it right we would have a headache wether to play the young lads or make a mint on throwing them out to other big teams. We need to do better! I'm sure we will, but you just expect it to happen with facilities we have it should be an amazing breeding ground for pure jock talent! Grunt over!

05 Feb 2016 21:40:30
Brian a lot of people go on and on about the use of e.b.t.s but when we used them they were above board, ie not illegal, after they were declared to be illegal we stopped using them, so no law was broken in regards e.b.t.s.

06 Feb 2016 01:10:32
I don't just expect but if its run the right way then we would of seen some real talent come through not a small bunch of players that we never made much money on look at Ajax the always produce.

05 Feb 2016 14:26:58
Some questions for next season fellow Bears.

Which regular starters do you think haven't played well enough and need replaced to mount a challenge for the top three next season?

Assuming this is our team.

Foderingham

Tavernier-Keirnan-Wilson-Wallace

Holt-Halliday-Law

Waghorn-Miller-McKay

Along with O`Halloran. Forrester, Crooks, Windass and possibly King and Ball being at the club next season. Crooks may replace Wilson or Halliday and let Halliday play further forward. Windass could replace Law or Miller. O`Halloran could replace Miller or go wide. King could play out wide as could Forrester. Finally Ball could replace Wilson or play defensive midfield.

This post is long, but just wondering what fellow fans thoughts are on the strength of our squad for the step to the division above.

05 Feb 2016 15:32:08
I think the back line needs tightening that's for sure, I don't see any issues with our midfield options as I think Halliday can mix it up a bit and put the foot in when necessary.
We have good options throughout, I would like to see another CF signed though and definately a CB or even 2.

05 Feb 2016 15:48:38
The Holt/ Halliday/ Law is the critical as the real defensive weakness is primarily Tav and to a lesser extent, Wallace (I did say defensive weakness)

Kiernan/ Wilson becomes the critical path and the latter has definitely improved our defence in the last few games. Is this good enough for the top league?

Holt / Halliday/ Law is therefor critical with Law being the weakest link. (I repeat weakest link)

Front line must include O Halloron and Waggie, I would have said McKay also but signs are he is starting to feel undervalued and this is where we come to the crunch line.

With the new (known) arrivals of King and (Forgive me the other lad whose name escapes me) it looks like McKay is not going to be so essential after all and may or may not accept that, under the new system everyone has to play for their place.
And this is the first test of Warbs system whereby everyone has to accept they can be replaced for specific games etc etc.

So we are at a kind of crossroads with our new philosophy. Can we maintain a group of top line players or will it break up when some bigheads are here?

I used to run an FP team (60 years ago) and know how difficult it is to keep a balance between stars and team players. Nothing has changed.

Strength to your elbow Warbs.

05 Feb 2016 16:11:57
I'd say McKay is one of our best players and MW has done nothing but praise him in the press and he starts most games. So struggle to see why he would feel undervalued?

05 Feb 2016 16:58:26
I would expect King to go back to Hears in the summer so will discount him from our 2016 / 2017 like up.

When we look at our squad we have a decent quality starting eleven and a number of good young players so we really do need to shop wisely in order to secure exceptional players that make a serious difference to the team.

I am not sure about the quality of our back up keepers so question mark there and also, we have no backup for our two full backs, (and we might need an out and out ball winner, Porini style, for some games in the SPL) . Equally, our two centre backs are somewhat slow and an additional, better quality centre back might be a big plus.

Up front I would like to see us sign an out and out striker, a Hateley type, preferably, that gives us a different option and I live in hope that our new Scouting system unearths a Baxter or a Gazza!

05 Feb 2016 18:40:19
I think we have eight or nine players who could play well in the SPL, and about five or six who will excel at that level. I agree with the manager that we are between 4-6 players short of mounting a sustained challenge, and I'll leave the choices to him, that's his job and he's no' bad at it. I'm sure, however, he will strengthen defensively as we will be facing a better standard of opponent (well, some of them) and I can see a new striker joining the squad. And the goalkeeper still concerns me, even though I do see the improvements he has made. I believe that's why the Polish guy is here for six months, to see if he measures up.

05 Feb 2016 20:08:14
This won't go down well guys but be honest with yourself and answer who in our team would get a game for a very poor celtic?

We have a long way to go yet, hence Warbs saying we need half a dozen in the summer.

05 Feb 2016 14:17:10
What type of reception do we all expect Jig, Boyd and Smith to get tomorrow?

I personally hope for a positive one, the 3 guys gave their all when selected regardless of being played out of position or in poor form.

Thoughts?

05 Feb 2016 14:27:09
Don't think there'll be any problems with the reception tomorrow once a ranger always a ranger.

05 Feb 2016 15:22:59
Once a ranger always a ranger. apart from naismith, lafferty and a few others according to some on here.

05 Feb 2016 15:53:35
Perhaps the "fans" that booed McCullough for much of his last season will take the opportunity to apologise and give him the welcome back he deserves. He may lack quality but he never lacked effort.

Boyd and Smith should also be cheered but I fear Boyd will be a target for his recent (perfectly sensible) comments in the media.

05 Feb 2016 16:07:19
I hope they get a great reception tomorrow because the media will be all over it if any of them don't which is just another headache we don't want or need.

05 Feb 2016 17:03:03
Lafferty was never a Ranger! Just a total waste of £4m. He would have fitted in better across the City at the Piggery since he behaved more like one of them than one of us!

McCulloch deserves a good welcome, the guy played all over the place for the Club and at times was totally destroyed by McCoist and McDowall. Smith should also get a great reception. He would have been a Rangers' legend had it not been for the injuries he sustained.

As for Boyd, he has admitted that he was poor when he returned he said what a lot of us were thinking regarding investment in new quality players and we will need to watch him tomorrow or he will embarrass our centre backs!

05 Feb 2016 18:51:14
Lafferty scored some important goals for us and I am sure when he scored the winner at parkhead you were cheering like everybody else.

05 Feb 2016 13:03:51
Any thoughts on the team to Play Killie tomorrow? Assuming Holt is injured and O'Halloran is cup-tied will Warburton play Nicky Law or Zelalem? I think:

Foderingham; Tavernier, Kiernan, Wilson, Wallace; Halliday, Law, Ball; Waghorn, Miller, Mackay

Warburton seems to like Ball. I'd still like to see Hardie given a run but I doubt he'll start in this match.

05 Feb 2016 14:08:43
totally agree with your line up, think that is spot on.

05 Feb 2016 16:31:55
As a starter Miller is the weakest link in that team but as a real fan of Zalelem I agree Law is the man for the job at this time.

05 Feb 2016 11:30:01
After seeing Forrester against raith I think we actually have a very good player in the making! Anyone agree? Thoughts?

05 Feb 2016 12:28:34
Unfortunately I never seen the raith game so I never seen his performance but what I will say is I thought it was to early to judge the boy until he gets a run of games to get his sharpness back then hopefully he will deliver.

05 Feb 2016 12:59:34
I agree, think he does have something to offer but needs time as do all the players that come in.
